It was simpler to add to my existing eufy set up. You don’t need to get the bell as it rings on the home base.
Fantastic picture quality too.
Work really well good definition care must be taken deciding where to position but not really difficul
Excellent, easy to pair with other Eufy products, easy to use app & good night day & night vision. Easy fitting & removal for battery charging. Would recommend
ing are out to rip you off eufy is the way to go
The base station and cameras are extremely well made and easy to install and set up. Amazing microphone and spotlight.
Great quality doorbell camera with a really clear picture. Bought as a Black Friday deal and cheaper than a lesser quality doorbell. Swapped from a ring doorbell to the Eufy and don’t think I will go back
Picture quality is great
Motion detection is really good
Battery life lasts a couple of weeks with the high surveillance setting and only a little while longer with the reduced surveillance setting.
Still would recommend this over a ring doorbell
**152 days later**
Using the optimal surveillance mode, it lasted 152 days until it required charging. It captured 3668 events in total.
Overall, I’m pleased with the system and the way it works. Would recommend fully.
**Original review**
This was an upgrade from the 1080p doorbell camera and chime. After being impressed with the 1080p, I purchased the Eufy alarm kit when it was on offer. However, to use the automation feature in the app with the other items (PIR sensors, additional cameras etc) the doorbell needed to be unpaired with the chime and added to the Homebase 2 that came with the alarm system, this in turn would render the chime redundant. So it made sense to return it and purchased this 2k add on.
Overall it’s a great bit of kit for those wanting a reliable doorbell without having to pay extra to save the 2am video of the fox in the front garden or the time you tripped up the front step. Everything is saved locally on the Homebase 2 and you can access this all through the app.
Setup was straight forward and installation was easy. With this the option is there to hardwire it in with existing doorbell wiring and the leads and connectors you may need are supplied in the box.
Straight out the box I charged it to 100% which took just over an hour from 74%, from there it was a quick change of the back plates (the 2k is annoyingly ever so slightly bigger and required a new hole drilling in the door frame, not ideal if you’re a renter like me…).
Be prepared to tweak the settings. A lot. The first few days the motion detection notifications can get annoying and I live in a quiet cul-de-sac… you’ll need to find balance as even though the AI is good, it doesn’t mean it’s flawless. With the 1080p I was able to set 3 square activity zones whereas with the 2k, you get 1 hexagonal zone to form a shape. The attached image shows the weird shape I had to form (and it’s night vision thrown in for good measure) but it works me. The attached video shows next doors cat which rubs against that corner a lot and it set off the motion detection, but now with the activity zone it filters out that corner.
Battery life so far has been good, the attached screenshot shows it’s state and that is from the 1st charge cycle. I’ve had it set to optimal surveillance from with all motion detection selected.
All in all, a good piece of kit. An extra point goes to it’s release key. With the 1080p you get a standard SIM pin tool, nothing fancy and likely to be lost, but with the 2k, you get a chunky magnet one, ideal for me as the metal consumer board is right above my door.
I bought this to replace my Ring gen 1 doorbell which we have had for a couple of years and this has several advantages
Firstly, if like us you suffer with poor broadband “upload” speed then this solves one of your issues as the “storage” is local within the Homebase so the only time it is streamed up your broadband line is when you answer the doorbell through the app on your phone – no more maxed out / slow broadband every time a motion event is detected. Everything else is recorded locally without touching your broadband (unless you subscribe to Eufy cloud storage, which I don’t see a point in personally)
Furthermore the doorbell integrates with the rest of your Eufy Cam / security system so you can setup all manner of recording automations based on one part of the system (motion sensor or another camera) setting off video recording elsewhere including from this doorbell.
** Note this doorbell does NOT have a siren function like the cameras do **
It also has the ability to be connected to any existing doorbell wiring to keep it fully charged and trigger a mechanical doorbell sounder if you have one. If not, it can be run on just battery power with the doorbell chime sound coming from your Homebase or an Amazon Echo (Alexa) or both.
The footage captured is clear and sharp and the responsiveness from button press to phone notification is very good considering other technical limitations such as broadband upload speed and mobile 4G coverage speed – both of which are pretty poor in my area.
The overall picture quality is good and the setup was easy. The main comment is even though the firmware is up to date and the home network is good I am getting a lag on viewing the live feed and recordings, almost like it’s cutting in and out every few seconds and not seeming like it’s a constant camera feed.
This system is fantastic 5until today.
I have door bell and 2 eufy 2c Camera’s set up is easy and never fail to notify me of events! Or at least until today, it has rained non stop all day with the wind blowing straight at the front door, doorbell is full of conditions.
I’ve rang amazon and they have issued a replacement (love Amazon).
Well I’ve got to admit I never really wanted one but after recent episodes in my life I’ve had no choice but to buy one along with the twin eufycam 2c kit for the rest of my property, and I’ve got to say I’m absolutely over the moon with these they have already paid for themselves. I was lucky to get these on her special so keep your eyes open and trust me buy some when you do you will not be be disappointed, they are an absolute doddle to put up and setup, and the fact I get constant updates to my phone wherever I am is an absolute bonus I would not be without these now. One more thing I would like to add is this review yes is for the doorbell alarm and camera but I’m also doing it for the house security system, the doorbell camera which this review is for what it doesn’t tell you is you can also use it wired to your existing doorbell button which means it will be constantly powered. So basically you have a choice to either have it wireless or wired but it doesn’t tell you that only when you receive it will take that in the instructions. Crystal clear image and the sound is incredible
Pro:
Good picture quality (see attached), can clearly see faces walking up driveway.
Good motion capture and activity zone is great where I can outline lines (not just boxes) around my front garden walls.
So it’s only triggered if someone is actually in my garden.
So many deliveries NOT missed now. Can go for a dog walk without worry.
Con:
AI for human detection isn’t amazing (thinks my dog is a human from time to time)
Wish they had the privacy zone as my other Eufy cameras have (so I can block out neighbors driveway)
Slight delay (3-15s) in notification to phone, but that might be my phone (iphone x) or my wifi
So I brought this as I have the cameras and wanted a video door bell. I have read that people complain about the battery life. I just use it as a video door bell, so no movement detection is on. I’ve had it about a month and my battery is still in the high 90% The notification from the doorbell being pressed to the phone notification is almost instant, and has already saved me having to go and collect parcels
I spent a lot of time researching smart camera doorbells and watching reviews on YouTube. We needed two doorbells, one at the front door and one at the back gate. This was the add on as we also bought the starter pack one with the hub. The hub can also be used for Eufy home security – alarms, lights, movement detectors etc all on the same platform.
The first good thing about this is that you don’t have to pay a subscription to record and keep any detected activity. Activity is recorded on the hub and is only written over when it is full. This gives you plenty of time to spot any suspicious (or funny!) activity and download it before it is recorded over.
The second good thing is that although it is advertised as wireless it can easily be wired using most doorbell adaptors available. We have done this so that we don’t have to worry about batteries.
The video is extremely clear and the options/settings are useful.
My son who works in IT and has a smart house from top to toe was very impressed ;o)
Good alternative to ring and the likes of. The signal is weak if you have the hub the opposite side of the house and you have a porch like I do. I also have the 2C cameras. These trump my doorbell otherwise I would move it. I would recommend enabling the wi-fi option this extends the signal range. My ex had the same doorbell and the hub is closer for her. This rings immediately like the ring doorbells.
The video quality is amazing as it’s the sound and motion detection. It integrates well with other smart home tech like the Amazon Alexa’s. It works well with the fire stick and brings up the camera and doorbell when asked on the TV. This is a handy feature. It is not ZigBee compliant so don’t expect it to work with Alexa ZigBee or smartthings. However it does work well with home assistant. The bonus for me is the footage is stored locally on the hub so no monthly fees!
I have recommended the current setup to 3 other friends who have purchased the eco system and they are happy as I am with their purchase. I would definitely wait for the seasonal discounts as this dramatically reduces the outlay!
I don’t normally review products but I found that looking at the reviews for my doorbell really helped me make up my mind.
I had never hear of Eufy before and I was going to buy the Ring doorbell, I’m glad I didn’t now as I fully give this doorbell 5 stars. The price was great as I brought in the Black Friday event. I’ve had it a good few months now so only far to make an honest review.
I did a lot of reviewing on YouTube, amazon, which and other websites before purchasing. Firstly the no subscription is going to save you money in the long run. Also this doorbell is 2k and the picture quality is great. The settings are very easy to use. The customer service from Eufy is also very good.
As for battery life. Don’t expect it to last 180 days. I’m sure it will do if you have nobody at your front door or passing for 180 days. I charge mine every 3 weeks (21 days)and I do have an area motion detection in place so it’s not capturing people walking past, only people who come into my garden.
I would recommend. It’s easy to install and very easy to take off and charge. Hope this helps.
Quality picture great to see who’s at the door can be viewed on my phone tv tablet covers my vehicles very easy to install added it to Alexa so at night when the doorbell is pressed the hall light turns on. We bought my in-laws another branded doorbell and didn’t realise you have to subscribe to a monthly fee to get all the features (this put me off buying one ) so I got the eufy 2k doorbell with no monthly fees and I couldn’t be more happier with it, Ai is good as we live on a main road you can set it for people only so it’s not going off when vehicles pass
I bought this for my mum as part of her home security system. I’ve used Eufy products to create my own security system and was so impressed with their products and customer services that I’ve done the same for my mum’s house.
Eufy do regular discounts so it’s cost effective to add devices when they drop in price rather than buy everything at once. Just make sure your first device contains a Homebase 2 (15 Gb). Everything then gets integrated onto this and makes adding new devices simple.
Great door bell. Easy to mount, easy to connect to Homebase 2. Loads of settings to play with.
NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES.
Picture quality is good both during the day and at night. Battery life is touted at 180 days but you’ll never achieve this unless you don’t use it.
Even though their is a lag with notifications and reviewing the alerts, it’s no worse than any of the other major wireless players on the market such as Ring, Arlo, Blink etc.
The app is good but you can set up alerts to work Alexa and Apple HomeKit. I’ve stuck with Eufy’s app.
Highly recommended
As with all wireless products, you are entirely at the mercy of a decent WiFi network.
Any issues arising has always been sorted out by Eufy’s excellent customer services
This has to be one of the best Doorbell cameras on the market. I’ve had a ring doorbell before this one and can’t believe how much of a difference there is. It Absolutely kicks rings butt!
The picture quality is absolutely perfect, so crystal clear.
The battery life just feels like it never seems to go down. I still haven’t had to charge it and it’s been around three months and still has around 54% battery left and we lived on a reasonably busy road too. So believe it when it says 6 months battery life because it’s true.
We have just moved now to a much quieter street & area, so I would expect it’s not going to go off quite so much now so maybe the battery will last even longer.
I also bought the cameras too which again are just as impressive.
Stick with these Eufy guys I promise you will NOT be disappointed. Will never go back!!! Well done EUFY, I’ll definitely be buying more products from you in the coming future!
Bought to go with the camera system I had, I am quite pleased with it, was super easy to install, hardest part is figuring out where you want to put it, it’s a little bulky, but has a reasonably good picture, it did fog a little in the cold weather we had, but works fine with my Amazon Dots, they ring throughout the house so no need for a loud ring tone, can be a little slow to react via the phone to see who is calling, and very broadband dependant, my ISP is being a little temperamental on occasion, but all things considered, it does what I want.
Item was great – until this evening. Easy to install, angled wedge is simple but effective and it feels well built. During day picture quality is excellent with a wide angle of view. A bit grainy at night.
However, this evening I’ve had a few phantom bell rings – comes through Alexa and notifies on phone – but no one has pressed the bell!
Already have Eufy 2C camera system with Homebase 2. So did not really want to have to buy the doorbell & Homebase bundle.
So when the add on Doorbell appeared on here. Ordered it and waited for it to arrive.
Glad to say like other Eufy products, it’s easy to setup, good quality build and works well.
Only had it about a week, so still tweaking the settings etc. However more than happy it’s doing the job.
Couple of people who have rung the bell say my voice comes though clear & loud so able to understand me, I can see them clearly and hear them fine as well. So have to say up to now it’s ticking all the boxes
