Purchased this as our drain gets full due to a kink in the bottom of our drive where our drain meets the street drain. Works perfectly everytime Mr Hanky and friends decide to stay around.

Very happy with the two sets I purchased although I didn’t clear the blockage as I now suspect there is a major problem with the drain near the street. Important to keep turning clockwise and tight very hard the front end of the rods.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersA friend borrowed and then lost my last set of drain rods, so this set replaced them.
My neighbour (linked drain) was pushing hard for a solution to what he thought might be a “Big Job” and was happy to pay 250.00 for one of those drain specialists to come out and clear the issue.
Amazon prime came to the rescue and this set of rods arrived the next day and within 15 minutes I’d cleared the drain blockage.
They don’t take up a lot of space and if you don’t have a shed you can store them in your back passage or near to the tradesman’s entrance.

Husband did the honours & didn’t read instructions properly. When he did & used them then he said it was brilliant. Also has a useful bag to keep the sections in. Well worth the price

Easy to assemble and straight forward instructions. Worked like a treat! Tried everything to unblock the drain and this did the job, only thing I would is when using the plunger bit, the screw came loose but other than that great product.

Did the job, which is the main thing. The entrance to the drain was quite curved but the rods managed fine and the blockage was cleared within 10 minutes, and no need to call out a drain rodding company. We used the worm tool and about 4 rods and all was fine. One rod didn’t thread as well as the others so swapped it, but still enough that we could have gone a lot further down the drain. The rods feel quite sturdy but with just enough flex to go under a manhole cover into a narrow drain. We have only used them once, but very pleased and have peace of mind that if it happens again, we can clear the issue ourselves!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this yesterday after spotting my drain had blocked and I had a new swimming pool. I’ve used plumbers and the likes in the past when my drain has blocked (costing hundreds) but I saw a YouTube video from a guy with the exact same problem as me. He bought drain rods and managed to unblock his drain in minutes, so I decided to give it a shot (the video is called How to unblock a kitchen sink drain, and is by a dude called mothballjim)

The rods arrived today and they are exactly as advertised. I spent 5 minutes poking the drain with the pointy attachment to loosen things up, and then 5 more with the plunger end, and would you know it, it suddenly started to drain and the pool was gone within seconds. Saved me loads of money for this blockage and many future blockages.

There is a lot of rod pieces so I used two pieces for each attachment, rather than unscrewing the attachment to change them.

The rods feel sturdy and, as long as you don’t twist them the wrong way when using them, they stay screwed up tight.

Excellent and essential piece of kit for anyone with a drain that keeps blocking.

Used to try and unblock waste blockage. Unfortunately the piping had a slight bend and these would not bend to go round. But they are sturdy and would work well I think on a normal straight forward pipe blockage

I rarely write reviews but this product just saved me hundreds of pounds. A blocked drain and a minimum call out fee of 150 (average cost by time block cleared is 285 from a popular provider). So got these rods and set to work. After a fair amount of prodding around, eventually the blockage cleared and one clean drain and happy customer. Would throughly recommend buying these before picking up the phone to the drain people!

Had read other reviews which endorsed this product so took a chance and agree with most of the other reviews that this is very good value for money. The rods are sturdy and do the job. One piece of advice ” turn the rods clockwise or they will unscrew”. Worth buying!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGenerally item was great however despite following advise of other reviewers (used pliers to tighten attachment and only turning clockwise) I still found the attachment to be slightly loose after pulling it from the drains. I would advise using electrical tape as belt and braces approach

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOur blocked, smelly drain was no match for this (made in England) tool.

My husband was sceptical that we could manage the job on our own, so my teenage son and I decided to try to clear the drain while Hubby was at work. The rods screwed together quickly and securely and the spiral attachment at the end unclogged the totally blocked drain in just a few turns.

25 and 30 minutes work versus a 200+ visit from the plumber? Not a hard choice to make.

I’m an ordinary woman with no plumbing experience. The included instructions were clear and easy to follow. The rods are sturdy and well made. I am DELIGHTED with my purchase. Even Hubby is pleased.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDrains were blocked between house and septic tank, as evidenced by downstairs toilet water levels rising very high in the pan after flushing. Lifting outdoor drain covers confirmed high levels in the drains, and nil flow.

I avoided even cheaper rods on the premise that a breakage of same would only add to our problems. This Faithfull set arrived the very next day (Amazon Prime) and was quite obviously fit for purpose. Excellent value for money.

The instructions make a good point about localising the blockage, so the the next chamber downstream can be blanked to prevent the cleared ‘matter’ from surging on and causing another blockage. A brick sufficed for that while allowing liquid to pass beneath.

However, I could not rod back towards the house as the access would have required a scary amount of bend in the rods. Instead I found that the most upstream drain cover gave access with the least amount of bend – maybe 30 degrees. All ten rods plus the hook end did the trick in five minutes. I then lifted out the paper and s**t with a hoe. Flushing all 3 toilets brought through yet more backed-up detritus. Rinsing the various chambers with a garden hose was helpful.

I was dreading the task but, honestly, it was almost a pleasure! Having water flushed as above the rods even emerged fairly wholesome and after dragging through long grass were near ready to put away.

As per title, a great 25 quid’s worth. Well done Faithfull!

Had a blockage and one set of these already, but knew I needed more for the drain length. Easy to use, Made in England and just the job to have in the shed or garage to save ‘s on an easy fix that most home DIY’ers should find easy to use.

Golden rule as mentioned – always always turn the rods in a clockwise direction, never swivel in left and right twists; (leaving a pole behind with an attachment is greater than the blockage itself.) So as you put the poles in, turn them right each time you attach each pole. As you extract them turn the main set right as you withdraw them and carefully unscrew the rods carefully one by one so as not to accidentally unscrew a rod. It’s really easy though.

Got product to unblock toilet. Expensive call outs failed, reoccurring problem. Took less than 30 minutes quickly unblocking toilet. Plunger inserted in outlet pipe next to toilet. Small Sink also blocked, as soon as toilet unblocked, the sink was fine. Best 25 pounds I ever spent. Choice of flat disc attachment or double pigtail. I used flat disc didn’t need the pigtail. Good quality rods and plenty of them. Only used 3 for job. As rods and attachments screw on anti clockwise remember to twist plunger clockwise so they don’t detach. After each attempt, tighten disc/ pigtails and also each rod, make sure they are tightened each time.10/10 *****

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThey worked a treat, cleared the blockage. Just make sure you tighten everything and keep rotating clockwise. Despite following this advice (thanks to previous reviewers), the rubber end came off one time ( luckily as we were lifting it out of the drain, so we were able to recover the end).

Eventually, we simply tightened the end on using a wrench and had no more problems.

It seems this is a common issue with drain rods, not something specific to this brand.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersWell. My outside drains blocked & overflowed from the kitchen waste pipe. Had to use a length of hose for a tricky bend. The rods don’t flex an awful lot. However I lifted a manhole cover & cleared the loo, bath & washing machine drains all the way to the septic tank. I thought while I was up to my elbows in drain gunk I might as well. Worked a treat. You do need to keep checking & tightening the screw thread joins but no rods lost down a pipe. I’m just a feeble woman & found it easy. Saved money not having to get a professional out to do it. Recommend.

Golden Review Award: 181 From Our UsersBuying these drain rods was a last roll of the dice for solving a long running saga that started with a blocked toilet, but escalated to a much bigger problem, with our decking area smelling like a sewage treatment facility; not ideal as we sought refuge during COVID lockdown.

I had tried all the obvious tricks courtesy of Google – plunging, various chemicals, vinegar/baking powder – am sure you’ve done the same. They are fine for superficial issues close to the toilet lid, but this was (if you’ll pardon the pun) a much bigger job.

Having exhausted the quick-fixes without success, my challenge was understanding how my drainage worked (not something I spent much time pondering, when everything was flowing away as normal ). If you have them, dig out the plans for your property and look for ‘foul water drainage’ which is what magically transports bathroom, utility and kitchen effluent away for someone else to worry about.

Those plans gave me a chance of pinpointing the blockage. I found a hatch in my decking that I had never noticed, revealing the foul water exit from my/adjacent property. Whatever I flushed or purged, nothing came out, though my neighbours pipe was working. The stench was only getting worse, and attempts to somehow deploy my Karcher pressure washer were futile, so with pressure from my wife to admit defeat and call Dynarod, I bought these drain rods, which seemed a reasonable investment based on my level of expectation, which was pretty low.

Knowing the pipe in question was straight and roughly 8m in length I thought these were worth a punt. Estimate the maximum length of the pipe in question and then add a metre as you need something to hold onto, and the entry will be below ground.

These rods are bendy, but I wouldn’t expect them to go round bends. I avoided using the plunger fitting as my biggest fear was making the issue ten times worst by getting that stuck deep into my drain system, instead I used the claw attachment assuming the blockage was wipes, fat or a big plug of unmentionables. It looked well designed for grabbing that kind of material.

The drain hatch was very close to a fence but the rods were flexible enough to bend into the drain opening and I was then able to gradually attach and screw them in, extending into the pipe. I recommend wearing gloves, but this makes it a bit harder to screw them tight, but is absolutely essential, going anti-clockwise to lock; you then keep turning the rods in that direction as you push them in, sweeping up the pipe until you hopefully find the source of your problems.

My hopes were fading after attaching the eighth of nine rods when I suddenly felt resistance; for any fisherman it was like getting a bite, but this wasn’t something I wanted to serve up with chips for tea. I twisted clockwise (against the threads) and there was some give, gave it a pull (striking, to maintain the fishing analogy) and bingo, I unleashed the mother-load.

As I whipped out the rods (carefully) I heard a big glugging sound followed by a massive plug of wipes and a river of brown mess accompanied by a smell I am still struggling to shake-off. Despite the offensive nature of the procession – that just kept coming – I was dancing in celebration.

I would highly recommend these rods if you are reasonably certain of what you are dealing with, and the pipe in question doesn’t have an angle above 45 degrees. They have been disinfected ready for future emergencies, though we’ll be more careful what we put down the loo. The best 26 I have ever spent – just the job!!!
