GETTING THE BEST FROM YOUR PAINT ROLLER – useful tips that will save time and ensure you get the very best result for your hard work
1. Before the first use – Wash the roller in cold or tepid water to remove any loose fibres that would otherwise transfer onto the surface when painting. Remove excess water, stand the roller on its end and allow it to dry fully (ideally overnight) before using.
2. The first paint load – Allow the first paint load to soak down to the core by leaving it for 5-10 minutes. This will enable the roller to more quickly reach its paint holding capacity and maximise the amount you apply with each load, improving your painting efficiency.
3. Load the roller evenly – Load the roller with paint and use the roll-off area on the tray to distribute paint evenly across and around it. This will give even application on the surface and save you time by not having to roll out paint that would otherwise be just dumped on.
4. Cleaning after use – Remove as much paint from the roller as you can so as little as possible is wasted or goes into drainage systems. Wash emulsion paints and water-based gloss, satin and woodstains with warm (not hot) water, with a small amount of detergent if it helps. Wash solvent-based paints with white spirit – do not wash white spirit down sinks; use a container and appropriate gloves and dispose of the solvent carefully. Stand the roller on its end and allow it to dry fully (ideally overnight) before using again.

The rollers were great for applying emulsion on the walls and ceiling, providing a smooth, even finish. The tray is practical and sturdy, holding enough paint to reduce the need for frequent refills. The dust sheet was very useful, protecting my kitchen floor from paint splashes.
The only let-down was the paintbrush. It’s not of the highest quality and shed some bristles while I was using it, which was inconvenient. However, given the overall value of the kit, this is a minor issue. It’s a budget-friendly option for anyone who needs a complete set for a few projects and then plans to dispose of it.

If you hate cleaning brushes and rollers as much as I do, then this cheap and cheerful set does the trick. had a large bedroom to paint and this was all I needed (apart from paint). They’re not the greatest quality but at this price I’m more than happy to use them once and bin them. Until the next time. Recommended.
I rinsed the rollers before use. They were fantastic. The smaller ones were great for behind the radiator, in the nooks and crannies and for doing the glossing. The brush was great too.
Just moved into my new home and this was a great little starter kit! Only thing I would say is the roller was spitting out paint not sure if this is because of the material but it wasn’t a problem just had to paint a bit slowe
I thought I’d give these a go as they were reasonably priced for all that came with it. I would usually use Harris but thought I’d have a change. Came well packaged and delivered on time. The only problem I had was when I was glossing the sponge came away from the roller and the plastic it’s attached to which caused the sponge to fall off and land on carpet! Luckily the carpet was covered over but I was covered, good product but will definitely be going back to Harris products.
This is a really good kit with lots of useful bits to use, even has a paint tub opener to save using a screwdriver and even a paint stirer 🙂
I thought it would all be cheap to use only oncebut its all very good quality for the price. Paint brushes lost only one hair after a couple days painting, the rollers are also very good and dont splatter paint everywhere like a rag style roller. Would recommend if you want everything in one pack instead of buying all seperates. There’s even a dust sheet and sheets of sandpaper.
