My 8 year old grandson loves his watch. I bought it for his birthday.
He is not very keen on helping Mum but this watch allows her to set chores which gives him virtual coins, once completed, which she’ll turn into a treat once he’s collected the requisite number of coins.
It was good value at the price I paid.
Great to get children motivated to walk more and encourage doing chores.
Brought for my 6 year olds birthday and he loves it. Comfy to wear and he loves tracking his steps. The game on the app is also a good feature
I have one very happy little Grandson who absolutely loves his watch especially as it is a Star Wars one.
Very pleased with this item that was despatched very quickly with perfect packaging.
son is delighted, me less so, as only after a month of having it, i got a warning the battery was low. most watch batteries last a year…
Bought this for daughters birthday and she loves the watch. Unlike most smart watches and trackers, this has a fixed cell battery and is very low in power consumption. This means no need to charge it every few days, and yet it powerful enough to track steps, exercise and sleep patterns and transfer everything to the app easily.
We did notice that my daughter developed a rash where she had been wearing the watch which we are checking to see if it’s a sweat rash or an allergic reaction to the strap. We hope it’s not as she loves the Disney princess design but it’s something to consider if you’ve noticed that your kid reacts to other plastic materials.
The accompanying app is good, clear and well thought out. There is a game to play, which you unlock depending on how much activity your child has done that day. You can also use it to track a reward tasks such as chores, brushing teeth etc. The game is a little basic but my daughter loves it as features many of her favourite Disney princesses. It features Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan and Rapunzel. There might be others but those are the ones I have seen so far!
Overall, it’s a great, simple tracker with a nice app. Just hope the rash it’s causing is t an allergic reaction!
My daughter loves it ( under 10 yrs ). It’s well made and looks good, not sure how it counts her steps while we are driving but it keeps her happy
My daughter loves her Disney princess vivofit. Can’t recommend it enough.
She is fussy about how things feel against her skin but finds this very comfortable. She wears it everyday without fail.
It was easy to set up and the synced app is a hit with my daughter too. I can set chores for her to complete and it encourages her to get her steps in every day too.
My granddaughter loves it but this was the third one as the first was delivered used and broken, the second was faulty as had no sound and this one fortunately works OK. However the battery ran out after less than a month which is very disappointing
Wow. My 6yr old boy absolutely loves this. He loves seeing how many steps he’s done (he always beats me). Being able to set chores to earn coins is great. And the main reason we bought it was to get him to settle down to sleep at night – he earns coins depending on how quickly he settles.
It’s a strong strap with great colours
This watch is really quite clever. The battery lasts for almost a year, which is impressive, considering all the stuff it can do. It records activity, sleep monitoring, has alarms, allows you to set challenges and rewards, has a backlight and a pretty good app with games that are good for younger kids. It’s also water resistant The app won’t keep older children entertained for long, but the watch is still very functional.
They Bluetooth connection has at times been a bit flakey, but that seems to have improved recently. You need to sync with a phone to set the time (which updates automatically when you sync), alarms etc, so be aware of that. Also the official wristbands cost almost as much as the watch if you need a replacement, and the 3rd party ones can be a bit rubbish.
Overall, it’s very practical, durable and I’d recommend it.
I bought this for my daughter and it is a brilliant little watch. My daughter loves the fact it tracks her steps, she’s always trying to get more than her goal. It’s also great for getting her to help with her chores and homework. You can set little goals on there for them to achieve and then they’re rewarded with coins-for example my daughter receives one coin per chore, like keeping her room tidy, setting the dinner table etc. And she gets two coins for completing homework. If she earns 25 coins she redeems them for robux. It’s also waterproof as she’s forgotten to take it off in the bath a few times!!! Highly recommend.
My daughter loves this watch, up until night or go into a slightly dim room when you can’t read the time or any functions at all. Real shame and wonder why it isnt a standard feature.
I love this as it has chores and alarms on it, which is great for my kids. The battery died after just 4 months, so had to replace, but thats easy. The strap isn’t very sturdy, it has ripped near the buckle, but I contacted Garmin and they replaced it for free. Don’t ask Amazon about it as they will just repair it.
Got this for my sons 6th Birthday. It’s amazing. He loves it. It motivates him daily. He sets timers when I ask him to come off his iPad in 15mins and he comes right off it. He’s always moving to get his steps up. Great for telling the time and time management. You can give the watch coins like a rewards chart for good behaviour. He’s not taken it off since he got it and he’s always been a bit funny about wearing watches before. Great way to get kids motivated about fitness. I would pay the full price for this so it’s a great deal.
My 6 year old loves this, motivates him to reach his goals and loves to play around with the functions setting timers etc. The chores part is a good idea but relies on me to tick it each time he does it so doesn’t really get done. Good quality, the app not very intuitive. Have tried to add people and other families for challenges but I think it’s a bit glitchy as the weekly and daily ones don’t seem to show the same contacts and we still haven’t figured it out yet:
We got this after returning a very poor 12 knock off. We should have gone for this in the first place. The app is excellent and has really helped with our 6 year olds understanding of value. After earning coins she can spend them on treats we set via the app. She loves seeing her progress in the various Disney castles too at the end of each day or 60 min of activity. Highly recommend. Great to check their sleep data too. With gamification and data such as this it is a perfect purchase for an active child.
My son loves this watch, he is 6yrs old. He had the same watch for about 18months but it gave up recently and just won’t turn on 🙁 He was really upset because he really does use it daily aswell as telling the time, he keeps track of his steps, uses the stop watch and I have set alarms on it. We felt we had to replace it!
I can’t comment on the game as my son has barely played it. Instead I set him an amount of coins to collect from his chores/behaviour so he can earn him a reward.
Great watch for the kids to keep track of their steps. Not 100% accurate but not too far off. The battery life is amazing. Will easily get 12 months or longer from one battery. Always on screen. The app is nice to award virtual coins to doing chores and setting alarms and reminders.
Major gripe is with the band. It is not very durable. I go through about 2/3 bands a year. Best to get cheaper alternatives.
I did a lot of research on kids fitness trackers before I ordered this. We had bought her a kiddie one before (can’t name the brand but it’s kids tech stuff) which cost quite a lot as it was a Star Wars one and spent more time in a drawer regardless of its gimmicky games and camera, it wasn’t was DD wanted really. Bought a cheap one off here that broke after 2 weeks, so finding something that could fit the bill was essential this time – 3rd time lucky! Looked at the “main” brands, and seen some negative reviews about this as can’t recharge, but actually, it’s great. The app for avengers is cute, simple, but she’s entertained. She has chores in return for coins that parents control the rewards via the app, it logs sleep if you want to, it tracks her steps and she achieves progress on the game. It shows her name which she think is amazing, and she tells the time. In contrast to the others, this hasn’t been off her wrist for 3 weeks (except for baths!) and she loves the interactivity. DD is 7, suspect prob not as attractive for 10+ year olds. Great buy, happy child!
Very nice watch. Son learns numbers and hours. It motivates him to be more active (step counter + active minutes to enable next move in game). Great idea with gathering coins that child can exchange for things like screen time, etc. to earn them you can define tasks ie. cleaning toys/room, done homework etc.
Really it’s so much fun here and ability to motivate kids for sport and to do everydat stuff that they do not enjoy too much that place this watch well ahead all other watches which just count steps.
Great app. 8 year old really enjoys it.
– Counts steps.
– Very encouraged to build up ‘active minutes’ each day to earn ‘moves’ in an adventure game. This game is on the app so downloaded it to a kid tablet (not my phone).
– You can schedule ‘tasks’ at a certain time. The wrist band will vibrate and show a word/picture to the kid at that time. At then end of the day/week I will tick off the ‘tasks’ they actually completed and the app will award them ‘coins’.
– You can set ‘rewards’ in the app for earning a certain number of coins. I haven’t done this do can’t review that bit.
– The game itself in our Disney Princess version is a story travelling through a map of various story lands (Arial/Jasmine/Rapunzel etc) and completing tasks, reading story cards. Collect gems to unlock padlocks and play tap challenge games. Kids LOVE it.
– The wristband itself has been great. Adjustable one (not stretchy).
– Worn for swimming lessons with no issues.
– Avatar picture can be changed as more are picked up in the game.
– Can personalise screen on wristband with childs nickname.
Very glad we got it.
We bought this for out 6 year old as reward tool and to encourage activity. It does both very well. He loves getting his 60 mins of activity to play the next step of the adventure and does his chores or behaves well to get the virtual coins that we turn into small prizes. Very clever. He competes with other children at school (and us) on Toe to Toe challenges. If you are worried that it’ll gamify their lives then just think of it as no different to the performance mechanisms most corporations use to measure objectives and behaviours in annual employee reviews. Perfectly normal! Although the great thing about the watch that it doesn’t have the ridiculous subjectivity of a behavioural competence review 😉
My daughter really likes this and wears it all the time. It’s helping to keep her active. Only 4 stars though as the only negative is the screen size. Looks pretty, strap just about fits my7 year old on its smallest notch.
I would totally recommend over others though as not having to re-charge all the time is important for a 7 year old.
Two of my boys (8 & 10 yrs) have been bought this watch. It encourages fitness and activity and they have used the app (on my husband’s phone) to set times for activities like piano practice etc.
Perfect for making them feel grown up without the need for any unsupervised access to the internet.
The backlit option for telling the time is ideal in the mornings when they wake up, and they enjoy competing with friends and family about the number of steps they clock up during the day!
A little expensive but a very good buy.
One of my daughters already has this watch so decided to get one for my other daughter. I find it a really good fitness watch. I like that it doesn’t have to be constantly charged, that it’s waterproof (not that we’ve tried this officially), my children like the app. You do need the device with app to sync with the watch regularly though as it does lose time otherwise I find the time goes one minute slow, 2 minute slow, etc until you sync it so I try and sync every couple of days and this keeps the time correct. They love setting timers for things, because they both have the same watch they can do toe to toe challenges with each other which they love. It’s a nice watch and works well the strap lets it down though, they wear quite quick causing tears, and also it rubs a bit on my youngest daughter so she has to swap wrists otherwise it can become sore.
We love everything about this! Everything my 5yr old wanted, to be like her big sisters in having her own fitness watch. The app is amazing, she loves following the map, playing the games, and collecting the coins for doing simple chores such as brushing her teeth. She does a little celebratory dance if were out and about and her goal for being active goes off. A great incentive for little ones And sturdy and robust to surivive little people too. Best purchase she had for her birthday.
I bought this for my daughter for her birthday. Setting it up was fairly easy and it has all of the functions that you would expect from a fitness tracker – but it isn’t as good as a Fitbit which I would have preferred to get her. Syncing the watch to your phone is a bit of a pain, but after a few attempts it does eventually connect. You can set up chores/tasks for your child and use the phone to complete them which rewards them with coins. Unfortunately the rewards are nothing more than additional icons for the watch – it might be better if it unlocked hidden functionality.
Amazing tracker. Motivates our 7 year old to keep active. The chore function is great – it actively encourages them to earn stars after completing tasks. Nice sit down time to see how many stars have been earned during the day. The added bonus – this is fully waterproof and can be used for swimming.
Great for kids to encourage them to do things, little hard to figure out.
Most of it – is on the app on your phone includes the game, points.
Adults can control / personalise things for there children.. add or take things away !! treats, jobs, chores, etc ..
On the APP – Also we can track sleep and when they go to bed !!! Caught her out a few times trying to stay up late.
And activity tracking, steps etc.
Reminds me of a interactive reward chart. We got it half price and was worth it. Not sure I would pay what some retailers are asking def not worth over 60!!
It’s sturdy strap is good she wears it constant and too school. You can buy extra straps online eBay or princess etc ones many types fit.
Sizing is small 5+ years get the older one as it’s like a watch strap.
bought for my daughter, she is 7 years old and loves to run. Her brother is a few years older and has a vivofit 3, this is very similar. It automatically syncronises which the vivofit 3 does not so you don’t need to keep remembering. It is dead easy to use. Our most popular features are the clock, the timer and the step count. You can use it to remind about chores too. It is easy enough for her to use unaided.
The long battery life and the fact it is totally waterproof mean that she never need to take it off.
Daughter was obsessed with the step counter on my phone, now she is obsessed with her own step counts.
Novelty of the step game has worm a little off but she still comes back for more and has encouraged her out on mor walks with the dogs than before.
Great little watch, easy to use for her (7), watch strap a little big but she is very petite.
Pattern on strap is interesting for her but not too garish in real life.
Would recomend.
A really good product, kids find it fun to do the tasks and earn coins for their chores…so all good on that front 🙂 My only critisism is the game in the app, it gets very boring very quickly and by the third day the kids were not motivated by it nor wanted to play it. This is a shame as it is that branding that you pay for, but as long as you are creative in offering other rewards for coins earned then it is all fine.
My son loves it and he wears it everyday. HOWEVER, the battery does not last 1 year! I am not sure what Garmin think “normal use” is. My son wears it every day, syncs it once a day and we are on battery number 2 since xmas 2017. Easy to change the battery but would almost be better if rechargeable as I now have a son who cant wear his band until I get a new battery which I cant get in local shop.
Brought it for my daughter last Christmas. Only worn it for 3 months. It has been great and she absolutely love it until 4 days ago. When only the triangle lights are flashing. Nothing works. I thought it need new battery and brought new battery for it. But still it doesn’t work. Could someone let me know what is wrong with it? Thanks
Updated: Amazon will be replacing another one for me. Wonderful service and thank you. My daughter will be delighted to have it back. I had brought like more than 5 watches for her. Smiggles etc. She will only worn it for a week and lost interest. With this, she worn it even when she is sleeping and never ever loses it.
As with other reviews of this product, it is absolutely great apart from the battery life which gave in after around 2 months.
I ordered a replacement battery thinking that it was probably a duff one and whilst waiting for the replacement battery to arrive, we were contacted by Garmin. They had discovered a software issue resulting in the battery draining really quickly! They offered us a replacement battery at no extra cost (and free p&p) and advised upgrading the vivofit as soon as the battery was replaced to prevent the same thing from happening. We have now done this and all seems good. Only time will tell whether it lasts a full year …..
This is great! Bought for my son’s 9th birthday. We’ve been using it since 28th December and it’s now 13th Jan. I love the way you can completely personalise their jobs, and set the amount they earn for it. Even set the rewards. We have clean teeth am and again pm, music practise, walk dog, pack backpack for school, fold clothes. All the things he hates to do and annoy me that he doesn’t! I reward most coins for what he hates most….3 coins for dog walking, 1 coin for teeth cleaning etc. I have set rewards 30 coins for 5 pocket money, 50 coins for a swimming trip, and 75 coins for trampoline park trip. This is incentivising him to wait and save up. The step counter is perfect, he definitely wants to do more exercise. The timer is fab for when he’s starving and can’t wait for dinner! He says how long? I say 10/30 mins and he sets timer… perfect, he doesn’t keep asking. The avengers storyline on the app is good. I was worried about the sizing of the watch. Some said it was small. Actually the adjustable watch type is perfect for him and he has lots of room. I wondered if it would be to babyish for him, but actually he loves it, and so do I. Perfect that it doesn’t need charging. I have enough to charge! Setup is really easy. Install the app on the adults phone first and then open the box. Setup in less than a minute. Measures sleep and is very accurate, it’s useful to see their sleep patterns.
My 7 year old son loves his watch. His friends at school have also become obsessed with finding out how many steps he’s made throughout the day. He loves the stopwatch function too which he uses when doing Parkrun at the weekend. He enjoys getting rewards from making his bed each morning and other chores. When he reaches a certain amount of coins he gets to play the game on the app. Would definitely recommend. My other son also has the older version and only difference I’ve noticed is it’s not colour but works just as well.
Christmas gift for my 10 year old son. Appears not to have battery issues, although too early to say for sure. My son very pleased to receive this and he has been challenging me to complete most daily steps as I have a vivofit also.
Occasional syncing problems with my Samsung phone, although no issues with my husband’s newer Samsung. All in all, currently a good buy, especially as it had 20 off when I brought it. Only problem now is his little sister wants one!
