Great size for my use.
It will fit a Sony a7iii with the 70-200 ii (May not work with other camera bodies). I can sit a 50mm on top at it still closes. Good pockets for small accessories.
Comes with a little hook strap so you can use it without having to zip it back up every time.
My only cons are
– bag strap is not detachable
– the single strap to hold by hand is in a strange place (assuming it’s what it’s for)
The Positives
– the bag is made by hard fabric inside and provide really good protection. Outside the material I think is nylon, also is hard. They spared no expense when it comes to the materials from which the bag is made.
– the bag “sticks” to your back very well, it is really comfortable to wear because of his shape and compact size. I can wear it all day without any problem.
– as I mentioned I want bag to fit only my biggest combo in cases when I go to short hiking – Sony A7IV + Tamron 35-150 with attached filter and lens cap on it. The length of this combo is around 230mm, fits without problem and you have additional 40-50mm space left. Almost certainly can fit my next purchase Sony 100-400, then the total length of the gear will be 270-280mm, but don’t rely on what’s written because I don’t own this lens yet.
– you have battery compartments and stuff like that, and you can throw phone in the bag (but only horizontaly, it is not possible to be in vertical position)
The neutral
– you have bag handle which is not on the top of the bag but on back of the bag which makes the handle a bit uncomfortable, when you hold the backpack with your hands.
– the bag have suitcase holder (i don’t know if this is the proper term) but this task could easily be performed by bag handle. And instead of suitcase holder could have outside pocket, but v2 of the bag probably will include this feature
– the quick-latching system which is so advertised is not bad, it’s tight, but you won’t use it in the city, because, you know, pickpockets. The bag can be pickpocketed too easily if you use quick-latching instead of the zipper.
The negatives
– I can’t stretch this enough – stitches quality control. The bag looks like it was made by 10yo vietnamese in labor and technology class. All these expensive materials and in the final product you have stitches that are not straight, inside you have pockets that are not with straight form, outside the bag isn’t simetrical. I have chinese bags which cost 15 bucks that are stitched better than McKinnon Camera Sling ! That wouldn’t be a problem, but not if you pay that big price.
– the bag strap is not measure properly. In the middle of the strap you have a soft part that is made for greater comfort and goes over the chest and shoulder, nothing wrong with this, on both sides of the soft part we have strap extensions that connect to the bags. Thes extensions are with different length. Not that this creates a problem, just another example of poor quality control.
– This appears in the bag description, but I will mention it – the bag comes with additional strap which passes through the chest (for better support), but the straps that are for tripod (who stands on the bottom of the bag) are not included. They cost an additional $20 and I can’t find them in Europe.
My conclusion is that if you need a compact size bag you definitely must try this bag, but the poor quality control leaves you slightly disappointed, considering the price.
Top bag, I’ve had plenty of bags since I bought my camera and none of them was as high quality as this one. Gotta say that I bought it also because it’s a PM product, but I definitely am not disappointed. Fits my Kamera with a 50mm lens, my a5 notepad and pen, battery, armstrap, extra 24-200mm lens and some other small goodies. One thing to note is that the steal wire, that makes the front half shape stay as it is, gets crooked sometimes and that makes the zipper scratch the fabric. But it can be fiddled with so it doesn’t happen as often. Other than that, 10/10.
Pros:
Perfect for taking my camera and its essentials out to shoot. Fits everything you need comfortably with excellent protection. Strong and splash resistant and most importantly comfortable and lightweight.
Cons:
The downside is that inside the bag has a lot of lint and dust. my camera looked like is sat in someones woollen jumper on first use. I recommend wiping inside the bag with a damp cloth or using tape to pull most of the loose lint off. I fixed a satin fabric inside the bag as well so my camera pops out much easier and dust free.
Also a personal opinion, I don’t like that big pirate skull design. It’s more appealing for younger people.
The bag is a top notch level item for your camera. It’s light weight, easy to adjust, waterproof (was caught in extremly heavy rain and no water got through). You can adjust the space in the main pocket inside the bag or remove one of the “socket walls” entirely making it convenient to fit the camera with a 28-70(-80) lens attached. There is enough room for an extra lens plus batteries, SD card reader, battery charger etc. After all its a 8L bag which could be considered as a “big” fanny pack. Design of the product is good both outside and inside. I think the price of the product is a bit too much since you can definitely get something for 40-50$, but it will not probably be as waterproof or adjustable.
I’ve always been a bit dubious of small camera bags/slings. I’ve owned two before which were clunky, unattractive and actually couldn’t carry much. This is a game changer, it’s expensive compared to other slings but I can tell it’s going to last. Really good build quality and most importantly, I feel safe putting my sony and lenses in it.
Great bag and saves the back sweat of a backpack (IYKYK)!
Definitely recommend adding this to your kit!
Fast delivery and Perfect sling bag, that is what I was looking for my camera
