Green Jem Dome Caged Seed Wild Bird Feeder, Designed To Deter Squirrels And Also Larger Garden Birds Such As Pigeons And Doves.

Additional ways to deter Squirrels from feeding from your wild bird feeders are:

Ensure that the Squirrel cannot access the feeder by jumping on to it from nearby trees or climbing up a feeding station etc.

That as an extra deterrent to the Squirrels getting onto a feeder a tree hook is used as this will increase the distance between the feeder and the hanging point. It may be worth covering the tree hook in Vaseline as a preventive measure.

Provide a Squirrel Feeder for the Squirrels as this may encourage them to feed from their own specific feeder and leave the wild bird feeder alone.

Also, the RSPB suggest mixing in with bird seed chilli powder as Squirrels do not like the taste of this product while bird do not mind it.

I have already got a couple of these type of feeders from a different seller but I find this one has a very short handle so I have had to modify it so the handle is a bit longer and can now easily hang it on my bird feeding pole

Been trying to stop pigeons, larger bird, and squirrels from stealing food meant for small birds. Past attempts were no use, but this solves problem. Sparrows, tits, and other small species can feed undisturbed, while pigeons, jackdaws, squirrels have their own space elsewhere. Highly recommended

I bought two of these as 3 squirrels decided to chew my plastic feeders to bits I have put these up using a small chain and screwed them to the bird table feeding platform I also cable ty- ed the the top and I had great satisfaction watching the squirrel trying to get the food unsuccessful!!! 10 out of 10

Looks sturdy enough for small birds, light weight, easy to fill. I think the hanger could be larger to allow more space to take the cap off for refilling.
Overall good value for the money.

Perfect for my little birdies. Keeps the pigeons and squirrels at bay

These are a good size and strong, very pleased with them, they keep the big birds away and the little ones get the seeds now

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have had several feeders in the past. this is as good as any and is recommended. They last well and even my squirrels are frustrated by them. The great tits aren’t (photo)

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought two of these as the local pigeon family we’re eating through my bird seed, and tent to frighten off the smaller birds. The pigeons are still finding a way to peck through the cage, but they give up sooner as they tire, and the smaller birds have visited more now. Also 4 stars as the lid doesn’t fit as well as expected and I think overtime of refilling the catch will fail.

Does the job and also the squirrels can’t get to the bird food.

Didn’t have to put it together, as yet no visits from squirrels that have seen. It’s sturdy and the finches have no problems going in cage. The lid fits okay but there is a gap at one side as if its twisted, but rain doesn’t get in. Not cleaned it yet so no comment. It’s worth the money compared with much dearer ones. Would buy another if needed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s unlikely that any feeder will be squirrel-proof – apart from the spinning ones. And I think these are unfair – they don’t give the squirrels a fighting chance!

Just received this caged feeder – it’s well made and robust.

Yes, the smaller squirrels will get in through the large mesh. But most won’t and the larger birds (pigeons, jackdaws, etc) will be deterred. (I will post a down-the-road feedback).

The main drawback is the lid. It is not weatherproof. Rain will get in because the lid is badly made.

This feeder DOES appear to work! Our squirrel climbed up our tree, went to where the old feeder was (and from which he had been regularly feeding from), looked at it, and went off to find something else. It would appear that at last we have found a feeder which really does keep the squirrels from taken the bird food.

I’m very pleased with the product but do have one issue which is lack of drainage at the bottom. I found that seeds at the bottom got wet and grew. Easily resolved by drilling a few small drainage holes.

My local squirrel has worked out how to open the lid.
