It would work better if it had a tripod & away of clipping it to something. The magnetic is fine but unless you have a metal surface to hold it on it’s a bit useless. Good product.
I love the compactness and features of the laser leveller – very easy to use.
The only downside of the purchase was that it didn’t come with a protective case, as my brother ordered the same model from Amazon and came with a protective case.
Good product easy to see, seems accurate ( used to tile 2 bathrooms so far and all good) being rechargeable means I don’t have to carry spare batteries. Would of been nice if it had a case but still good value
For the price, fantastic, laser line is a little broad but you get used to it, only a 3degree +/- range so setting up is a little tricky at firs
Unfortunately I purchased hoping to use it on a project in the garden.
I thought a beam that was capable of traveling 15m would be fine for the 4-5 metres I needed to measure outside, but it isn’t. I tried the polarised sunglasses trick but that made no difference.
I guess that is my bad, I obviously bought the wrong tools for the task.
But I thought I would just mention it in case there was anyone was considering wanting to use it outside as well.
Easy to use and charge laser level. The lines are easy to see as long as not in direct sunlight. Unfortunately it’s fairly useless outdoors on a light surface as the green can’t be seen.
I wanted this primarily for wallpapering and it has been perfect. Over used it on around 50 occasions and it has been flawless so far, touch wood. The screw hole underneath fits perfectly on a microphone stand which I can raise or lower. The level comes with a bracket that I have not had to use yet.
On first use of the level I checked its plumbness with a plumb line and it was dead on.
The batteries did not last long, but that’s because I left it switched on longer than necessary. This will be true of any laser level.
Tip: turn it off between measurements.
More impressed with this than I thought I’d be. Seems to be very bright and clear and being able to choose to have either horizontal, vertical or both lines on is very useful. Neat little case and surprisingly compact unit.
I used this for laying a laminate floor and it was invaluable once you understand how to approach level measuring as the horizontal line is projected a few centimetres above floor level. Look on you tube to see how to do this as it’s easy to do. All other aspects of this level were really useful as the lines are quite bright and even relatively easy to see indoors in bright light, also the self levelling feature is useful as it gives you confidence that all is good. I used this to make sure floor was level with underlay then as I went along adding laminate on top. Also used it to ensure accurate alignment as I went across rooms meaning that everything was dead level in every way. Well worth the money really.
It’s a tad difficult to get set up but once you’ve got it in the position you’re after then you couldn’t ask for anything better. Especially considering the price! I’ve used this to align IKEA kitchen cabinets and it’s been a true beauty.
I’m not sure why I didn’t get one before? I’ve also always used a spirit level to check but I don’t know why I bother – this self leveller has been spot on every time
I wanted the green laser for outdoor use to level some outside lights, but have since used this multiple times and it’s a fantastic tool to have in the kit as a DIY’er. There’s now no more pencil marks on walls while trying to hold a long spirit level perfectly straight. Used this for fitting kitchen units, shelving, wall lights, etc and soon to use it for hanging wallpaper. Set it where you want it and leave it on for the whole job so you can see exactly what you need to line up, without having to check or reach for a spirit level. I keep a metal plate and small screw in its bag so I can screw that to a wall or door frame and let the magnet clip on if I need it too high for a tripod or ladder. A great buy.
When transporting it you must lock the laser carriage in its fixed position, using the slider on the side, so it does not rattle about. You can still use the device with the laser carriage in this position, i.e. you can turn the beams on, but it will not self level (obviously as the carriage is locked and cannot move to a level position). You would use this mode to generate sloping lines. You cannot set a slope on the device, you have to tilt it manually and fix it in position using the supplied bracket or a tripod.
The laser carriage is locked by pushing it over at an angle, so in this mode the projected lines are markedly out of line with the device. This looks a bit odd, but would not affect its functionality for projecting diagonal lines. I imagine that many of these instruments lock the laser carriage in the same way, and it does have the advantage that if you accidentally forget to unlock the carriage you will certainly notice that the beams are not self levelling, however level the device itself appears to be.
Last year I bought a laser measurer (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QWV2KXJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) from this company and it works very well too.
Overall a good product and value for money. Accuracy is difficult to assess as I don’t have a calibrated level to check it against (although I could use a spirit level over short distance). In daylight at distances over 2m the (red) laser lines are not easy to detect against most surfaces and over longer distances they become more difficult to see, especially in bright sunlight. Indoors there is no problem.
The self levelling seems to work well but is very sensitive to any movement and when trying to lock the device the lasers move, so getting an accurate fixed point is not easy. Haven’t tried it on a tripod yet but magnetic bracket is good and gives strong connection to metal surfaces.
I mounted it to a little camera tripod as it has. 1/4″ thread tripod mount on the bottom. Lined the green line with the centre of the joist and set it down while I put up board. Worked perfectly.
The laser is on a swinging pendulum so you can get automatic levelling but I haven’t tried this feature yet, I locked the pendulum in place with the switch on the side to keep a solid straight line, then you just move the tripod around to get the line where you want it.
Battery life is amazing, bee using it for hours and haven’t had to charge it yet. The green lines are very bright and really visible in full daylight. You can choose between both horizontal and vertical, or just one horizontal line or one vertical line. Good feature to have.
Very useful tool to have if fitting plasterboard and marking joists, and even creating a self levelling line for fitting shelves etc.
Outdoors it’s a real disappointment…the red light is so dim it’s really hard to use, anything over 4 metres is impossible. Two options: wait until daylight is fading or it’s dark! Then fine it works, but who wants to do that? Or use white sticky labels normally put on envelopes and stick these to the object you’re levelling (they don’t need to be straight) , easier to see the red laser but still very dim in bright light, neither of these options for using outdoors is ideal. So whilst it’s fantastic indoors , it’s a real disappointment outdoors.
Top brand items were over 100 and even the local DIY stores had less known makes at over 60. This was a much more reasonable outlay at half that price and as an Amazon choice product with good reviews I decided to purchase.
The product itself is really simple to use. It comes with a metal hanger with a magnet to stick to a wall or similar, but that’ll probably be very specific circumstances when you would use that in a DIY environment. I have a tripod which i knew would just screw into the bottom which is what I used on my first try. You pop in a couple of AA’s and turn it on which unlocks the pendulum and allows he light to settle using gravity. The light is BRIGHT. I was just hanging a small shelf and it was really clear where the line was. I have a 5m long living room and when moving in position you could see it beaming floor to ceiling and wall to wall across the whole room.
In terms of simpleness, helpfulness and accuracy It isperfect for what I needed and my shelf is now level and on the wall. I don’t know why i didn’t buy one long ago as it’s a great addition to my toolbox.
It arrived quickly. Was very easy to setup, instructions were brief, but it only has a few functions and ways to use it. The magnetic holder works well. I set up on the side of a metal waste bin at roughly the correct height, it self leveled and through a red led light line around the the three walls. I adjusted it up using the magnet to the right height and then penciled in according to the led line. Checked with my spirit level and it was bang on. Really quick job. Wooden batons screwed onto the walls and bath levelled securely.
I’ve used it since to line up and secure a large TV bracket on the wall and run a conduit vertically up a wall. Would definitely recommend for small DIY jobs.
Automatic calibration is done only in vertical position
A tool that makes it easy for you to work around the house. It’s simple to use. It is more difficult in the open air. On a sunny day, the laser beam is unreadable at 4-5m. I had a tripod around the house. The LOCK function and the translation of the horizontal plane depend on its accuracy. The case is for the level body only.
Light quite strong.
For what I need it is very good, today I mounted a few doses of connections and electrical equipment in a room of 5×5 m and helped me a lot in aligning the doses, at a distance of 5 m the line looks great.
Recommend 100% for the price/features
It’s so utterly easy to get a long straight line across the wall!!!
So I got this laser level out to see about putting my picture frames on the wall. We both squinted at the long red line spread across the entire wall, and declared it wonky. My husband fetched the “old fashioned” spirit level in so we could do a proper job, but first he measured the laser line using the spirit level. It was absolutely spot on as he worked across the line on the wall! Okay, not wonky then! If I’d have tried to put two frames up straight on the wall with the old spirit level there’s no way they’d have lined up, and if I’d used my eyes alone to judge, they would have been seriously wonky as well. It’s moments like that which make a purchase worthwhile.
There’s a lot more to this than simply giving a perfectly horizontal line, such as the addition of cross lines through an additional vertical line, and the ability to set a slanted line. It makes it useful for a great number of uses. Many of which we’re yet to try, but I’m sure we will. We have a raised base shed to level up tomorrow so this, with its long cross lines is going to do things a lot more easily than the spirit level would. We also need to mark and cut some new panels below the slanted shed roof and this laser will make it a cinch, by holding the wood up and simply marking across the set laser line once we’ve established the slant line across. How blinkin’ easy can it get?! Love it.
Having a tripod to go with this would be useful if it’s something you’d use quite a lo
Some benefits over my old Stanley one, well, this one comes with a bracket that has the strongest magnets I come across. In addition to that, it has a lock on it which the Stanley didn’t have. Tis means that you can lock it in transit so that it isn’t damaged and also lock it in use if you want to use it at an angle, for stairs etc.
It has a standard 1/4″ threaded hole on the bottom if you want to use it on a tripod (which I have always found useful). I read some of the reviews on here before purchasing (I didn’t want to spend the sort of money that Stanly are asking these days), and once you get past the ‘poor English’ ones, it seemed to be a pretty good level for the money. Certainly not disappointed now that I’ve got it and a definite recommendation.
