All episodes awesome apart from the last one – high production values, excellant plot, yadda yadda.
And then Mr Spielberg took the day off and let the work experience intern do the final episode.
But not just any intern. No, this was a particularly lazy one who thought “I know, I’ll pocket half the cash and save a ton of
time if I just splice in 30 mins of in-game footage from my XBox for the final climactic fight scene”.
Docking it a star for this, but still really looking forward to season 2.
The game is epic and this series lives up to expectations.
As a fan of physical media, I’m glad this season was put on 4K disc, don’t know if its just me but on streaming this show lacks something which the discs do not, it terms of visuals. Coming from the games some won’t like the series just because they’ve got a set view of what Halo and Master Chief should be and yeah they’ve changed some things for the better and others worse given the fact tv series is a different format than a game this shouldn’t be a real criticism, but for the pure sci-fi this is an excellent show with top quality production and vfx. The audio on the discs coming across on av system blows me away. The discs themselves are a bit plain no images or series art on them but they didn’t cram the episodes onto discs to have fewer discs, not to forget the special features which are worth a watch. Overall I’d give 4.5* as there is room for improvement but hopefully they do continue to support this series in the future
It’s difficult to describe why I loved this series so much without spoiling it. So I’ll just say the casting is absolutely perfect, the special effects are 99.9% perfect and the story is a great way into Halo for anyone who hasn’t played at least the first game or read the first book, The Fall of Reach.
On the technical side, I do notice a stutter to the Blu-Ray playback either before or after a scene change. It’s not my player or TV because none of my other discs do it. It’s not too intrusive, but it’s a very slight blemish on what otherwise is a perfect presentation.
An overall summary of the story is that it’s a great introduction to Halo that feels like if it did not get a second series it would have ended acceptably and been good to watch before playing through the games again.
In a word; excellent. In a sound; waaaaahay!!!
Got a bit bored watching this 1st series. I hope the 2nd series is bette
This was the first time I have seen or heard of Halo, I watch every episode on the edge of my seat, it was fantastic… I just have to wait a year for the second series to come out…. What is to become of the Spartans and the Master Chef….?
Unsure why we dont have the same “disk gripper” that is inside CD drives that holds it firmly but also allows you to remove the disk without seriously bending the disk in the process. You literally risk snapping your disk if you are not very delicate.
This halo series is very good, i am a halo fan since halo 1, ignore the alternate reality types slating the series for not following canon to the molecule, i think the story is very good, the acting, concepts and action scenes are also very good, if you are into halo or scifi movies this series will not let you down.
The 4k bluray also has ridiculous levels of protection on it, so much that i couldnt actually watch my bluray from disk, i was forced to rip it to file in order to watch it which is unacceptable. bluray need to get their act together, allow VLC to play 4k blurays, i felt like i was being suckered into not only buying the content and the hardware but also the software which is not acceptable and has put me off the entire bluray scene.
I purchased this bluray specifically to show support to the creator so they continue to make more halo series but was met with what felt like i was being “suckered” into paying 3 times over just to watch my damned bluray.
Really enjoyed this. Dr Helsey just as she should be.
It’s that good , I’m waiting to borrow it so I can watch it myself.
I liked it. Loved the games for two decades so maybe I’m biased. Be interesting to see how it moves forward. Has little small episodes about the making of each episode in extras which was ok. There’s always going to be something someone doesn’t maybe prefer, but if you like Halo I don’t know why you wouldn’t like this.
Contains 5disks, very good graphics, very well made, if you like the game you will definitely like the film
From computer game to screen, surprised it took so long to get there
Halo amazing series, great story line, likeable and hateful characters. Special affects great too
Not a bad series but could of done with out the pointless side story running along side which in the end didnt go anywhere to do with halo at all with the main story halo also a couple of unnecessary violent bits which need not been put in and too much of master chief with his helmet off and more action needed less talking but on the whole not bad lets hope it picks up with the game story line in season two .
An epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.
HALO the series based on the video game universe is utterly compelling and amazing to watch, I’m a huge fan of the games since the beginning and I think the big changes to the story is a good idea to move forward in a series, some fans maybe over critical but this show has done what is necessary to move Halo forward. Alot of the changes where necessary to adapt to the TV medium, the show can’t be like the games which are 90% shooting and power fantasy while the remaining 10% is the narrative (that’s a bit exaggerative) the show cant emulate gameplay and has to be substituted with something else games can’t provide, the TV show must focus on plot and character development to sustain interest week after week and this show has done an amazing job of that, at the same time we get plenty of fan service with amazing looking visual effects that have created awesome looking covenant that are exactly like the game from Elites, Grunts and Brutes, the weapons are great and the costume designs are spot on especially the Master Chief, the music is great with blends of the official theme throughout and most of Cortana in this series is absolutely amazing! Vehicles, ships all authentic to the games which add the magic alone, a must for fans, really worth giving this series a chance, one of the best TV series in years, good SCI-FI, can’t wait for season 2.
