I was a huge fan of the original Cluedo when I was younger, and my kids are huge fans of Harry Potter, so it’s a great mix! We’ve played it a few times now. Lots of rules and can seem complicated at first, but once we got the hang of it, it was great fun. My 8 year can play it, but my 6 can’t, it’s a little too advanced for her. It does say 9+ on the game though. Highly recommend if you’re into family board games.
Instant hit with the kids… great version of the old classic.
Unusually, the thematic tweaks make this game much better than the original version. My 10 year old loves it.
It was fun to play. A good twist on the original game.
This is excellent. Loads of fun for adults and children who love the movies. Been playing non stop over Christmas. Flume powder to use fireplaces instead of the standard secret passage ways in the classic Cluedo. Dark cards and help cards replace the Clue cards. Love i
Bought his for my fiance for Christmas. Its stunning quality, great value for money, fantastic to play with friends and very engaging.
Had this board game as a kid and loved it. Played it again with my Sister recently and it doesnt have quite the same charm that the older one did but we still enjoyed i
I got this as a gift for a friend who loves HP and they say it’s great. They’ve played it a few times already, and while there are apparently a few rules they are not clear on, it’s still grea
It takes a minute to read the new rules and setup the board but really enhances the Cluedo experience! Not sure why others think it’s too complicated – it’s a little different to normal Cluedo but not that difficult to follow and adds a great twist to an already great game!
ot as well made as cluedo but enjoyed playing, strange having to stick pieces onto the die
The game itself is fines the stickers were missing for the second dice. The characters on the cluedo sheets did not all match those in the tokens.
My family love a good board game, and have given Cluedo a good workout over the years. We’re all big Harry Potter fans, too, so this seems an obvious choice, right?
Assembly was easy enough and would have been even easier if we had read the instructions properly! We had to mount the under-board wheels twice before getting it right, and it’s obvious, really, so we didn’t cover ourselves in glory there.
The game has some nice new features to both aid and hamper the players progress, including the Floo network for fast travel, and the locking / unlocking of rooms. Seeing all the characters appear in the Cluedo situations was good, but felt fresh with the HP universe. If I was being picky, I would say that not having the item’s (think murder weapons) and characters as 3D was a missed opportunity.
Overall, though, we spent a few hours playing it twice through on our first session and thoroughly enjoyed it & will definitely not be too long before we’re back to it. Thoroughly recommended.
Based on the reviews I thought that the quality of the board and the cards would be much worse but it was absolutely fine. (I would give 10 out of 10 for the quality of the board and 6-7/10 for the cards, pieces and dice.)
We really enjoyed playing this game with my 11 year-old son. We played it 3 of us and also in 2 (the 2 players game is not written in the rules but it’s possible).
I worried that the rules would be too difficult to understand, but they were not. If you are playing with younger kids you can play it like the classic Cluedo.
There are a few extra things in this version:
1. use floo powder to travel to other rooms
2. there is an extra dice, with it you can get a Help Card, a Dark Card or spin wheels. If you are unlucky you get a Dark Card – but it’s nothing scary, you can protect yourself with a Help Card or in the worse case you loose some floo powders
3. when you spin the wheels the doors of the rooms will change colours, red doors are closed so you might not be able to enter a room in 1 turn unless you have an Alohomora Help Card
My son asks for the HP Cluedo much more often than for the classic version, so I would definitely recommend this version for HP fans.
This introduces some clever themed updates to the basic game to make it more enjoyable. It’s a bit fiddly to assemble when you first get it but that’s only a one time thing when you use it for the first time. That’s usually the case with many newer board games. Recommended , especially for Potter fans like my early 20s daughters. 🙂
Excellent version of cluedo! Well made, should last years. Great that the spell cards and flue powder are used well in game and provide extra level of challenge and entertainment compared with standard cluedo. Also very Harry Pottery, great links to hog warts and spells etc. My 10 year old and 7 year old can play with no trouble once they have a little adult guidance about some of the general rules and they love it. Good for the adults too as a family game. Too difficult for my 4 year old tho as expected and my 1 year old is useless at it!
Bought for my daughter for Christmas. Any HP lover will thoroughly enjoy it.
Board is of a good thickness, it’s easy to learn the game but not intended as a travel game, but would travel well in its sturdy box. A good all rounde
This is an awesome game with the ‘flu powders’ offering a new take on the conventional cluedo. Being able to travel quickly between locations meant that the game felt quicker too and kept everyone’s attention.
Good family game which arrived in plenty of time for Christmas and made my grand daughter very happy as she loves Harry Potter but also the rest of the family (who are not so clued up on HP) could also play with her! Thanks
Love this game so much fun with extra add ons from the original. Need to read the rules first as lots to learn but once the game gets going everyone gave this a 5 out of 5
First played at Christmas with two board gaming geeks, the recipient of the gift (14 yrs) their elder sibling (18 yrs) and their mum. Took a little work setting up what is an unconventional board that works very well in giving the feel of magical teleportation and transition.
Rules are clear enough to allow a studied first run through that is still enjoyable although possibly designed for the lower to mid teens rather anyone younger to play unless supported by parents. The game length was generous and play involved to keep the participants engaged with a few quirks that set it aside from the original version of Cluedo.
Well worth the money, solid and substantial build, great for both Potter and Cluedo fans alike!
A little difficult to get your head round the differences from the traditional Cludeo. But… a really enjoyable game once you do get the hang of it. We played 2 games just to be able to refer to the rules and instructions but a good couple of hours fun.
The best boardgame we have. Only problem is that you need at least 3 people for this. It is bit more complicated than the others but it is so much fun once you get the rules.
Cannot recommend this game enough. If you are a pothead like I am, even better. There are moving parts, double dice, floo powder travelling and more. Definitely adds another level to Cludeo. My son and I are always racing to the finish line with peals of laughter. Really great for family and friends.
Our HP mad son likes this – the revolving board is great. Bit more complicated than regular Cluedo. Only negative is once you’re out of floo powder, the dark mark consequences have no impact. A great alternative though if you like themed games.
If you love Harry Potter. If you enjoy board games. Then this is for you! Combining the original game of Cluedo with the added elements of spells, dark marks, favourite characters and places this is a great game to play. We love it and it’s quickly become a family favourite.
Expensive compared to standard cludo but there’s a bit more to it with moving fire places and death eater cards. I would recommend for Harry Potter fans and for avid Cludo fans that want the same game with a slight twis
Its good finally worked out the magic onky thing black die is just black there was no stickerz as per instructions which makes following rules harder we improvise with numbers instead.
Deffo fun but super quick my child is too good always gets 2 out of the 3 cards straight away which means games end fast lol
This game has been a big success this Christmas. The game has some additional rules to the ordinary cluedo. Which probably don’t add much to the game but the game is fun – and great if the kids are Harry Potter readers
I’ve bought this as a Christmas present so unsure if the game itself is good but delivery was very quick. However, the box is damaged – it’s got a crease all the way down the top long edge (as if a heavy weight has sat on top of it). I’m concerned if I return it I won’t get a replacement in time for Christmas now
