Bought as a gift for a risk fan and was well received. I’ve not had chance to play the game with them, but they love it and those they’ve played it with have said great things too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this for my kids from the age of 10 to 17. We love playing it as a family. It always get competitive but never in a way that spoils the fun. I even ended up with my eldest inviting friends over to play with him. A must have family game.

I recently received this game, and I couldn’t be happier with the easy and quick delivery. The box design itself is well-thought-out, making the overall experience even better. I appreciate that each player has a color-coded box for their little soldiers, allowing for easy organization and setup. The inclusion of a dice box that prevents dice from rolling all over the board is a smart addition.

The game figures are meticulously crafted with impressive attention to detail. They add a sense of quality to the gameplay and enhance the overall immersion. As someone who has always loved the game Risk, this new game did not disappoint. We had an incredible time playing it and found it to be highly enjoyable and engaging.

Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase. The easy and quick delivery, along with the well-designed box and detailed game figures, make it a standout choice. If you’re a fan of strategic games like Risk, I highly recommend giving this game a try. It provided us with endless fun and a fantastic gaming experience.

If you’re a fan of both Risk and The Lord of the Rings, then this Trilogy Edition is a must-have for your board game collection. The game is fantastically designed, great meeple characters and a wonderfully illustrated game board that transports you right into the heart of Middle-earth.

The gameplay itself is challenging yet exciting, with each player taking on the role of Orcs or The Fellowship. The added element of individual quests and the ring with its corrupting influence adds a new layer of strategy to the game, coupled with the fact you’re fighting your fellow players as like in the original Risk, makes it even more intense.

One of the best things about this edition is that it can be played with 2-4 players, making it a great option for a game night with friends or family. A large quest stack also add an element of replayability, as each game can have a different outcome.

Overall, Risk: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Edition is an excellent addition to any board game collection. Its thoughout design, exciting gameplay, and the immersive experience of exploring Middle-earth make it a truly unforgettable game. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves strategy games or The Lord of the Rings franchise.

Board is very flimsy, so don’t expect it to last long. Tiny plastic soldiers horsemen and cannons.

WAY, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR CHEAP CARDBOARD AND PLASTIC.
    TRY ANOTHER GAME.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe rules are slightly different from the classic Risk board game. It took us a while to read through and fully understand all the rules and the booklet is sometimes not very clear. Watching a youtube video helped us a lot, as the written instructions were not written in a very clear order. Nevertheless, once you understand the rules it is really fun. It takes a while to set up and start the game, so it’s definitely not a game you would play if you were short on time. One game can last up to a few days for us. The pieces are very good quality, the board is really big and the One Ring looks very cool and not cheaply made. It is a bit overpriced for a board game, but this edition is very difficult to find in stores or anywhere else so I guess it is worth the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this game knowing little to nothing about the game.

At a glance, the board can look both complex especially with the rules but after 10 minutes the rules become well established.

The game is done is three phases where you can deploy troops around your territories before attacking enemy states and reinforcing you land to counter enemy counterattacks.

Throughout both play throughs, notice we played the game twice, we dominated different parts of the board. Not only where we building up large armies, we also built alliances and one of my mates was even playing mind games with me, constantly taking me off guard and storming my territories without any warning. This game is extremely dynamic and at one point, we even had a short period of Cold War where nobody would attack and large divisions of troops would build up at borders.

Anyone that is thinking of buying this game, you will definitely not regret it. If you don’t have two players, there’s even a free mobile app where you can practise so one day, you may become the victor.

If I could improve anything about this game, it would be to have extension packages where you can introduce new mechanics to the game such as trade for example. And although I doubt Hasbro will choose to do this, i think I’ll just end up making it myself!

Overall, this game had made my day, I enjoyed every part of it, even when I was getting destroyed by my friends launching their campaigns on my continents, consequently cutting down my military capability.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought for son for Christmas. Didn’t realise it was a minimum of three players so I had to play but was surprised how much fun it was considering it wasn’t the sort of game I would have chosen to play.
Has kept my son, husband and I entertained over the holidays and we have had some serious battles. Would recommend as a great family game.

Great game for 2-5 players. Locked down with only one other person so the 2 player rules with a neutral player is great.

The board is great but the pieces are cheaply made and not enough of some colours!

My boyfriend and I have been looking for board games to keep us busy during this covid craziness. Guys, if you’re looking for a game to lose yourselves in, get this game! Our first game was SEVEN HOURS LONG. It got so intense. Haha. Hours of entertainment and chatting about previous games. Not difficult to learn at all and set up is quick as well!

Fun easy to play game – I struggled a bit with the instructions at first as I hadn’t played it before and they were rather long with different versions of the game. However once we started playing it was pretty straightforward after we had a ‘trial’ game. We played classic risk which took a long time (had to leave it overnight!) but there are other shorter versions (secret mission and capitals) which we will probably play more often. The board is good quality. It was a nice change from screentime and my teenage son enjoyed it much more than a lot of other board games.

I played this as a kid many years ago. The rules remain pretty easy to grasp and the overall game great fun. It can get really competitive, with players getting into the notion of the fate of nations riding on a throw of the dice.

The board and game pieces have all had an upgrade since I last played. The pictures make it look as if the chests that hold the pieces are made of plastic or even wood, but sadly are only folded cardboard. But other than that, everything is good quality.

I bought this game as a present for my Boyfriend. We enjoy playing board games instead of just watching TV of an evening. This game is great fun and lasts the right amount of time (on average). It’s great for those who are competitive, but also has tricks and turns that you are not expecting; so when you think you’re winning a sudden move may mean you’re losing.
Would highly recommend this game, however to start with it can be a little confusing until you understand exactly how to play.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersI’ve always loved risk, but never really had anyone to play with, sad times!
So I’ve played variations on my phone all of which are great fun but nothing like the pleasure of crushing your opponents in the flesh!!!!

I described the game to my 7 year old daughter and she liked the sound of the game, so I jumped at the chance to buy it. I did actually try to find it in a store but nowhere stocked it, thankfully Amazon did!

I have to say I prefer the old playing pieces, which were shapes like triangles, rectangles and cylinders now they are soldiers, cavalry and cannons maybe an improvement on the cylinders actually as that was a pain if the board got knocked and pieces rolled everywhere! I just found them easier to count out and view on the board.

There are now new games to play quick versions like missions where you have to capture your opponents capitals, or take control of a specified continent or 20 or so countries, to be honest You naturally gravitate to capturing continents anyway, so we didn’t bother on those in the end, a game would still span a few evenings!!

Gameplay is as good as ever, and as annoying when you are losing that is!

My daughter won the first game, well I had to engineer that one to keep her interested.
She enjoys it, the wife not so much. Second game I won, third game my daughter triumphed again but by her own merit, she took on board to control Australia as soon as possible, I’ve also never seen anyone able to destroy massive armies or defend with so few troops.

This is still a game that can take a long time to complete, so don’t be tempted to add your rules or keep the cards counters sets to a fixed amount, it does speed up the game when you can trade in a set of cards that then increase the next time a set is traded in, eventually you can get large numbers of troops which can rebalance the game quickly or mop up the board.

One thing we are guilty of is for each new game we deal out the country cards, rather than each of us choosing a country one after the other, I felt it wasn’t fair at the start if you have never played before.

All in all still a great game.

Risk is one of those classic strategy board games you have to have if you like the genre. The secret missions are giving an additional layer to the game too. It isn’t particularly easy to learn and quite a long winded game, so don’t expect to finish in half an hour. But that’s of course also the charm, as you have to think about your strategy carefully. 🙂

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI remember playing this in my childhood so thought I’d buy it for my kids – during this current situation where we’re all locked indoors – and I’m glad I did. The kids have taken to it very quickly and we have had a lot of games since they got it. The board game certainly distracts the kids from the usual Playstation/XBox and has been a welcomed replacement for both of these.

    GAMEPLAY
The game is fairly easy to play although slightly more complex than I remember but once set up it is easy to get into the game.

    PRESENTATION
The board is quite large and the playing pieces are made of soft plastic. It’s a shame the playing pieces (infantry, cavalry and artillery) are not more neatly constructed with some pieces feeling a bit rough. Its also a shame the set didn’t include more modern looking pieces rather than historical-looking pieces.

    OVERALL
I’d highly recommend this game as it will keep kids entertained.

Such a brilliant game, definite favourite in the friends group. We first got into Risk when someone bought us the Game of Thrones version, wed been told the original is great so thought we would give it a go. Love is just as much, even though it’s the same range of games it’s still so different. Can seem complicated at first but just takes time and practice to get comfortable with it, definitely helps playing for the first time with someone who’s played it before if that’s possible.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA great game but not for young kids unless they are very bright and switched on. Quite a lot of rules to learn, and not that easy to grasp the strategy.
Fir me it was great as I had this game as a child and could recall most of the rules. Also don’t expect to finish early as you will need at least 4 hrs for one game with two players and it could go on all day if the players are well matched.
One annoying thing is that the pieces consist of plastic soldiers, cannons, and horseman which might be authentic but are a bit fiddly. The original version just had coloured counters which worked better.

I bought this because of the variants over the original game, and it definitely delivers. Have played with ages from 6 to adult this Christmas. However, the plastic figures are not as easy to handle as the original wooden blocks, and the visual design is rather fussy and old fashioned. The 1960s version looks more modern! Still a very enjoyable and fun game.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe love Risk and have been playing it since the nineties. We like this slightly upgraded version of the game the most as it feels the closest to the original. This is a great game for teens and adults alike. If you have never played, my advice is not to get emotionally sucked in as nothing is personal though it can feel like that when your men are being systematically destroyed. It only means that one of the players has been given the mission to destroy you. Still very enjoyable after all these years.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHaving been introduced to the game of Risk by another family member, we quickly became addicts. We prefer this version to the older version that we had played before as this version has Secret Missions which make the game a bit shorter and add an extra element. The board is visually appealing and there are colour-coded treasure chests to keep pieces together, which was a nice little feature. A great strategy game. Corner of box was slightly damaged due to Amazon driver throwing parcel over the gate, but this does not affect the game.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersRisk is a brilliant game and so well known I’m not going to say too much about the gameplay, just that this set includes instructions for several ways to play including a handy two player version. This set is beautiful, well made with lots of attention to detail and a nostalgic classic feel. The troops come in cool little card crates to keep them safe and a flatpack box is included to stash the cards. The box inlay is nicely laid out and pretty sturdy.

It’s worth pointing out that the dice arrive hidden in one of the troop boxes so if you think they’re missing when first opening the box, check the rest of the items before complaining.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersEasily one of the best purchases I have made this year. I’m sick and tired of getting beaten at risk every Christmas when i go to visit family.. this year they wont know what’s hit them!

This is a really nice set. The standout feature is the really nice looking board, there have many incarnation of this board and this is definitely one of the nicer ones. The pieces are all plastic and very well molded, you can really see the detail which makes lining them up in formation while you wait your turn all the more fun.

This set comes with a very good set of instructions and secret missions cards so there are a few different variations you can play depending on how much time you have. The best piece of advice i can give is make sure you are playing with people who actually want to play board games. This game relies on everyone paying attention, participating and not giving up! Its easy for someone to want to walk away once their army is very small and this can ruin the game.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this and it took me about 3 weeks to convince anyone to play it as everyone was put off by the extensive amount of rules!

I finally convinced my partner and friend to try it (after a few drinks), the rules make the game sound complicated, it’s not as bad as it sounds! After a game of referring to the rules constantly we had another game which was great fun.

The the peices are great and it all feels great quality. There are 3 game modes. I recommend playing the secret mission game as this is quicker and adds more mind games!

As your buying this game and you have read all the way down to here, take Australia first if you can! It is a great base!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersVery good version of the game with armies in clearly identifiable colours (new version the blue and grey armies are barely distinguishable) and mission cards. Also each of the armies come in their own box which makes for easier management and storage of the many little pieces. The modern version they come in a plastic bag which you cut open, and then have to find/use your own resealable bag to store each army – seems a pretty simple issue they could just fix.

Also the game board is more detailed than the new version, this gives a bit more detail and looks more authentic and fun. We played with the new version on holiday and decided to purchase one of your home. After reading the reviews, saw that there are differences on the version of games and now having purchased and played with this version, are much more pleased with this more interesting and easier to play version. I would suggest this over the newer cheaper version of the game.
