Hornby R070 00 Gauge Turntable Electric

R070 Motorised Turntable

The turntable is designed to operate with the Standard Train Controller R965. Drive the locomotive onto the turntable, then switch the power from track to turntable via the ‘on-on’ lever switch R046 (supplied with the set). Your speed controller now controls the rotation of the turntable. If you are using an HM2000 controller, then the turntable must be powered from the uncontrolled DC output with an R047 Lever Switch, ‘on-off’, not from the speed controller output.

I only recently installed this in my model railway. It works very well and pauses at each of the possible exit points for the engine. The wiring of power to the unit is slightly complex but the description from the manufacturer is clear and just follow the diagram and it will work fine. It actually provides power to which ever track the turntable is aimed towards and turns off the other tracks. I hope that you enjoy it. I do.

Got this for my son’s layout, he assembled it fairly quickly. All works well with his OO guage layout, he is very pleased with it. Good value for money, would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFairly straightforward to set up, will run with any DC controller and fits MOST large Tender Engines & Diesel Locos.

    However, there are issues:

The motor itself itself is a cheap type 7 motor which is noisy in it’s housing.

The handrails that you can fit onto the main turntable bend way too easily, feel cheap and do not stay on properly.

The special track pieces are elevated at a high angle and will cause larger engines to derail.

Other than those issues, it’s a decent turntable for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent operating Turntable with flaws

Finally took the leap and spent the exorbitant fee to gain some control over my layout.
Took several hours to set and wire it into place, but now it feels part of the set up.
I couldn’t be happier with the turntable, it makes a convoluted switching yard so much more manageable.

Had to be returned as item too large for layout restrictions. Worked perfectly

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersMy 7 year old grandson purchased the turtable out of his bBirthday money to go with his Model Railway in Grandads loft. This product does exactly as it says in the box ,it was extremly easy to connect and modify for DCC operation .I downloaded the instructions from the Hornby web site and purchased the necessary chip. Not ever having wired train accesories was rather nervous. but no need to be it wes easy.
I would recomend this item .Having read the review about it being tired and having to rest I can only say with DCC operation it works continuous and no sign of strugling

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersNo nonsense, does what it says on the box, educational because thought has to be used to work the toy. I had difficulty connecting the electrics and then found the trick space on the tracks! Someone might have told me.
