4 m of hose allows for use all round the outside of the house. Easy to wind in. This is 2nd one I have. 1st one leaked after 10 years (?). Could not split it apart to cure leak. Screws too far down deep holes.
I previously bought the fully manual 25m wall mounted version, but you had to manually move a sliding mechanism to ensure an even rewind which wasn’t very successful. So returned and bought this. Very good and easy rewind. If a lot of hose pulled out then it makes rewinding easier if you pull some of the hose nearer to the holder. Comes with the wall mounted guide. Overall, the best hose reel I have owned.
I decided to treat myself to one of these as a few friends have got the self wind version. So far I am very happy. I decided to go for the manual wind as I figure, possibly there is less to go wrong than the self wind mechanism but you do get a 5 year warranty (that you need to register on receipt). It was pretty straight forward to install but you will need a decent drill/drill bits for the wall, but you can always just leave it sat on the ground. As other reviews have mentioned the pipe does seem to have a habit of kinking, but equally it is easier to unkink than other hosepipes I’ve used. The manual wind mechanism is very smooth and is so much easier than your standard hose reels. I got the 40m version so it will reach all parts of my garden front and back. Definitely a good investment.
Very, very easy to reel back in. It’s very long as well. The watering gun that it comes with isn’t great, but I’ll just get one that suits my needs. Overall, incredibly happy with this
Would be 5 stars if they offered it in green as they did in the past. Bought to replace the same item (no need to change the wall fittings. but I did as the old ones were faded ). It was circa 10 years + old and was just starting to leak.
I bought this for my mum so she could water the garden easily and it’s ideal. The self-adjusting wind-back mechanism is excellent and the hose goes in and out easily and unkinked. The build quality is excellent and the assembly was a piece of cake. It mounted on the wall very easily although I used the supplied screws with Fischer wall plugs as the supplied ones looked a bit iffy.
This hose reel works well and is easy to use. The installation was fairly easy with the main bracket going up quite quickly. The hose guide was more difficult due to the two part assembly and longer screws. However it all went together eventually and water flow through the hose is very good.
This hoze works great. It’s nice and long. The winding back into the casing works very well. It is a much better casing than the other cheaper one. This is unlikely to break as there are no moving parts.
The unit is very easy to attach to the wall using supplied screws and can be easily unhooked for storage during the winter. The 40m hose is long enough for all jobs and despite the length it is very easy to reel back into the wall unit using the large handle.
Has a useful holder for the feeder hose to be stored when not in use which stops it trailing on the ground where it could get broken.
The hose guide bracket with rollers make it very easy to pull the hose out for use and takes the strain off the wall unit.
It’s a big hose reel but that’s what I wanted as I have a larger than average garden but the only thing I can fault this hose reel with but this is most probably all hose reels is when you go around bends it don’t pull out you have got to pull a few lengths out but that is my garden.flower pots Benches table and chairs etc.
Fitted this into my garage, installation is quite easy and straightforward, the unit itself although bulky looks good and keeps everything tidy, my old hosepipe was always tangled up on the floor. I bought the 40 metre hose as I have a large garden, so to release it you have to pull it quite firmly, winding the hose back in is much easier, the hose itself is soft and slightly stretchable not hard plastic like others, but it kinks far too easily and often which is a pain especially for what it costs.
Why didn’t I buy this product on 2 July 2021, instead of the Chinese made wall mounted reel, with its shelf life of 20mths? It looked good, appeared to work well until water started pouring out of the base of the unit; having checked the supplier on Amazon, it was found to have been made in China by a manufacturer no longer used by Amazon. A very disappointing product with a short shelf life. I’m expecting a much improved life span & performance from this new Hozereel!

This item was bought to replace a free-standing hose reel, which used to drive me mad with its ability to kink any hose installed in it. This one does not kink: the hose easily glides back into its housing by means of a smooth-running handle and a hose guide. It is essential to install the guide, otherwise it simply does not work. It can be tricky to install the hose guide, as it means kneeling down low to drill the screw holes.
The hose is good quality, and the whole assembly is simply lifted off for winter storage.
Highly recommended.
18 years old and the inding mechanism failed. I’m not surprised but I am delighted with the new replacement. Much smoother rewinding. Much superior hose. Looks great and works very well. speedy delivery and easy to install. Perfect.
What a super hose and reel. I am so happy I purchased this one. I was close to buying the fully auto hose & reel but having found them difficult to use and reading the same in reviews I checked this one out. Whilst youo have to reel it in with the handle, the auto wind system inside stops the hose from jamming, something I’ve struggled with other models. The quality of the hose it far better that my old one. It is very easy to insall and hang from the wall, took me 20 mins. Very good variable hose spout allowing you to water all types of plants. Very clever guide system that helps the hose be pulled in the right direction away from corners of walls etc. There’s even a small lock that stops any ‘little hands’ ripping the hose out when not in use. Score out of ten…..eleven!
Works well doesn’t pull you and doesn’t get stuck like the automatic one not recoiling all in. If you are after a reel go for this one you won’t be disappointed
My previous hose reel finally gave up and needed to be replaced. I purchased this unit which is more compact and appears sturdier. I went for the manual recoil as opposed to an automatic as I prefer the reliability.
So far so good. Seems really good quality. Easy to fit. It wasn’t clear but the separate hose guide is included with this. It extends and retracts very smoothly. Very handy that it can be removed and used elsewhere in garden. Recommended.
Excellent value … its was actually 45 cheaper than bandq ..
Installed on wall yesterday and so far so good…. very ling too.
Be careful when installing it comes with a one way flow valve on the wrong end but all you have to swap it to the other end of the hose .
I bought a different Hozelok hose reel last year and vowed never to buy another. It was a dreadful product. My son convinced me against my own judgement to try this model..
He was right it is a good product. I don’t understand how such a miserable reel as the last one was ever allowed to be marketed
This hose reel was bought to replace the exact same model (apart from this one is grey and the previous one green). The last one had provided nearly 20 years of service but it was the time to replace it. The new one slotted straight onto the old wall fitting so the mounting kit supplied was not needed. Delivered very quickly and at a very good price.
We bought the green plastic hozelock fast reel several years ago which has always played up by being hard to pull off the reel and even harder to wind it back onto the reel. Also the water pressure was never really that good. It died a few weeks ago when it refused to wind back up so I decided to buy the newer yellow plastic fast reel as a replacement. The difference between the two is huge. The water pressure is so much better and I can now water the garden without really moving form the reel. It is also so much easier to pull off the reel and very easy to wind back up. One thing we have done differently is that the hose guide supplied with the first fast reel we used to guide the hose around a corner of our house. The hose guide supplied with the second fast reel we used to guide the hose when pulling and winding the hose by installing it directly under the mounted fast reel. I think that this change makes pulling out and winding back so much easier. Very pleased with the new hozelock now and even enjoy using it to water our plants or wash our cars.
This is a sturdy wall mounted hose unit.
It comes with all the fixings you need to fit if solidly to your house wall. It feels rock solid once it is in position – but you can easily lift the whole cable unit off should you want to store in a shed over the winter.
The hose supplied is a good quality Hozelock product which doesn’t kink!
I usually pull out all the hose I want whilst standing by the unit, and then drag it across my garden to where I want it to be. I guess you could just grab the end of the hose and set off – but I get the feeling that there could be a lot of extra strain on the roller unit if you did this, and I’m a bit risk averse in the garden hose department to be honest.
The hose winds back into the unit with no drama. Although, again for caution, I have been dragging it to the top of my lawn before pulling it in with one hand and winding with the other.
Overall I’m very happy with this unit. I ordered this by accident, if truth be told, as I originally wanted the one with ‘automatic rewind’ but pressed the wrong button!
In the end I’m happy to stick with this one, and also saved about 50 pounds by getting this model (with the same length hose).
Great product for those who have trouble getting their hose to the far corners of the garden, or out the front for washing the cars.
Be aware you either need to be confident enough to drills holes into your wall yourself to install this, or know someone handy who can help. There are 8 holes to drill, 4 for the reel mount and 4 for the guide mount. The reel sits on to its mount really easily and connects to the tap by a separate 1m hose not part of the reel, meaning the unit can easily be removed if required (for example for storage over winter).
Once mounted you need to attach the Hozelock adapters to the hose reel, a fairly easy task that only takes a couple of minutes. It comes with all the bits you need, you don’t need to have any existing Hozelock attachments. The hose it comes with is OK, but very basic, I’d recommend buying the Hozelock Multi Spray Pro Gun which just clips on and offers much better control of the water. Brilliantly the adapters mean you can swap to different Hozelock products without switching off the water, when you remove one attachment the water
Once you’ve finished using the hose just wind it back up. Once the water is off and the hose wound back I’d recommend draining the remaining water in the hose.
Overall I’m very pleased with the product, much easier to use than my previous hosepipe and it looks nice and tidy mounted on the wall.
It may seem strange to you, it actually feels a little odd to me, but I did extensive online and in-store research before purchasing this product. Why is this strange? It’s a jolly garden hose for goodness sake! Anyway, my research clearly demonstrated all of the problems faced by me and countless others with the humble garden hose.
I hate having a hose lying around, looking untidy, collecting leaves and, worst of all, presenting a trip hazard for me, my wife and grandchildren. When you enter the world of hose reels however, you have to be prepared for other hazards.
Most of them are shockingly bad. If spring loaded they tend to either lose their spring effectiveness or go the other way and put up a fight when you want to actually use the blasted hose. Sometimes they just mess with your head and lock and unlock randomly! The manual reels are also terrible. They mangle the hose, causing flat spots that tend to make even so-called “kink proof” hoses kink and eventually even crack.
This Hozelock beauty is a masterpiece! It is heavenly to rewind manually and it keeps the hose in great condition. I live in Australia and give my hoses a pretty good workout and this one is the best I have ever seen. Is it perfect? No. I do find that the hose reel itself, being free standing, does tend to move or fall over sometimes. I can work around this but I would prefer to see some soft rubber pads put on the base by the manufacturer to give it more grip and much less tendency to topple or slide. Remember, this is the free standing variety and I think “standing” should be a reasonable expectation.
Just one more point for any Australians who venture here. Our currently strong currency means that we can buy this product from Amazon UK and have it shipped right to our door in just a few days for a total cost that is much less than the same product is being sold for locally in Oz. I paid a total of GBP 79.21 which was exactly AUD 123.50. At the time local prices ranged from $279.95 to over $320.00 so my research turned up not just a great product but a great price too.
