I had bought an Alloy Origins mid-last year and brought it to work recently while rebuilding a new PC. Bought this one when I needed a replacement, and it’s honestly nicer than the first one. I believe the first one had copper switches and this new one has the aqua switches, which feel much more clean and concise on typing and gaming. The keys are slightly less sensitive, and much more accurate. I love the way this keyboard looks when you include some of the Pudding Keycaps by HyperX as well. Colors run smooth and the HyperX NGenuity is very simple to understand, so customization is a breeze. Bought a HyperX keyboard for my brother for Xmas and he’s loving it as well. Absolutely a great buy for gamers or computer set ups of all types.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe switches are quieter than I was thinking they’d be, but the keys themselves are loud enough even if the switches are not.

My biggest issue is that software required to adjust the color settings is for Windows 10 and up, while the desktop machine I’m currently stuck with is Windows 7 and cannot be upgraded. My workaround was to install the NGENUITY software on a Windows 10 laptop, connect and program the keyboard there, then move the keyboard back to the old desktop.

**The Windows 10 requirement is something that needs to be made clear on the product’s page.**

The keys have a solid feel with a moderately heavy keypress, and the keycaps feel good to my fingertips: smooth, but not *too* smooth. The detachable cable is a plus, as are the two-step legs. The keyboard itself is heavy and solid, and does not slide around while in use.

Overall, I am quite happy with it. Four stars only for the lack of clarity on the product’s page.

I got this for 88 euros which is an amazing bargain for this keyboard, It’s compact it’s clean the lights are very strong, and the software is just fine despite what other people might say it does its job just fine.
The one thing that you might dislike is the space bar being a bit wobbly and not as sturdy as the other switches, but it’s barely noticeable, overall a great keyboard for the original price and even more on sale.

    A very good Keyboard

For some time I was looking for a mechanical keyboard at a good price and just came across a bargain, I bought this keyboard for around 75

+ Aqua Switches feel really nice they are Tactile.
    + Feels sturdy, solid.
+ RGB or ARGB looks very good.

    – ABS Keycaps they are catching lots of dust, and getting oily quickly, so you need to clean them more often.

Cable is on the right side of the keyboard for some people it can be annoying not on my case.
If something happens, I will try to update the review.

    Great Keyboard, Great Switches

After researching many well known gaming keyboards, I took a bit of a risk to try this keyboard due to its price, great reviews and meeting all my specifications. I am so happy with this keyboard. It is the best value for money for what you’re getting. Great sturdy keyboard with some solid weight, keys (aqua) have just the right amount of clickiness that is not loud and still has that push down feel. Love the array of colour lighting choices that can be controlled from desktop and saved in three profiles. Highly recommend!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m a typist, not a gamer!! However, after about three weeks of researching and learning all about mechanical keyboards and the different types of switches etc, I was more confused than anything. I figured that gamers are pretty hard core types of people and so keyboards made for gamers would be top notch. In the end, I picked this keyboard because I had a HyperX headset that was absolutely second to none (unfortunately they came with a job, and I had to hand them back when the job finished).

For me as a typist, this is pretty much the perfect keyboard. I prefer a full-size keyboard and this one is sturdy and adjustable. The keys themselves (HyperX Aqua Switches) are light and responsive. I learned how to type on a manual typewriter, so the noise doesn’t bother me. It’s not particularly loud, anyway.

I highly recommend this keyboard to other typists especially, but also to anyone in general who is looking for a well-performing product at a good price. HyperX had a good range of keyboards which will suit most people.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersLove the clicky-ness and feel of the keyboard.

My words per minute (WPM) increased 10-15 on average using this keyboard versus standard ones/non mechanical keyboard

For gaming it’s okay. I’d go for a liner keyboard (red ones if you want the same brand) instead of these aqua tactile switches if you plan to use it for gaming only. This keyboard is a good all rounder if you plan to use this for other tasks along with gaming. I’d all get the 60% over the full version for gaming since you’re mainly focused on the WASD keys and other letter keys for chat.

LED lights are great, especially if you’re a gamer and have a gaming PC with RBG lighting. Able to adjust the settings/pattern via separate app/program. Only able to set 3 profiles. Also have macro customization options. Wish there was on board customization.

If you plan to customize, it does NOT have on-board memory. Must have the program always running on your computer. Not good if you switch computers often, or if you’re traveling

Key caps are smooth to the touch. Does collect oil and fingerprints if you have dirty fingers. Keycaps are replaceable. Text on key caps is very visible at a glance and has RBG lighting

Would be great if there were more media controls

I like the weight on the keyboard. Will not slip during use, no need to put a grip pad under it

Has removable braided cable (USB Type C to USB). Input plug for cable is USB-C. Wish they did Type C to Type C and included a USB-A adapter instead to better future proof the product. Also the plug is on the right hand size instead of the left which is an odd design choice

Life span of 80 million keystrokes. Even if you game using WASD keys, should last you a long time. Even by the time it starts deteriorating, you most likely go for a new model by then and already well worth the cost

Overall, very good keyboard in terms of functionality on the hardware side. Software not so much as with the lack of onboard customizatio

Responsive, Ergonomic Keyboard. No On-Board Customizatio

My first mechanical keyboard so I was a bit overwhelmed by all the options, especially which type of switch would be best. The Aqua switches are nice and clicky without being super loud, but also not super sensitive to touch. A really good in between. A bit expensive, but it looks beautiful and feels great, so overall I’m happy with it.

I bought this after using a Razer Blackwidow Chroma and this keyboard is an absolute must have. I was on the fence about buying this product as Hyperx is generally known for their headsets, not their keyboards. However, I trust the brand and the company.

I fell in love with this keyboard the moment I unboxed it and plugged it in.

    Pros:
    – The keyboard can be disconnected at the base of the keyboard (instead of the usb port) for easy cleaning and transport.

    – The keyboard is HEAVY comparatively to most mechanical keyboards I’ve used. I absolutely love it as it not easy to accidentally move the keyboard while gaming. Also, it gives it a nice quality feel to it. It has a metal base (NOT plastic).

    – The keys look pretty standard for a mechanical keyboard and they feel fantastic/responsive to type with. You can also replace the keycaps should you desire but I see no reason to do so unless it’s for aesthetic reasons.

    – The software that it comes with allows you set different color sets for specific keys. For example, I have WASD set as blue. QERTFG set as orange and everything else set as purple. I love this!

    Cons:

    – My “F” key paint is chipping. By looking at it, it’s hard to tell it’s an “F” on the keyboard. However, that doesn’t impact typing or my ability to do so. It’s only a minor gripe. It’s mainly from wear and tear as I use this keyboard for everything: gaming, emails, work, social media, etc.

All in all, purchase with confidence! Another great product from HyperX/Kingston. Highly recommend!

After 6 months of everyday office and entertainment use – this is a very robust and durable keyboard, and definitely can compete with even more expensive peers. Thr responsiveness is perfect for fast typing and gaming. The feel is solid thanks to the aluminum body. Lights are customizable in a lot of different animations. The only thing that could be improved is the software/app. Great product.

If you’re looking for a good mechanical keyboard for gaming, I would highly recommend this one. Not only does it sound nice with its HyperX Linear red switches but the RGB looks fantastic with its bright colours. Although people say that linear switches aren’t that efficient for typing, I personally enjoy typing with it as well.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersPackaging and Delivery: Came a day earlier than expected. Packaging was good. Transportation was also good as there was no sort of damage on the internal or the external packaging. Kudos to Amazon on that!
    The box contents were:
    The keyboard
    The detachable USB Cable
    User Manual
    A Warranty Card
    A Welcome Card from HyperX
With that out of the way lets move on to the juicy part!
I am using the Hyper X Alloy Origins(Aqua Switches) to the write the review.
Keys: I have been using the cherry mx brown switches since I’m not a big fan of the linear red or the clicky blues. And honestly I must admit that the these switches are bit smoother than the mx brown. I don’t know what magic HyperX has done but whatever it is I like it.
Sound: I like how the keys sound, its music to the ears. I’m disappointed on how the space bar and the backspace sound. Its not that bad but yeah it’s like a noise to the music these switches produce. The backspace isn’t that bad but there is a lot spring ping sound from the space bar. You’ll get used to it I guess. I’ll tell you about whether I got used to it or not when I update this review. Apart from the space bar the keys are not obnoxiously loud like the MX blues, no one is gonna complaint about you typing or playing games on this keyboard, but they may complain about the space bar XD
Keyboard: The keyboard footprint is slim profile. Minimal Bezels so if you have a tight workspace/gamespace like me, then this keyboard is gonna be a big fit. I have the full layout version, the TKL will save you even more space. There is a 65% version of this keyboard out there but unfortunately not in India.
The keyboard has two inclination legs. Do you need a wrist rest? Not really unless you type for long hours. But even so they keycaps are not that high so as to make buying a wrist rest mandatory.
The keyboard is adequately heavy giving it the premium feel. There is no flex when in the normal or any of the two inclination angles. The USB cable exits from the right and there are no other routing options so keep that in mind.
Keycaps: So far the keycaps have not picked up any oil or fingerprint. The texture is smooth and soft to touch. Only time will tell how these hold up, but even so I’m guessing it will last a long time before you have to actually replace them.
RGB(Everyone’s favorite topic I guess, well almost everyone): Per-Key RGB with the option to customize however you want. There are three levels of brightness excluding the off option. The lights are bright as you can see in the image when compared to the full brightness on my laptop keyboard. The light shines through the FN options as well so you dont have to worry about that being a problem at night.
There are three presets available on this keyboard which you can customize any way you want.
The Ngenuity software: So the reviews on Youtube state that you need to keep the software running in order to keep your lighting setting running, since then HyperX has updated their software. Yes it is still only available on the Microsoft store, but the days where you had to keep the software running to light the keyboard the way you want are long gone. You can customize your keyboard whatever way you want and then the software has an option to save to keyboard which as it says allows you to save your profiles to the keyboard. Once its saved you can exit out of the software and the lighting you chose will still work. As a matter of fact the purple color shown in the images doesn’t have the software running in the background.
Gaming: I only played Destiny 2 with this just for 10 mins and I enjoyed it. The switches are not gonna be a bother to you in any way.
Conclusion: Its a great keyboard and if you can find it on sale like I did for 7300 Rs. Its a steal. If you are new to mechanical keyboards and wants to try one, if you have the money I would definitely recommend this over any other in the this price segment. Though this keyboard does have a rival of sorts (Keychron K2 V2), it also comes for the same price tag of around 7200Rs and its wireless (can be used as wired too). It has its own use cases depending on what you use it for(mac users are gonna love that thing).
I’ll update this review as time passes or I find some cons. As for now I cant really find any cons
So yeah thats my review for the HyperX Alloy Origins (Aqua Switches). If you found it useful, consider leaving a like.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis review is for the HyperX Alloy Origins keyboard with HyperX Aqua keys.

The quality of the keyboard itself deserves a 5+ rating but, as many others have pointed out, the software is terrible. I have been using Logitech keyboards for the past 20 years and their software is excellent. My longest lasting Logitech was a G15, which was still working great after 9 years, but I decided it was time for an upgrade. My most recent was the G810, which lasted 4 years before the left CTRL key broke. Since their proprietary ‘Romer-G’ keys are very difficult to replace, I decided to go with another brand this time.

PROS: I really like that this keyboard is well-built with a solid metal frame (unlike the plastic Logitech frames). The Alloy Origins keyboard is the same length as the G810, but smaller in width. Once I figured out how to use the horrible software, I like the control I have over the color and effects on each individual key. I also like that I had a choice between the type of keys (Aqua, Blue, or Red) and that they are the widely available Cherry-MX keys. The Aqua keys only make a significant sound when you press hard enough to ‘bottom out’ the key. There appears to be a very good system for recording macros/key-presses, and for linking presets to individual games, but I don’t use that very often. NOTE: On the G810 only the letters/numbers on the keys were lit, on this keyboard the lights ‘bleed’ out from under the keys resulting in a lot more light. I haven’t decided yet whether I like this better or not.

    CONS:
    – The software! I searched and watched You-tube videos for TWO HOURS before I found one that showed me how to change the color of individual keys (tip: you have to add multiple layers of effects). There are virtually NO INSTRUCTIONS provided with the keyboard other than to show you which end of the USB cord goes into the keyboard. Almost all of videos I found were just showing off all the different effects (wave, explosion, sunburst, etc…) which I find to be totally useless. I’m 67 years old, I have been playing video games since Pong (1975) and I just want to be able to see the keyboard in low light and find certain keys.

    – I also had to research what the differences are in the Aqua/Blue/Red key types. Is it so hard to add that to the product description?

    – Another CON is that the software is only available through Windows Store, which happens to be broken on my account on the PC. I had to create another account so I could install the software, but I can only run it as that user. Why not just have a download link on the company website and install the software like a normal program?

    – I also don’t like that I have to use two keys (FN + another) to turn the lights off/on and to control the sound and media controls. The reason this keyboard is not as wide as the Logitech G810 is because that keyboard has a row of individual keys for all those things (including a ‘rolling’ control for sound, which I used very often).

SUMMARY: I’ve had the keyboard for about a week now, and I think I’m going to really like it. Now that my key colors are set, I probably won’t have to use the software again. I will get used to using the FN key to control things that I used to control with one key, but the real test will be how long this keyboard lasts, and how easy will it be to fix a broken key. (I did buy a 4 year warranty this time…)

This keyboard has a very simple and clean design that just looks very nice sitting on my desk. The RGB is extremely bright–much brighter than my razer huntsman–and it has a ton of customization that can be done through the Ngenuity software. The software runs much better now than in the past and I have been able to load many custom profiles created by Mars on Youtube who posts free custom RGB lighting profiles on his channel. I probably have over 20 custom profiles downloaded and the only downside to this is that there are only three onboard profiles that you can cycle through right on the keyboard. All that aside, the keyboard is a joy to type on and the aqua switches I have feel much better than the red switches on my brother’s keyboard (not Hyperx branded). I would recommend switching out the keycaps on this board to something like the razer PBT keycaps that I currently have on or the hyperz pudding keycaps which are harder to find right now. I also love the macro customization on the software as it has allowed me to remap some media keys so they are readily available. I would recommend this keyboard to anyone looking for a solid keyboard that won’t break the bank and will still feel like it is worth much more than you paid.

So I recently purchased this keyboard, my first mechanical keyboard. I have had a steel series membrane gaming keyboard for over 5 or 6 years now (and loved it). I finally felt it was time to upgrade. As I’m in grad school and game (when time allows) I have been looking at moving to a mechanical keyboard that is good for typing and gaming. After a lot of research in to switches I settled on something like a cherry mx brown switches, which is exactly what the hyperx aqua switches are.

The truth is this board was on sale during Prime day this year for a great price. It was the best reviewed keyboard I could find for the money during the sale (there were other brands but I have given up on some top gaming brands, just won’t put them on blast), so I pulled the trigger, made the purchase. I could not be happier so far with my experience. Going from a good membrane keyboard to a mechanical w/ the Aqua Switches has been seamless. It feels good, isn’t super loud, and tactile enough to feel comfortable and familiar. I like the cut down, no frills design, that is just how i prefer things in general. I will update if anything changes but so far I would recommend this keyboard to anyone who needs a good keyboard for both gaming and typing.

The keyboard is comfortable, but I did also buy the hyperx wrist rest too, and so far it’s very comfortable and well made. Just for the way I position my hands I’d recommend picking that up too.

I bought this because I’m having to work from home for a few months and my wireless keyboard wasn’t reliable enough for heavy every-day use. This might have been overkill since I’m not a big PC gamer, but I absolutely love this thing.

    First, what I really like:
-It’s a joy to type on. It just feels right. I’m a fast typer and this keyboard is not holding me back at all.
-I love the colors and different options. You can set 3 different presets and then switch between them by pressing FN and F1, F2 or F3. My favorite effect is the fireworks setting, but the “breathe” and “wave” settings are fun too. You can easily turn the brightness down all the way (so it’s not lit up at all) at night or the Fireworks setting only lights up when you’re using it. Given that this is in my bedroom, that was a must.
-It feels incredibly well made. It’s definitely got some weight to it and is not made out of cheap plastic. I expect this to last a long time.
-Full size keyboard including 10-key, but is still fairly compact. Important for me as I have a very limited amount of desk space available.

    Downsides:
-The software Ngenuity software used to customize it is clearly still being worked on. I was able to get everything to work properly, but it’s not the most intuitive experience.
-It’s pretty loud. It doesn’t bother me, but you’re not going to be the guy in the Zoom meeting typing on this without everyone on the meeting noticing. Unless you mute yourself, of course. 🙂

This is my 2nd HyperX product that i’ve bought in the last year (the other being a headset) and they seem to be making consistently high quality products. I highly recommend this keyboard.
