Fun game. Well made. Does need time to put up and take down. I thought it would have a clever way of folding back into the box, but it doesnt. You have to dismantle it and put it in the box in a specific order.

I bought this to relive some childhood memories and get my kids off their screens! The game was as good as I remember. It’s random actions from the ghost dropping the ball really makes it fun. And the replay value is there aswell. Being able to play with 4 is also great fun, if a little crowded at times.

So if it’s great why not 4 stars? Well the game from the 80s had a box and separate board. But this version the box IS the board you play on. This means if you damage the box, the game itself is also potentially damaged too. Also the main structure originally was made more from plastic, whereas this is more card. Again easier to damage when putting it together. In fact we already have an errant bend in one section of the “castle” and while it hasn’t stopped play, it does cause the axe trap to fall when it’s not set off as part of the game.

So I can’t give five stars for the build quality but please don’t let that put you off buying as with care it should last well and it’s a fun game to play.

Bought this game as my husband used to have it as a child. Excellent game and very fun to play. Interactive and engaging but simple enough for all ages.

Great fun for the kids, not challenging so good for all ages. I feel they could make an even larger version with more traps etc – i’d def buy it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersue to the original I remember playing as kids – only now with my own kids. Very good fun all in all.

There’s no game board like there used to be – the box forms the board now, which is novel I guess and cuts down on waste.

This does mean though, that if one of your kids leaves the box on the floor, and then one of the half cut adults steps on said box – it knackers quite a lot of the game. Instructions for packaging the game back up also help a lot IMO.

The game takes a bit of setting up and is not convincingly robust – it’s durability long term is slightly concerning. But actually playing the game is fun, family inclusive for all ages, and doesn’t take too late big!! Enjoyed by small children through to grandparents alike!

We’ve been playing this game for many years & it has gone through 3 generations. We had to buy a further one as our old one was falling apart. Loved by the whole family, 10 years old to 76.

Spent a lot of time in the 80/90s playing the original and this is just as good.
Well made and great use of the box as the playing board. Absolute bargain for 17 just after Xmas.

I had this game as a child and loved it so couldn’t resist buying it for me five year old. We have had this game for a month and my daughter plays this game daily, giggling when the ghost scares out tokens.
I would recommend this game as it is easy to set up and fun to play

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis game is quite fiddly to set up and takes a good 10 minutes but once all set up its a great family game. Takes quite a while to play and some bits a little frustrating but once you’ve got through the first section it’s fun to get around.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this for my nephews birthday and he loves it, great fun to play only thing the while set up is cardboard so I think it could become tired and worn quite quickly if you pack it away in the box each time you play

I’d been looking for this game for so long! I remember playing this when it originally came out in the 80’s and oh how long I warred with myself over buying it second hand but couldn’t justify the price tag for an original one. I cannot express how happy and excited I was when it actually popped up on Amazon and they’ve remade it! My girls (4yo and 6yo) love playing this! Yes it takes a little effort to set up and pack away but this is a game like no other with all the little details and traps and hidden walls. It’s just as I remember it. Brilliant!

Grandkids loved playing with this at Christmas! We had great fun activating the ghost and knocking people over with the ball and as it is completely by chance it is easy for little people to play too.
I played with kids aged 6 and 7.

My 6 year old loves this game, great fun for the whole family. Docking a star as it does take a while to set up and put away, which results in it not being the first board game that we’d reach for. You’d need a bit more time than usual for playing this to allow for the setting up, playing, and then putting away afterwards. Other than that, it’s great quality and lots of fun.

I bought this for my kids as I remember loving this game as a child and although the back story to the game is a little different since my day the idea is the same and still a good fun game without being too complex so suitable for younger kids too (as long as an adult can help them set it up – older kids would be ok to do this by themselves).

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersA good update to the original version – this time you have to get your team of two ghost-hunters out of the castle avoiding all the classic traps from before. I played this as a kid and now playing it with my kid, he’s enjoying it just as much – a good game for Halloween.
Part of the update is the use of the box, it’s part of the board now and provides ‘walls’ to the edge of the castle, stopping the ball and dice rolling away. The inner core of the castle is simple to construct, well cut and fitting card construction with a few plastic parts. For fans of the original, the glowing skull has been replaced by a stainless steel ball, meaning it will have a more random chance of heading into any of the four traps present, unlike the skull which seemed to fall in the direction the jaw faced! The large ghost on the top of the tower does glow in the dark, much to the amusement of my kid!

A fun game and can get quite tense as you finally get to the last room!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI really enjoyed playing the older version of this when I was younger, so I was very excited to see this new game out in the shops.
Takes a little bit of time to set up, but it’s not difficult and the instructions are easy to follow. It definitely feels robust enough for general family play, and seems better quality than the one I remember from years ago.
The stair section at the beginning of the game was frustrating as the pieces kept getting knocked off if someone moved against the board, but other than that we really enjoyed it. We also like to play a shorter version whereby you just need to get 1 of your characters to safety. Overall I’m really impressed with this updated version and I’ve had great fun playing it with my 9 and 6 year old.
