Go For Broke is a game that I can remember playing when I was younger and to be fair it’s not changed that much.

My children didn’t really understand the game as usually the winner is the one with the most but in this game it’s the one with nothing.

The quality seemed a little bit on the poor side especially the plastic pieces, they just didn’t want to stand up on the board.

Very easy, fun game and totally different to what you would expect in winning a game.

This game was a lot of fun and I love the updates from when I played back in the 1990s with some additional ways to lose money, new races with cars rather than the horses spinning wheel, an auction..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI remember this from my childhood, although some of the sections are different it has the same fun principal of being the first person to lose all their money wins (strangely good at this in real life but a bit trickier in the game). Only fault is that the plastic elements used on the board feel quite cheap and don’t stay in place very well if you have to spin them. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.

Purchased this game for my 11 year old granddaughter. She loves it and we played it a lot over the Christmas holiday. Learning money skills as we played. Would recommend the game lots if fun.

Our family love to play board games and when we saw this advertised we had to try it. We all really enjoyed the game play, which was, easy enough for our 8 year old to pick up. The only small let down is the plastic playing pieces. These are really small and flimsy. If these were better I would give a 5 star review.

We always had this game out when I was a youngster and I loved it then!
I love it now! I suck at monopoly, but losing all your money is the aim in this game! Much easier for me haha!
It’s been updated but still the same game with the same great ideas.
    Wonderful game!

A nice trip down memory lane and update to an MB games classic.

As an update it’s not exactly the same.

My only complaint is the auction house spinner doesn’t want to stay in place and nor does the stock exchange spinner. But as long as you are careful it’s fine and work.

Unlike the old days the box does not have nice compartments to pack it all away but that was easily solved with little sandwich bags to keep the bits together inside the box.

I remember the original first version of this game back in the 80s and 90s however I never got a plate but I do recall watching my brother and sister play. After a quick read of the instructions it is relatively straightforward to play after you’ve selected your piece. In terms of age I say this is probably best she said to players around 10 and over.

Sometimes keeping track of the money can be a bit of a pain so it is probably handy to have a calculator to assist in keeping track but it does teacher number of skills even though the object of the game is to lose all your money rather than to gain.

Listening to everything is digital it’s quite nice to see a traditional game that can still entertain.

We always love playing board games as a part of our family reunion. These is very ideal and very fun for family and friends. The game is consist of slot machines, spend in the auction and race around the board. It is so much fun blowing your million in these game, the only problem is the money is too thin so it has been damaged easily. The instruction is easy to follow, but price is a little bit too much.

When it comes to board games (ie: monopoly), the goal is always to be the richest, but I love how this board game is the complete opposite, making a fun and unique playing experience. Who knew loosing $1 Million would be so fun!?

I do feel that this board game could be a little improved. The cash for instance is made from a thin sheet paper which over time will get damaged and pretty quickly. It would be fun to see a card and pin system instead though I am sure this will come with a steeper price tag. Perhaps this will be a feature in the third edition of Go For Broke? 😉

With that being said, there is never a dull moment when playing. Plenty of interactive game component to keep the kids engaged too.

Every twist and turn on the board game is interesting and exciting. There were moments when my family and I were sooo close to losing it all and boom, suddenly we made a lot of money. It feels so odd to be upset about winning thousands lol.

With that being said, Go For Broke is a board game everyone should have. Very fun and easy to play. 5 stars!

Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂

This is a fun family game where the object is to lose all your money. It’s simple to learn and a lot of fun to play.

Every space on the board has you either winning or losing money and there’s extra ways to lose your money thanks to the casino, auction house race track and shares.

All the pieces are well made (although some are small) and the money and share cards are all good quality as well.

Think this game will take a hammering at Christmas, it’s good fun.

We are a family who love boardgames and I had never played this game as a child, so I was happy to accept the offer from Amazon to review it.

The quality of the contents is average with cards and plastic bits and pieces making up the bulk of the game makeup. Losing money and having fun doing it was alien to me, but we all had fun (adult and kids from 6 to 10) playing it. It’s an easy to learn game and after a quick test run, you’ll be a pro. A good classic game to have in any collection.

I remember this board game from my youth. We were big players if board games and amassed a good collection.
This one has been one that we’ve played a fair number of times back then.

The game is exactly the same – you make your way around the board, the object is to be the first to lose a million. There are a number of ways to do this, charity, slot machine, stocks, etc.

The pu8ces are nice. But my issue is that the quality of the finish on this new version feels unlike the original…and not in a good way. I wish they had mad a more luxurious version for Christmas – though that that does go against the very nature of the game!

Like board games? How about ones like Monopoly and Game of Life?

This is Ideal Games Go For Broke Board Game, for 2 to 4 players, ages 8+.

Fancy a game where the object is to lose a million? Gamble it away on slots, at auctions, on the stock exchange…
Basically it’s a go round the board game, each player has a piece limo, bullion, plane or gem, roll double six and you gain 100k, you can also buy hotels on squares which is bad as when players land there they pay you. Also there is a silver box where players pool their cash, if you land on lottery square, you win that pool of cash aggggh! Stocks n shares go up n down too, you want that to go down ha. So this is against everything you normally play for! Love the racing, auction, stock ‘n slots, as losing is winning ha.
Just when you think you are losing, you are winning, gutting. Love it!

Overall I thoroughly recommend this game, its frustrating but so much fun and so easy to play. Love it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the 2nd edition of Go for broke, the original Go for broke was from MB games. The aim of the game is to be the 1st player to lose $1M. I actually own the 1st edition. The 2nd edition has different ways to lose money.

The differences between 1st and 2nd editions are: 1st had roulette, slot machine, horse race, and the stock market, whereas 2nd edition has Racecar, slot machine with dice, stock market, and the auction house; instead of champagne bottles as player pieces, 2nd edition uses random pieces made popular by the doppelganger game monopoly; This is revamped version of a classic.

The revamp version uses dice instead of ball-bearing The setup is minimal just need to count money out. Would be good if they followed technology and uses moneyless technology; not a big problem I sometimes use a calculator to keep track of my money; I recommend this game.

    Pros
    – Revamp of a classic
    – Updated games mechanisms, such as the use of dice as a slot machine
    – Great family game

    Cons
    – Money gets crumpled and destroyed from time to time
    – Would be nice to have money less game; but that would put up the price

I think this was and still is an amazing game, specially for us who aren’t wealthy in real life. The cool thing about the game is that when you lose it doesn’t feel so bad since, who doesn’t want to feel Like ” I won the lottery and got tons of money ” for once. It’s like an escape to a world where you just can’t seem to get poor. It takes me back to my childhood, now my kids can enjoy playing it, too. Also a perfect Xmas family game!

I used to love playing this game when I was a kid in the 80s and I am glad you can get it again. I really enjoyed playing this game with the family and even younger kids can play with a bit of help from the grown ups. I always lose at board games and thats very useful with this game as you have to go broke and lose to win! You can get rid of money at the Racetrack, the Casino, play the Stock Market or make donations to charity. The concept of the game is the same as the old one from the 80’s but the quality is a bit cheaper. I remember playing and rolling snake eyes, it brought it all back. A great game for Christmas and one you never get bored of and is up there as iconic games such as monopoly.

I know Go for Broke has been around for a long time but I’m not sure I’ve every played it. I am glad that I have played it now though, as it is a really easy to play and really great fun. The game is good quality, and really easy to setup. The rules are really straightforward as you just follow the instructions on the board square that you land on. It is more fun that a lot of games as it is quick to play and really random, no skill or strategy is required. Great family board game. 24 is a competitive price for a board game.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLove this game easy to set up and then looks fantastic.
I don’t like the player models for me a little small same for the racing cars. But absolutely love the graphics and animations you build and place in the board.
First glance at the board and it looks overwhelming lots of information and no start and finish.
Happy with the instruction simple and reasonable easy to read and understand love that the idea is to lose all your money so much fun. I have had do much fun trying to lose but you always end up being lucky at some time .
Price point is heavy 24 but it’s a game that last and suited for an older child or adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun looks fantastic

It’s a classic game that I remember playing as a child and it brought back nice memories – similar to the old movie Brewster’s Millions – The goal is to lose a million dollars to win the game. Unboxing was quick and easy, just applying stickers to the plastic components (stocks and shares spinner, race track spinner & a slot machine that dispenses dice). Set-up was simple – each player gets a million dollars and 2 x share tokens. The game itself is also simple – roll the dice, move around the board and perform the actions written on the spaces which will either win or lose you money. There’s almost no strategy involved, which might put some people off, but this makes it great for families as there are no complex rules to learn and the game can be played in under an hour (we took 40 minutes but there were only 2 of us playing). So all-in-all a simple game to set up, learn and play.

4.0 out of 5 stars A classic game!
