Practice makes perfect

Othello is the game that takes a minute to learn, but a lifetime to master!

Trap your opponents discs…

… to flip them to your own colour.

Black places their disc at “X”, trapping the white discs between the black end pieces. These discs are ‘captured’ and flipped over to become black.

Anchor points

White places their piece at “X” and has two “anchor” points and can capture both the vertical and diagonal lines.

Bought it for a seven and five year old. They absolutely loved it. They learned very quickly and that was all they wish to play with.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGreat fun game to play, that is easy to learn and won’t take hours to play!
The only grumble i have is the packaging. When i was younger it included a plastic slide over cover for the black and white playing discs. Sadly – i suspect to save on costs not passed onto the consumer – this is now missing, so the pieces can fall out of place if the box is tilted. Shame that everything feels cheaper and tackier in the name of profits. So knocked a star off for this.

I bought this mainly for nostalgic reasons, I remember playing as a kid back in the 80s but I’d forgotten quite how much fun it was to play, a classic of its kind, hence it’s still selling well today, easier to learn than chess or Tak, which are others of the same family, but no less fun to play.

I bought this is a gift for my nephew. It’s super quick and easy to learn the rules.

Great for kids, but it’s fun for adults to play too.

This is a great strategic game. It is easy to learn but has so many levels of expertise, it will keep your figuring it out for ages.
Great for two players, similar in some ways to chess, but also entirely different.

Loved this as a kid, bought for a xmas pressie for partner so haven’t used yet but the game is easy to learn and great fun, perfect for us in the evening to play together. Cant speak on quality as of yet as haven’t opened it.

My children always beat me at this game.

But now I’ve worked it out, it’s whoever who can own the outer edges fastest that tends to win the game.

Now they are losing I miss the box that had the hands with Arabic jewellery on it though. That made the game seem exotic, even though it’s essentially counters you flip.

Next on our list is chess.

One of the best board games. Great for all ages.
Easy to learn and addictive. The more you play the more strategic you become.
Simple but so clever.the game that is!

A game I used to play back in the early seventies and thought it would be ideal for my Grandkids, easy to learn and play but great fun, they love it.

This game literally does take seconds to learn and is suitable for all ages. Once we started playing we were all completely hooked.
It is such a simple concept yet get your brain working. Why oh why did I not buy this sooner. I have just ordered the travel version to so that we will never be without this lol xx
If there was one point that I could make is that I wish there was a couple of spare pieces just in case

This has helped get the kids off of screens and involved. Personally loved playing this as a kid with my family. So nice to revisit. Game itself is nicely produced high quality plastic playing pieces and felted board.
    Arrived quickly.

    Wonderful two player game.
Probably the easiest game you could possibly learn. So simple and very exciting.
My daughter was beating me the whole way through, until very near the end, I got the upper hand and won at the second last turn.
Othello can be very tactical if you look closely at how to play it. Me, I just wing it.

Never played this before but it is quite absorbing. 1 min to learn but quite tactical. We like backgammon and we were looking for another lockdown game that was easy to pick up and play and this one fits the bill. We are adults so it is not just a kids game

Like many other reviews this a game I played at school and loved introduced to the family and they are loving it also.
As others have said it’s a shame the plastic covers that held in disks in place when in transit no longer there, also a few extra disks surely wouldn’t break the bank. But overall very happy.

This game offered plenty of fun times during my childhood and I was happy again to obtain a new one to play with family and friends. Simple but addictive, all you need to play is a good mood. Nice product quality, in a simple standard box, no other unnecessary bells, and whistles. If you want the basic classic Othello game to make it as a present or for yourself, this is the version to get.

This is another game I have purchased to send to New Zealand for Christmas but I played it many years ago and remember it being very good. It has been sent for the adults as I cant remember how easy /difficult it would be re children but it is a game to grow into. Sorry I cant be more help.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’m really enjoying this game! I had many board games but none that were playable with just two!
At first glance it seemed almost too simple, as if it were just going to be chaos and luck and not feel like a real game, however before we knew it, we were playing intense games of strategy and skill! It’s super addictive and I love that even if all seems lost in the beginning of a game, there’s always a chance you can make your way back for the win!

I had been looking for this game for quite some time but the price was way above what I was prepared to pay. Then I found this supplier. At first I though that maybe it was of a less sturdy quality but I was wrong. It is an original and of excellent quality, just at a much better price than anywhere else. It is a fantastic game and really can be learnt by children as young as 4 or 5, yet enjoyed thoroughly by adults of all ages. Highly recommend. It was delivered within a couple of days of placing the order and in perfect condition.

Love this games, have it at home and also bought a set it for my Grandson but secondhand/pre loved as I wanted a plastic cover over the counter bar to stop the counters falling about. This one I bought new for a Grandaughter, and it is a good set, the pieces fit into indented slots on the board, but counters fall about when box is carried around. It’s such a shame the manufacturers don’t put covers on the new sets. Aside from that, pleased with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI played this maybe 30 years ago as a kid and was keen to teach my son the game. We both love it, it’s a very easy game to learn but requires a bit of skill in protecting the corners and sides.
Dropped 1 star because unlike the original i played all those years ago, this set does not have a rotating cover to secure all the discs during storage. As such, when you tilt the box on its side, all discs will scatter everywhere in the box. No big deal really but would of made it perfect.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI got this for my partner for Christmas and she loves it. I used to play Othello as a child and loved it and thought it was one to add to our growing games collection.

Othello is a brilliant strategy game and as it says, it takes a minute to learn and a life time to master. You essentially outflank your opposing colour with your counters. The game is really strategic and you can change the whole board with a few well placed counters. Children and adults can play and you can pick it up and become rather good in a few games. There is also a good handicapping system to, like giving corners away from the beginning which are very strategic squares.

It has quickly become a favourite and have played twice this week already 🙂

If you love draughts, chess etc then Othello will become a firm favourite.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBought for my 11 year old son who likes to beat me at draughts and wanted to beat me at something else. Really quick game so we can fit in a couple of games each day around everything else that needs doing. No lengthy set up and very easy to play – no having to recheck rules. I would recommend this to anything who really doesn’t want to spend a lot of time playing a game but still wants to play a game! Only two player which discounts the rest of the family so we have a league table. Not so easy to beat me as he thinks either. Quick, easy and fun.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSimple concept capture the opposition by surrounding them at each end but in reality a very deep strategy game that will take years to master but it really does only take minutes to learn . Bought this for My 7 year old boy for Xmas, we sat down and by the end of the second game he did not need to ask what he needed to do. within a couple of weeks he was able to start making me work a little harder to win by making me think a few moves in advance. a great game for training the brain get it you wont be sorry (very similar concept to “GO” )
