This is a fantastic starter cube, good for kids wanting to learn, and adults! It took me a solid two hours of watching videos to learn how to solve the Rubik’s Cube, but I got there and then taught my son. It’s lightweight and quite easy to manoeuvre. If you get faster and faster however, the cube can get more challenging to use as it’s not as smooth as the others. That’s why I’d say it’s ideal for starters and intermediates. I’d recommend this product.
Still a good old favourite. Like most things not as well made as they used to be. I have thrown out cubes that were as loose as this one is straight out of the box. At speed they can fly apart if they are loose.
Time to free from packaging 5 mins..time to mix up and solve 3 mins lol. Great toy…Good to have one in the house again.
Bought for hubby. He has been trying for days now to get it back to the original, keeps going on you tube to find the way to do it. Not sure how long it will keep him quiet for……..
Bought this as my first foray into cube solving! Great cube and solves really well! Set myself a target of getting below 5 minutes which I’m well below. If you’re buying this to get into cubing or as a fidget toy, it’ll be fine. That said, I’ve upgraded to the magnetic version which is smoother, more precise and solves quicker than this version but, you would be paying extra.
I ordered this cube to replace my 1980s style original and was disappointed to find this a redesign, so I wrote a negative review. However, after some research it appears that the cube was redesigned to be more like the more-expensive speed cubes with a slick movement. Now, I am used to the stiff original so this redesign was an annoyance, and I think it could be better publicised. However after some practice, I was able to adapt my playing style and quite liked the new design. It is easier to turn and it tends to realign itself if the cubes are not perfectly aligned, but I still found it wobbly and loose and I wasted time in constantly lining the joints up. Basically it is trying to be like the more expensive speed cubes but at the fraction of the price. So great for a beginner or as a toy. I returned it and ordered the GAN cube at five times the price. I can’t wait to see how it compares.
I recently purchased the Rubik’s Cube, and it’s truly a classic and timeless puzzle that continues to captivate enthusiasts of all ages. Here’s my detailed review with the pros and cons:
**Pros:**
1. **Enduring Appeal:** The Rubik’s Cube has maintained its status as the world’s best-selling puzzle since its introduction in 1980. Its enduring appeal speaks volumes about its universal fascination and entertainment value.
2. **Addictive Challenge:** The multi-dimensional challenge posed by the cube is incredibly addictive. With over 43 quintillion possible moves, it provides a diverse and engaging experience for users, making it an excellent choice for individuals who enjoy brainteaser puzzles.
3. **Quality Construction:** The classic stickers have been replaced with durable plastic tiles, eliminating concerns about fading or peeling. This upgrade enhances the longevity of the cube and ensures a consistent and visually pleasing appearance.
4. **Improved Mechanism:** The Rubik’s Cube now features a new mechanism that results in a smoother, faster, and more reliable solving experience. This enhancement adds a modern touch to the traditional puzzle, making it enjoyable for both beginners and seasoned solvers.
5. **Educational Value:** Beyond its entertainment aspect, the Rubik’s Cube serves as an educational tool. It challenges users to enhance their problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, and strategic thinking. It’s an excellent option for cognitive development, especially for individuals aged 8 and above.
**Cons:**
1. **Learning Curve:** For beginners, there is a learning curve to mastering the cube’s solving techniques. While this adds to the challenge, some users may find it initially frustrating.
2. **Limited Age Range:** Although suitable for ages 8 and above, the Rubik’s Cube may be too complex for younger children. Younger users might require additional guidance and patience to fully enjoy and understand the puzzle.
3. **Solo Activity:** While solving the Rubik’s Cube can be a rewarding solo activity, some users may prefer puzzles that allow for collaborative or competitive play. The solitary nature of cube-solving might not appeal to everyone.
4. **May Not Appeal to Everyone:** The Rubik’s Cube, with its specific style of challenge, may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Some individuals may prefer puzzles with different themes or gameplay dynamics.
In conclusion, the Rubik’s Cube remains an iconic and unparalleled puzzle, offering a unique blend of challenge, entertainment, and educational value. Its timeless appeal and recent improvements in construction make it a worthy addition to any puzzle collection. Whether you’re a seasoned solver or a beginner looking for a rewarding challenge, the Rubik’s Cube is a classic choice that continues to stand the test of time.
Yip , mr rubix, annoying and amazing. Love this puzzle. It’s timeless and annoyingly still the same frustrations. Definitely a toy for us older people that temper the 80s school yards.
Used quite a lot and it sits on my desk so I fiddle a lot with it and can say so far no hint of falling apart, people maybe re too rough. Great to get back into trying to solve it.
Not much to say here, other than a piece of something is trapped inside a cube that makes the whole thing rattle when you shake it. I expected more from a brand-name cube!
This feels a little flimsy but is a great one for first timers. I bought it for my 6 year old son, I think I’ve spent more time playing with it than him.
The original and best Rubik’s Cube, accept no others. Apart from that it is a Rubik’s Cube, it does what a Rubik’s Cube does, you rotate the sides to move the blocks, so that the colours match and you solve the cube.
Bought for my 7 year old, we are both terrible at it, but it’s annoyingly too fun to put down.
Excellent value for money and one of the best toys ever invented.
Well I’ve never had the chance of doing this cube puzzle, but I saw the cube I felt it could not beat me, but it has done, it’s even better if the instructions are in English, because the only minor problem I have are the cubes are not as tight as one would think, it’s a great game but the cubes are not easy to keep in place, it has a mind of its own, I have to really get a grip of it, then I can do it,but I’m really enjoying it. I feel the cube would stand some throwing around as children tend to do, it seems to be stronger than it looks. The cost of it, well as others, is going up, but at this time the price is reasonable.
Don’t be fooled by the iconic brand, as always, the quality of Rubix cubes is disappointingly poor. It constantly grinds and you have to set the rows perfectly to rotate. If you’ve ever owned a Rubix brand cube before, you know exactly what to expect.
Naturally one won’t be breaking any speed cube records with this little thing. But if you’re slow like me, it’s not really an issue.
If you want something to fidget with, or pass the time while on work calls, the this is a ok purchase.
When my kids were younger( 20 years ago) they all had a Rubin cube and they loved them. Yes they were frustrated by it on occasions but with practice they could do them quite quickly. If you’ve never had a Rubin cube they work quite simply. The cube rotates at every level meaning you can mix up the colours and then try and get the colours back to blocks again. This original Rubin cube rotates easily and is a good size in your hand. When my kids were younger I used to only mix them a bit so they stood a chance of fixing it quickly then as they got better I mixed them on every level. It’s a great time filler and as our original cubes had long since gone I sent them all a new one to entertain them during lockdown. They were all thrilled. I would say these are suitable from age seven upwards to adults. A great little puzzle that’s stood the test of time.
