Bought as a cheap temporary home for my fish whilst cleaning out the pond, as stated in the instructions it must be on level ground and is quite stable if adhered to. Now folded up and ready for next time.
Great little paddling pool, good value for money only on first filling of water we discovered a puncture.
It appears to be a snag type hole one can only assume caused either being prepared for transit or during.
Disappointing.
I’m having a blast with my Intex 6ft x 20in Easy Set Swimming Pool! It’s exactly as advertised – super easy to set up and a perfect size. The blue color is a cool touch too. It’s been a hit for family fun time during these hot days. Great buy for the price. Two thumbs up!
Very easy to set up. It’s a clever design. Worth noting that it is quite deep and so a bit of a reach to step in and out if you are buying it for small people. Unfortunately it has been too cold and wet to make much use of it since the precise day I installed it so I may have to puncture it as a sacrifice to appease the weather gods
*This review is for the 8ft Intex Easyset Pool*
After reading so many reviews which mentioned leaks and trouble with refunds I was dubious about ordering an Intex pool however I went with my gut seeing how many had been sold and with the thinking that most people don’t review unless it’s negative and I’m so glad I bought one!!
It was super easy to inflate by mouth and it took 1.45hrs to fill.
I placed it onto a ground sheet and gym mats which were cheap enough from the Factory Shop – it required 4 packs of mats for reference.
It’s been up over a week now and I’ve had to reinflate the ring a small amount and top up the water a small amount from use.
I bought the pool cover too which does a fabulous job warming the water and, because I didn’t want to refill the pool in the summer I purchased the 33 Intex pool pump and chemical kit which are also working fabulously.
Don’t be put off by negative reviews!!
Previously I had a small pool with headrests and seats, it popped, so divided to give this one a try. Was worried as said ground needs to be level, mine is sloped by a few degrees and my slabs are all uneaten, but was fine, i used my old pool as a base underneath.
It was easy to use your mouth to inflate the ring, took 1 minute at most.
It feels deep and feels like a proper pool, I also can lay my head on the sides or sit back against it no problem! It’s just wide enough for me at 5ft 9″ to fully float in.
It’s got 2 outlets for a filter pump and another bung to empty the water. I’ve got a pump coming next week.
The material feels thicker than my last pool.
I am so impressed and wished I got this first time.
I ordered the 6ft model so that it would warm faster and take less water, energy and time to keep it clean. Also takes up less space in the garden.
Easy to inflate as only the very top rim is inflated. The rest is simply held by the volume of water in it. As the installation said, put a couple of centimetres of water in first, flatten it the floor of the pool lining, then continue to fill. Ours is not 100% full due to smallest child but easily grow into. Older ones still had enough depth too. Great for all ages.
I wasn’t sure about this as I previously had a large frame pool which was excellent, however I no longer have the space so I thought I’d try this as it was so cheap. I didn’t expect much given it cost me 22 but it’s really good value. I put it on a flagstone patio and bought a couple of large tarpaulins to go underneath ( thicker than the cloth) and used a foot pump to blow the ring up. You need to have one person pumping in the air whilst the other keeps the shape of the ring and smooths out any bends. Once this is done, smooth out the bottom and fill it up. Took about 2 hours to fill. After the first couple of inches re smooth the bottom best you can. I don’t have a pump it’s not required. Use a skim net and chlorine. Never had a problem yet including with a bigger pool last year. As you can see, bought the lid too. It’s a bit shallower than I would like but hey it’s cheap and sturdy and no messing about with poles. Comes with latches in case of leaks and stoppers for the pump holes which I have used. To empty you out in the hose attachment and empty with your hose pipe.
Great size, had almost bought the 8′ pool from Morrisons for 30 quid but the realised it held over 2 tons of water (2000 litres) so opted for this smaller one and I’m glad I did. Be aware it still takes up to 800 litres to fill which takes a while and will cost if your on a water meter. Bought a cover separately and it helps keep some of the heat in over night slightly. The grass is still recovering from when we left it in the same place for too long but overall it’s a great pool great size. Hope it’s still ok to use next summer and doesn’t degrade while it’s being stored in the shed.
We got tired of having to replace the children’s garden pool every few years because of both punctures and unattractive discolouration of the plastic. Garden pools are particularly expensive during the summer months while they don’t last very long – at least not when exposed to our over-active children. Yet with our south-facing inner city patio it can get really hot in summer, so the children do need some water play facility.
These Intex pools seemed of much stronger, durable design. Also, in case they prove to be as sturdy as expected the Intex pools offer add-on options and accessories like a cover and perhaps a filter at a later stage. Moreover the reviews were good. I was tempted to order the larger and higher 8-feet pool, but as we have limited outside space it seemed wiser to stick to the smaller 6-feet variant.
The pool came neatly presented in a a 60 x 40 x 12 cm box, this is important as it implies there pool doesn’t require too much storage space (also given that only the top ring is inflatable, this pool is easy to deflate and subsequently easy to fold in a compact manner). Included are 3 filter-hole plugs (1 spare) that you’ll have to put in place if you lack this accessory. There is also a filter connection part that remains unused in my case for now. You’ll have to make sure you place the pool on a level area and on a floor cover. We already had a collection of inter lockable rubber play/gym mats on which we placed the pool to have a soft seating and to protect the bottom. Then you’ll have to inflate the top ring, for this a non-electrical pump is advised. In order to spare me the effort of finding our pump, I just inflated it by mouth, which took less than 2 minutes and a few deep breaths. During the early stages of filling with water you’ll then have to make sure to straighten out the bottom mat of the pool. All in all, the set up is less burdensome than a full inflatable children’s pool. However, filling the pool with water took about 40 minutes and a lot of water – be aware that these Intex pools require a substantial quantity of water as they are 2x to 3x as deep as the average inflatable garden pool for young children. So there is a cost to that, and in times of severe drought you may be reprimanded by you neighbours for putting such pool in place.
Nevertheless the outcome was very satisfying. It’s is really nice and even a luxury (also for grown ups) to have a reasonably deep pool outside during hot weather. It’s very refreshing for dad to cool down and enjoy a beer in the sun. And the children have a lot of fun with it every day when the weather allows.
Most importantly the material of this Intex pool is of high quality, it is made of thick layers plastic that can endure some wild children’s water play. Even the inflatable top ring seems much more durable than a traditional children’s pool.
The only drawback is that is lacks standing sides and a supportive top ring. So you can’t really relax and hang on the sides as you will push it down and the water will flow out. Similarly, when our youngest, 6-year old enters the pool he will lean on the top ring for support, but this will cause water to flow out.
We have already bought a cover that will keep the water clean and that helps to heat it up a little, I keep this in lace with ratchet straps. I’ve also ordered a somewhat treacherous but affordable pool heater, we’ll see how that works out. The next step would be an investment in an Intex filter. In the mean time I’m looking into adding a well-measured amount of chemicals to the water to keep it clean for more than two days – we live in a hard-ware area and after a couple of days of intensive play the water gets milky and unclear.
But overall, very, very pleased with this pool. Highly recommended.
This review is for the 6ft x 20inch.
I bought this as a replacement for our family holiday to Spain. (Thanks Covid-19) If you’re drunk enough, and the sun is hot enough, it can be convincing.
I blew the ring up with my very own set of lungs because I couldn’t be bothered to search the garage looking for a bike pump that would probably turn out to be bitterly disappointing anyway. It was easy to do by mouth. Then I set it up all by myself at 6am and it was a cinch. It filled in less than 2 hours. No rips, holes or pops.
I chuck in some baby bottle sterilising tablets at night and then cover it with tarp.
The kids love it but they scream and splash constantly which is my idea of hell when I’m trying to drink wine in my deck chair.
As pools go, this one is nothing short of fantastic. Get one.
I bought this Intex Easy Set Swimming Pool for my two children at the beginning of Summer and they have had so much fun splashing around in it when we have set it up for them. The pool has easily fit both of my children and also my Husband inside it with room still spare for another adult and maybe two more children.
Setting up is really easy and if you are not using this on a grassed or soft area then I would advise to put some sort of padding between the pool and the floor to prevent any damage or punctures. The pool does seem to take a while to fill and took a good 30minutes although this could also partly be because my Husband adds warm water to the pool so that the water temperature is warm for our children getting in.
The only negative I have about the pool is that it doesn’t come with a cover which has proven a little difficult to track one down that fits and so this has meant emptying and re-filling the pool each weekend we have used it which is a definite waste of water. A really good pool and a much better size than a paddling pool as it had meant my children have been able to practice floating and paddling from side to side (with supervision of course) which they would not have been able to do in their old paddling pool. As I have said the only downside is the lack of pool cover and it would have been nice to have had the option to purchase a cover with the pool for a little bit extra.
It’s a big ‘un so before buying, think about where all that water is going to go when you pull the plug!!
You need a flat surface but I have managed to get it pretty full even on a slight slope. The way to do it is to ensure that the round base is flat in the deck with no bunching and continually check and pull out wrinkles from the floor as it fills. That way, the bottom stays smooth and the sides magically rise to quite a frightening depth. I can actually float around on my back in it.
Once the pool is up, it is really impressive and feels like a real luxury item. We’ve had a really hot spell, and it’s been magic being able to get up, have breakfast and then cool off in the pool. There are three of us and there’s bags of room. My eight year old swims around it with her goggles on.
On a slope, one side will be lower since it finds it’s own level but once you have the pool up, you feel as though you’ve transformed the garden into a holiday home!!
The ring at the top doesn’t stay up. This means that you have to continually blow it up throughout a day’s worth of use. Overnight, the water stays in spite of the ring deflating so I have had to give it more air before taking off the cover which I bought separately. The cover does help to hold the pool in shape as the top ring goes down.
Remember, it will have to be emptied though ……..
