it was going to cost over 1,000 to have a wall box installed that would only give me the same 7kw as this ! I use this for my renault Zoe, have used for over 8 months and works faultlessly. great value
It charges fast enough. Durable and waterproof. Nothing happened in the rain. The product deserves the money given. Thanks
Yusuf
Came quick easy to use of for the non tecky person it was for.
Whilst this is a relatively inexpensive cable compared to others, it really is top quality! The quality and size of the charge cable really are good, both sockets are also very robust.
The digital display is clear and concise and remembers the previous charge rate you selected. It also displays time charging, current kw and total kwh for the session.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive EV charger at home, definitely consider getting a CEE Commando 32A interlocked socket fitted to your property, plus this cable. Total cost including the electrician, SWA cable etc is half that of getting a charge point installed.
Ordered and delivered the next day great service thank you
When I bought this charger, there were several reviews complaining that the current setting couldn’t be changed, but they now seem to have disappeared. However, I thought it would be worth clarifying that you have to stop charging to change the setting, you can’t do it on the fly.
Fitting a ‘commando’ socket (just a standard round pin 32A socket) is relatively inexpensive, and with that it does everything I need to charge my EV. My car allows me to set the charging on/off times, so I didn’t need a charger with timer. The only caution I would give is that although the ‘commando’ socket has 6 sq mm supply cable, charging at 32A does make the cable warm.
When my wife drove over her granny charger and broke it I was reluctant to buy another one as the intention was to eventually get a 32A charger fitted. This unit allows me to charge at 10A (via a plug converter) until we get a 32A commando socket fitted on it’s own circuit. What the description doesn’t say – but is very important for my use case – is that the charger remembers the settings after being powered off, so it stays on 10A.
Update 3: Six months on and still going strong.
Update 2: Nice feature is it remembers what current setting you last used, even if it’s been unplugged for days.
Update: I’ve tested the CEE version at a range of currents and it’s worked faultlessly. Seems well made, but I’m unsure how waterproof the cable entries are. I might have a go with some amalgamating tape to make sure.
BTW, I can confirm that the selectable currents available for the CEE version are: 10A, 16A, 20A, 26A and 32A. Shame it can’t offer 6A or 8A, which others can (or perhaps it can, but there’s no instruction manual).
