Bought as replacing all the light switches in the house and works perfectly! Nearly spent 3 times the price on one of the better known ones but actually this works perfectly and seems really well made for the price.
I am really impressed with these wire strippers.
When working on a variety of maker projects and generally doing things around the house I end up working with a lot of different thicknesses of wire, and these wire strippers have handled almost everything I have throws at them. They have stripped the insulation off wire wrapping patch wires and much thicker things like speaker wires and mains cables. They have certainly been the most reliable wire strippers I have tried and because they self adjust there is minimal setup in getting to use the tool.
The only the only thing left to say is that I should have got a set of these years ago and made my life easier.
After a bit of a bad experience with C.K. Tools, whose UK customer service left a LOT to be desired (basically they told me I needed to sort it out with the reseller when it was clearly a manufacturing / quality control issue – I’m sure they are technically / legally right, but they should take more pride in their products right?) I decided to get these.
I paid 11.99 in July 2023 which seems extremely cheap, so I wasn’t expecting much. In fact, I had only just purchased (and then replaced the brand new and broken) my second pair of C.K. strippers. To be clear, I had a pair of C.K. for 15 years and was never amazed by them, but they were decent. The little depth stop broke on my old pair within the first few months, but I never felt the need to use it, so it didn’t bother me. They eventually gave up the ghost after 15 years, I bought a new pair which didn’t work properly, C.K. refused to speak to me, the shop where I bought them exchanged them for another set which are okay, then I bought these cheapo ones on Amazon just to see if I preferred them.
And I really do.
Price is only a few quid cheaper than the “original” C.K. ones, but already after having used them only a few times, I VASTLY prefer the design of this. Firstly the handle is far more comfortable owing to the rubberised grip. If I’m being honest, I always thought a rubber grip wasn’t important, in fact perhaps I’d prefer them slightly slippy. But no, the rubber grip is far nicer to use. Makes it more enjoyable and definitely more comfortable in the hand. Time will tell whether the rubber grip keeps its shape and feel.
Secondly the depth stop, which hasn’t broken yet, is a FAR better design out of the box. It has a spring, and you can kind of twiddle / control it with your right hand whilst holding them only in the right hand (i.e. one-handed) which you definitely can’t do with the C.K. Far better when you realise you left it in a position, then realise you need more depth, but you’re holding a wire in your left hand, up a ladder etc. There’s a little spring release mechanism in the depth stop, which is fun – flick it, and it gets out of the way. Nice! Also the depth stop is more chunky, and see-through. I can’t think of any functional reason for the transparent design, but it looks cool.
Finally – most importantly – the cutting jaw has a little gripper with a square shape, FAR FAR better than the design of the C.K. which just grips it in the main part of the gripper. Sorry if that doesn’t make so much sense, but the result is that you can strip e.g. Twin & CPC (or any double insulated cable) much closer to the end of the stripped sheath, which makes it far better in my book. Also this chunky square shape seems to grip far better, meaning it doesn’t slip – something my first C.K. strippers rarely did, but the newer ones I bought seem to do a bit too much.
So yeh – even though I have a brand new pair of C.K., I just instinctively go to use this cheaper pair now.
Fair warning – I have no idea if the materials will last well. If they last only for a year or so without parts falling off, then it will have been a false economy as the C.K. ones should last 10 years based on my previous experience.
But here’s hoping they will last, as I do prefer them out of the box!
These strippers do all the necessary things which I want. Wire stripping for different gauges of wire. Clean cuts etc.
ot being an electrician I only need it for occasional use but I found it very comfortable in hand and does the job very well–to me it is a great help when I need it.
I didn’t know how to use these but after a few practice runs I have the hang of it and they just work every time. Doesn’t seem to matter how wide or narrow the cable is they just grip it and pull off the sleeve. Excellent, very happy.
Used these for a new socket the other day and they were a pleasure to use.
Time will tell on sturdiness, but they feel like quality and I am happy I bought them.
I have used several different types of wire strippers over the years but I a very impressed with these
Just a bit too big to feel comfortable for bigger projects.
I was concerned about the cheap price. But they are very good up to 2.5 twin and earth
Good quality, Easy to use, Easy to hold. Just perfect!
Massive time saver if you’ve some wiring work
Don’t really know how I managed
Just had to wire up a house extension. Several Dozen connections, with multiple down lights and controls. These KAIWEETS Wire Strippers made the job so much quicker to do.
This works very well but if you need one for thicker cable you need to look for a larger one.
This has completed the jobs I bought it for far better than my old wire strippers.
Useful tool that you can use for those awkward jobs
Easy to use and comfortable to hold t is a must for your toolbox
I bought these to upgrade a identical pair bought I believe from ebay, chinese rubbish.. these have a much sturdier feel and like my others are very easy to use. Their is a brass dial on the front that needs to be adjusted for different grades of wire, turn clockwise for thin wire and anticlockwise for thicker wire. I did find using them out of the box on very thin wire they tended to break the wire rather than strip it, but with some adjustment (clock wise turning of the brass dial) it worked fine.
After using a pair of wire cutters for years, I needed a new pair.
Having looked at similar wire cutters, came across this stripper.
Although completely different to what I had been using, decided to try these out instead. Wow, so much easier to use albeit feels a bit too big to use at times.
Strips the wires cleanly.
So much quicker than the old wire strippers.
Only downside is, they are bigger than the old wire cutters, but that is easily outweighed by the ease of use and clean stripping of the wires / cables.
This is a well made and easy to use wire stripper.
It’s limitations apply to all tools of this type and size, namely it’s a bit bulky for use on short wires inside sockets etc and the maximum size round cable it can strip the outside off is 6mm diameter.
