Good size coals, easy to use, lit very well, burnt for a good length of time, we managed to smoke a beef brisket for 5 hours and cook kebabs, ribs, jacket potatoes and burgers all with a small about of coals at the bottom of our kamado grill. Good weight, size and quality , good value for money too. Highly recommend

This is a pricey product however I have used cheaper products and I quickly went back to the Kamado Joe product. It lights well, gets hot quickly and maintains its heat for hours. You can even reuse this coal if not completely burnt out.

Really nice quality charcoal for using on the Kamado, just be aware that some of the charcoal lumps might be very large, we had one piece that was approx 20cm * 15cm * 10cm

Good quality charcoal which burns long and hot. The charcoal itself is always a good size with very little dust and tailings… Maybe a little more expensive but well worth the extra. Imparts a good flavour.

Have used this brand a few times now. Has a long burn. Lumps in the bag are not a bad size. I think how it is stored and delivered make a big difference to the size of the charcoal received. Works well with my kamado joe.

Compared to the greenegg coal this is much easier to control temp wise. Personal prefernace I prefer the green egg flavour but this is very good & burns far more stable. Will most likely be my go-to now.

Well packaged to prevent it breaking up in transit, big lumps, burn hot and long, one bag lasted 6 eight hour plus cooks. Tried cheaper and none are as good as this.

The product is good, but i was not happy of what amazon prime package it.they put it in giant amazon cardboard box, pleas amazon try to reduce boxes that are waisted, it’s a charcoal, you should send it on its own bag.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFor me Kamado Joe are the best charcoals money can buy. I might be a bit biased, as my barbecue is Kamado Joe as well, but recently I did Christmas goose with tones of veg, 9 hours slow cook with half a load on my classic at 135 C, and the temperature literally never changed. At the end I opened the vents to increase temperature to 220C for half an hour to make it crispy and I still had charcoals left. Could have gone for another few hours easily.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersPROS:

    1) 90% BIG CHUNKS: GREATER THAN 10CM X 6CM X 4CM
    2) POSSIBLE TO USE CHARCOAL TWICE
    3) IMPARTS EXCELLENT FLAVOUR
    4) PAPER BAG WITH INNER PLASTIC LINER KEEPS YOUR CHARCOAL DRY
    5) LIGHTS EASILY

    CONS:

    1) PRICE

If you spend 2000+ on a Kamado grill, what’s the point of spending a few quid on supermarket charcoal. I bought a box of so called restaurant grade lumpwood charcoal. It was poor quality, burned very quickly and was mainly dust. Thus, the box that was half the price of the KJ Lumpwood Charcoal, was a false economy. So instead of being a tight @rse, I bought 2 bags of KJ for a party we had last weekend. We cooked for 8 hours, the same charcoal I put in at 1600hrs, was still going at midnight. Trust me, it’s worth splashing out on this KJ Charcoal. BUY IT, IT’S DOTTORE APPROVED!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo I’ve used SupaGrill and other cheap brands for smoking meat. Nothing, nothing compares to this. Premium brand, huge pieces… one was pretty much a branch of a tree! Lasted about 4-5 hours before needing to be “topped up.”

Sorry for the other reviewers, you must have had a dodgy batch.

The picture results from the bbq speak for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best charcoal I have ever purchased.

Brought this specifically for kamado style BBQ. Was not disappointed. Nice large that (once lit) burned for over two and half hours and gave the food an authentic bbq flavour. Will buy again.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve tried a few other grades of charcoal, and had a few problems. Some burn down really quickly (no good for long smoking a brisket). Some crackle as they burn leaving little bits of unburned charcoal on your food.

This genuine Kamado Joe charcoal burns nice and slow and clean, but still gives plenty of heat for searing steaks and making Pizza (especially if couple with a kick ash basket to improve airflow).
