My wife really enjoyed this advent calendar – it’s alot of fun with inventive little models representing different parts of each HP book.
I bought it at half-price, which made it excellent value. However I wouldn’t pay full price for it as the models are small and relatively basic.
Plenty of good little surprises in this set. A few strange looking pieces, but I guess anyone who is familiar with Harry Potter will know exactly what they are. Usual Lego quality, which is unrivalled in my opinion. Lots to do for around 20.
Took turns making this in the run up to Christmas, no one less than 30 took part, good laugh for HP fans.. can see how it would be great with kids too but is ageless fun. Would pick up again in future, I believe they change contents annually
We are big Harry Potter and Lego fans in our house and always buy the annual HP Lego advent calendar.
This one is much better than last years in our opinion with a good selection of characters and well designed items from the books / films. Those Lego designers are clever!
We have enjoyed opening it each day in the run up to Christmas.
Fabulous mini builds with so much detail. Small children may struggle to work out some of them as the build diagrams aren’t always clear especially when you have spares in the bags.
My grand daughter’s birthday is in late November and she is a huge Harry Potter fan, so I bought her this HP advent calendar.
As I said in my headline, this is a birthday gift that will keep on giving throughout December in the build up to Christmas… She is delighted with it and all the pieces are compatible with her other Harry Potter Lego. I’m not sure her mum and dad were overjoyed for her to have another gift that contains loads of pieces, but she is happy and that is all that matters!
My brother adores lego and this was such a good product for him. The package arrived in good condition and the box wasn’t damaged, it also arrived promptly so it was good to have it on time
This year’s Lego Harry Potter calendar is not the most Christmassy design ever, but it’s still generally a lovely thing, with its generous set of 7 minifigs — including Harry himself dressed in school uniform (in contrast to the mufti from last year’s calendar), Voldemort, Moaning Myrtle, and Neville Longbottom. I like that the characters are an almost completely different set from last year’s offering, and not just annual variations on Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
The calendar has a front display area that doubles up as a board game. This came as a flap folded over the calendar doors, helping to keep them from coming open until intended. Like on last year’s calendar there was quite a lot of tape holding the flap in place. I found it easier to cut through this than to peel it back, which is prone to damaging the box.
The box is cleverly designed so that you can get in to the calendar to see the pieces if you’re impatient and want to look at the mini sets before you start opening the doors in December. The end of the box is held shut with tape rather than being one of the Lego boxes that’s glued shut, so the contents can be accessed without tearing the cardboard at the ends.
The mini sets are all housed in a cardboard tray, each in its own little plastic bag (Lego really could have done this with paper, though this would have frustrated attempts to peek at the contents).
There is just one negative to this set for me. The price. A penny shy of 30 is a lot for this. Last year’s calendar was 24.99, so this is a 20% increase.
