Nice compact soundbar. Looks lovely, sounds great, the reason I gave it 4 stars is because there is no clear indication on what mode you are at the moment. Only Bluetooth is obvious “blue flashing light”
I’m impressed, sounds good with no distortion when I increase volume..
Tested it started with some Eagles, then some classical topping off with some 60s, flawless musical reproduction in all respects..
It’s plugged into an Auna CD/Internet/DAB radio, perfect match I think..
It’s nice for the price but sounds a bit fuzzy depending on the type of music and loudness. Overall good. I wish I paid more to get a slightly better one with the same company
I have to put up the volume to about 75 to get a good sound and if I knew that sooner I would have bought a sound bar with 150w. Other than that it is off good quality and price.
Thanks William
I bought this sound bar for my 89 year old Mum,. She was complaining about the sound quality on her television, and she couldn’t understand what the actors was saying. Knowing that speakers on televisions are of low quality I suggested we buy her a sound bar.
Well with this item she is well happy, loud and clear audio she can now listen to Corrie and Emmerdale easily.
The sound bar added to the new TV is brilliant. Without it the tv sounds cold and sharp it has given a warm sound that I now believe all tvs need. Easy connection by blootooth and very easy to use great to see. Jj
Bought it for our Cello Caravan Television, as the sound was rubbish.
Just the right size to stand in front of TV wether it’s stood in lounge or in the bedrooms.
Sound quality excellent.
Bonus, I can blue tooth my music from my phone to it.
What a fabulous soundbar with subwoofer for a sensible price from Majority.
Purchased this Soundbar to improve the quality of the volume of my tv in my conservatory!!
100% recommendation from me.
Very easy to set up plus it looks very neat & the quality of the sound,
especially the bass is absolutely perfect.
Love the remote control too!!
Thank you Majority.
The acoustics in my living room made it hard to hear the TV speakers clearly (especially dialogue) and this has solved the problem. Haven’t used the Bluetooth connection so can’t comment on that. (Using Optical cable.) Having a soundbar means there is another remote control to deal with, but the main thing is the sound is now clear, and much better than from the TV speakers (which I have turned off). Good value.
This “soundbar” is best thought of as a supplementary speaker that will compensate if your tv’s sound is poor, which is very common. I’ve found that it does make speech clearer – which is what I bought it for, so I’m quite happy with it – but it doesn’t do anything much for music and effects. Don’t expect it to do what a larger / more expensive product is supposed to.
Pretty happy with this product. Its easy to set up with different options.I chose the optical connection. It has presets which don’t change the sound much to be honest.Looks nice and is well designed with a good build quality. Its designed to be used out of the box and it fits my brief perfectly.
Good little soundbar that, easy to setup and takes up very little room compared to my old one.
1 star taken off because I’m surprised that it worked as the amazon delivery driver threw the package at my front door from half way down the drive and ran off to his van.
Arrived quickly. Fairly easy set-up although optical cable was a little difficult to plug in the back. Good sound but had very loud interference when switching between free-view tv and streaming services. Fixed this by setting up Bluetooth connection for streaming and lead connection for tv.
We recently bought a small 22″ TV for the kitchen, and the sound was quite poor, I was looking for a small soundbar to boost the audio and was already aware of the MAJORITY range.
I found the MAJORITY Bowfell Bluetooth Sound bar had all the features I needed for an exceptionally reasonable price, it arrived very promptly and was simple to hoook up using the optical connection (note that a cable for this type of connection is not included, although there is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm and also RCA cables supplied).
The sound is brilliant for the price, and immediately compensated for the lack of bass and definition from the tv.
I had a small operational query which I needed to ask regarding the voice announcement feature (it announces when it is connected to bluetooth), I wrote an email on a Saturday evening, and received a reply on the Sunday, which impressed me as good customer care seems a rarety these days.
I also completed my warranty online which was easy to do, just needing to add my Amazon order number etc.
Overall I can thoroughly reccomend Majority for quality, value and customer service.
I’ve had this for a couple of months now… using it for the bedroom TV. Connected via (supplied) RCA cables, as my TV does not have Bluetooth.
It’s certainly far better than the TV speakers – there is some bass, and unless you push it to its limits, no obvious distortion. Obviously though, you get what you pay for with these – and it would probably struggle to fill a large living room, and certainly is no replacement for a 5.1 system.
For me though, it does the job very well, and I returned a couple of soundbars that I bought prior to this one as they just didn’t. In this price bracket, you’ll struggle to find better IMO.
exactly what was needed to improve the sound from my 12 year old Toshiba 40 – inch TV.. A really ‘sound’ 40 investment. |Hardly be bettered for the price. Well pleased. Will be looking at more of Majority’s equipment.. My vintage TV does not have Bluetooth., so no comment.
The speakers in our TV had blown creating fuzzy hard to hear sounds but everything else was OK so we thought we’d try this wee soundbar. We knew we weren’t going to be getting big Dolby Atmos.7.1 sound, we just wanted to hear the TV clearly. On this front is works great. It’s currently connected by the headphone jack (I wonder if RCA or Optical would be an improvement). One point for me though is I highly doubt this is a true 50W – We operate it at pretty much full volume and its grand for that but I’d like to think there’d be a little left if I wanted it. For the money you can’t go too far wrong, just manage your expectations.
Amazing sound quality, good bass, and loud, all around great as a speaker. The only downsides I’ve had with it are the controller, with it being the standard remote controller type it seems to interfere with other devices I have in the same room, which isn’t really an issue just a little annoying. The bluetooth connectivity works great too I just have issues connecting it to my PC at times but that’s likely not the device’s fault. Connects to my phone and projector fine!
This my second Majority Bowfell soundbar. Sadly I had to leave my first one behind but I did buy another one.
Why?
For the price you just can’t beat it. Okay so it’s not as good as the Polk soundbar I used to have but that was five times the price.
Expect very clear sound, especially when using it with a TV. It’s just a great sound with clarity all through the range. The bass is well, not heavy man but it’s there and okay for watching TV. Watching movies with the TVs wide sound mode is immersive and very impressive for such a small device. Speech is also impressive, I’m sure this gadget is tuned for that purpose.
From my Mac Bluetooth is not great. The sound is much thinner and connectivity is patchy with it dropping out. It’s only 3.5m away and when you walk in between the Mac and the sounder it just drops out. So if you’ve got the soundbar close to your computer then it should be okay. Consider using optical or AUX anyway, a better option.
I do have a gripe. Why couldn’t they have put the 3.5mm jack input at the back? On the side you can see an AUX lead sticking out. That said, Majority do supply a 3.5mm jack lead that has a right angle jack so it’s less “sticky out”.
Bluetooth from phone is okay with the sound being better. That’s mainly because I use bass heavy EQ in Spotify. Still, it’s passable. I had no line of sight connectivity issues.
Wall mountable? Not really but there is a channel than runs across the back of the soundbar that you could be able to “hook” a couple of screw heads into. This would only be for a very competent DIYer though.
So in conclusion, buy one if you want a compact and competent soundbar with a good selection of inputs (no HDMI ARC though but why would they). It’s well built. It sounds good. It’s great value.
This speaker is not 2.1, it does not have a bass speaker and even carries a note on the top of it letting you know to switch the output of your device to 2 Channel PCM if you hear a message or buzzing from the speaker. Do not expect amazing sound from this speaker, those who have reviewed it saying that the quality is incredible obviously haven’t listened to anything other than tinny TV speakers and a 1950’s portable radio. If you are looking for an upgrade to your TV speakers then this is going to be hit and miss. If you have a little 19″ TV then this may very well be an improvement but if you are buying this for your 55″ then I would recommend that you spend a little more. For example, portable JBL or Anker Bluetooth speakers boast far superior sound to this speaker in a similar form factor. The bluetooth is also poor if you want to watch videos as the sync is noticably off, however, this will not be a problem if you are streaming music to it from your phone for example
That said, if you are looking for a small speaker which you do not need to charge or simply need some sound then this is actually a good little speaker, it’s not tinny by any means and has good clarity. I have bought it because although I usually use a headset with my PC, I am sometimes in my office and want to take my headset off. It is compact and takes up little desk space, comes with a 3 year warranty (once registered with Majority) and feels like a good quality speaker as it has a little weight to it.
To conclude, if you simply want some sound from a device in a small space then this could be for you, if you want some real punch to your sound and an improvement on the built in speakers on your TV then I’d recommend looking elsewhere. At very little extra cost The Majority Snowdon II looks to be a better budget option for your TV.
Pros:
Inexpensive
Good quality build and 3 year warranty
Small form factor
Cons:
Poor Bluetooth for playing movies/Youtube etc
Poor bass
I purchased the ‘Blowfell Plus sound system – a small sound bar and subwoofer for a very reasonable price. Another factor on buying was the headquarters of the company is in the UK and is not some large multi-national, media conglomerate.
Unfortunately, the first unit had a problem: An audio, high frequency sound came from the subwoofer, even when there was no input. It wasn’t loud and perhaps some may not notice or bother about it. I checked for ‘pick-up’ interference from any other electrical equipment and wiring nearby. I contacted ‘Majority’ via email and was very impressed with their speedy responses and suggestions. In the end, I returned it. I said I would by another, which sounds foolhardy, but to my surprise the second unit worked perfectly. I was expecting there to be an inherent fault in the electronic design or production of that particular model but, it was a ‘one off’ as no-one mentioned it in any reviews.
I wanted to use the sound system from two separate sources: my TV for Netflix and PVR for recordings. The TV because it loads Netflix much more quickly than from my PVR and also responds faster to the menus. But, the sound quality from the TV source is inferior to that of the PVR. I wanted to use a digital optical cable (fibre optic) connector, but I did not want to keep unplugging it from the TV to the PVR and vice versa, so I bought two optical connectors for under 4 each and an optical switching device (about 14). See photo. On this switching device is a manual switch but it is not needed because it automatically changes the sources to PVR or TV.
As the sound bar is directly under the TV, the orange LED which shows it is operating with the optical cables (there is also a blue LED for Bluetooth) is not distracting but to some who are fussy like me, it may be a little too bright. I cut a little square of black mesh to put over it and dim it. One more point. Perhaps the wire coming out from the subwoofer would be better coming out of the back of it rather than from its side.
For the price, it is extremely good and ideal for giving the sound more depth and quality than form the TV’s speakers. It comes with a small remote control. Some have said in reviews it is too small. Not at all, it is ideal for the number of functions, like the three choices of sound: Movie, Music and Speech. Other buttons are for pairing, altering bass/ treble and a number of other uses.
Overall, it has exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a reasonable priced sound system to improve the quality of the sound form my Smart TV – which I am pleased to say it has done and am glad I bought the second unit. The Majority website gives dimensions and what is included in the box.
