Bought these as daughter had a tongue tie so couldnt latch. BAMBIS Liverpool breastfeeding support recommended these until she got her tongue snipped and they worked great. I still use them when my nipples are raw from her feeding so much and just gives relief from direct sucking. Need to measure your nipple to get the right size

After a very painful start to feeding, these have allowed me to predominately breastfeed for almost 6 months now relatively pain free!
They are so easy to use and sterilise once got the hang of them !
Ended up trying couple diff sizes for comfort first before deciding size

What can I say , my baby is a few days old and I’ve been so upset as it’s my last baby and really wanted to breastfeed this time and could not get a latch no matter who tried to help and my baby isn’t tongue tied. I bought these and she responded straight away my milk had just come in so boobs were killing today, so happy with these !

We really struggled to latch and breastfeed so a midwife recommended we try a nipple shield. Once I started using it it was a game changer, breastfeeding is a breeze now

I can’t explain how amazing these nipple shields are, they are comfortable to wear, stay in place well and most importantly they helped my baby latch on after refusing to do so for days! I can’t explain the relief i felt when they worked. Definitely worth a try if you are struggling with sore/bleeding nipples from a bad latch or if baby won’t latch at all. We’ve managed to cut down formula to once a day since these arrived.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe were quite frustrated because our baby just would not latch. With the shields it took 3 seconds for her to latch and get herself milk drunk. Ever since we can just enjoy our time with our happy baby.

After the birth of our first baby my fianc and I were in a pretty steep learning curve!

These were recommended to use by the midwife and worked a treat. The fit was nice and quality top notch, comes in a little plastic case for carrying around too.

Best ones on the market according to the Mrs. Only the Phillips ones come close (figure of 8 shape better than circular). The small nipple size is actually fairly accomodating. The case can be used to sterilise them in the microwave so no need for a sterilise

These shields are great, easy for baby to latch on and feed and a life saver when you start getting sore in first few weeks of feeding. Very easily sterilised In there own tub, 3 minutes in the microwave. Great product.

Had my reservations using these but decided to try as one side was hurting more than it should, it wasn’t completely painless but did give a little protection, unattached on occasion and had to be held, did notice there’s a Left & Right if you look closer on them

I got a medium thinking they’d be ok for my D breast which went up to E during pregnancy. The nipple part itself is really long however – I read nipples get longer In pregnancy which is true but not that long – I’m lost in there!! I should have got a small!

Haven’t used the product yet as baby is not due for another 2 weeks but will give them a try see if he can reach nipple from the end of the long plastic!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese worked great for me, easy to use and good value for money. They were a real life saver. They attach well and stay put, the wee case is also handy. I would say I found them tricky to clean, the material they are made from just wasn’t easily washed. I would think they were clean after a go in soapy water but after they were rinsed you would see a texture or something still on the surface. Really have to be careful when cleaning and fully inspect before sterilising. I thought it would be the same as washing a bottle tear but no.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersMy wife had some big troubles when it came to breastfeeding our first daughter. she would not latch properly and was causing my wife a lot of pain. It was causing a lot of stress and anguish for her too and if you are in that position, I would recommend these. When I first suggested these she was hesitant, but we got them and the latch was instant! They were used for the first 8-12 weeks and then my wife just went on the nipple and hasn’t looked back. I know how much pressure there is for new mothers and I can’t tell you how much difference this made. Definitely worth a shot for 8

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy baby came a week early and struggled to latch so we were pumping day & night to bottle feed him. I desperately wanted to exclusively breastfeed and a lovely midwife eventually recommended trying nipple shields. I saw some other reviews of people in similar situations saying this had worked for them and thankfully it worked for us too! Baby latched instantly with the nipple shields and we have been exclusively breastfeeding ever since. Ordered 2 more pairs for out and about. If you’re struggling with breastfeeding/latch issues definitely give these a go

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOrdered a small and received a medium, so will have to be returned unfortunately.

Needed this product urgently so hubby ran out to boots to buy the small. Product itself is great and a godsend for those suffering cracked, sore nipples (mine were actually bleeding). Helps with flat nipples too in my experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend product itself.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersOur little one spent the first three days of his life trying so so hard to latch. Unfortunately, to no avail. After reluctantly giving in to a few bottle feeds to make sure he’d eaten, we found these online. The reviews sold us initially, seeing as they’re so affordable we thought, why not buy two packs? We’ll…they arived..we sterilized..and hey presto! Little man latched instantly and has been a boobie monster ever since. I’d shout from the rooftops if I could about this product, if you’re in the same position as we were, try it, for the sake of a fiver, it’s made our lives so much easier and our little boy gain weight so much easier. 10 out of bloomin 10!!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersMy daughter is only about a week old. She developed jaundice on day 3 which meant that I have no time to experiment with breastfeeding journey. We had to start topping her feed with expressed breast milk to make sure she had enough milk for each feed. After exposing her to the bottle feed, she unfortunately refused to latch onto my breast again and cried so bad when forced. Many midwives did try to help but in vain. Luckily came across this product on Amazon, ordered one and she latched onto it right away! So relieved that we don’t have to now fuss about her not taking my breast milk and also not take up the pressure of pumping every 3 hrs! Overall, I am a happy mom 🙂

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersWhere do I start I had my first baby a week ago and she was really struggling to latch she would get really hysterical, I am expressing And giving it to her in a bottle also trying to offer her the breast it would stress her out too much until I saw these and read the reviews they literally arrived mid feeding so I whacked them on and instantly she started feeding from my breast I was absolutely amazed no crying just took to it straight away. It really has given me the chance to feed my baby myself but also my husband can also feed her with the expressed milk in a bottle if anybody is struggling with breastfeeding I would 100% recommend to give these ago before you give up I am going to order a couple more pairs so I have them everywhere thanks so much.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersSo as I warned this is TMI.

I gave birth to my little boy via c-section under GA in an emergancy. So we both weren’t we’ll post op & he especially was sleepy so establishing breastfeeding was so difficult. I also have extremely soft & inverted nipples so he struggled to latch & we were both in tears. I was worrying about supply & ended up giving formula for his first days.

I thought I’d give these a go. To give him something to latch onto whilst asleep & to keep going. He latches so well onto man bottles & thought why not +great reviews.

We started using these today & we’ve managed to breastfeed all day, no tears and it’s been pleasant! My milk supply is building. I know they say the only struggle is to ween off nipple guards but that’s not a concern as if this is what I need to do to help my body feed my baby boy – it’s not a lot to ask.

I know there’s a lot of controversy, I’m now in so much of a happier place, they’re so soft and easy to sterilises. We are now bonding so much better and understanding so much despite a traumatic birth!

Mam you saved me & made me survive the baby blues & gave me so much.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThese saved my breastfeeding journey!

I was just about to give up when someone suggested I try nipple shields. I selected these ones as my little one was drinking from MAM bottles.

I started using this when she was 2 weeks old and ever since the first day of using them I have been exclusively breastfeeding now for 8 weeks.

Nipples shields get a lot of stick but I think they are amazing. They haven’t affected my supply at all, I’m fact I think they help my baby as I think I may have a fast let down.

Because of them I have had a pain free breastfeeding journey which I know so many people struggle with.

I don’t see any reason to wean my baby off them as she is gaining weight lovely, maybe I will one day but for now I couldn’t feed without them. I purchased 4 sets in total so that I wasn’t constantly washing them, although very easy to do.

The MAM shields saved our breastfeeding journey. Baby latched to them very easily. The carry case makes them easy to carry around in your bag when out and about.
I did have a couple of issues with them which were that baby would frequently peel/knock them off quite easily, even as a newborn. Also the case they come in can be used to easily sterilise them in the microwave which is super handy, however the case is very hot when taking out of the microwave and it is easy to spill any remaining water and inadvertently burn yourself.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMums struggling to breastfeed- Please try these before giving up.
My baby struggled to latch from the get go and completely refused the nipple for weeks. With using bottles with expressed milk I had lost all hope of ever getting my baby on the breast. In a last attempt before calling quits on trying to get her to latch onto me I ordered the nipple shields and she took to them straight away. Please be aware if your baby is used to bottles they will get frustrated with having to work for the milk but after a tiring few days we have been bottle free for over 2 weeks and exclusively on the breast!!
Tips- They are fiddly and a pain sometimes but the more practice you get the easier it becomes.
They look huge but once your baby has latched you will need all the extra space.
My baby prefers the MAM shields to the medela, would be worth trying both to see what your baby likes.
And keep trying!! I lost all hope of being able to feed my baby directly being 3 weeks in but we made it.

My baby is now 2 months old and I used these shields alot between weeks 2 – 4. The birth didn’t go to plan and ended up being an emergency csection. I felt like I had let my baby down. Then in the hospital I was really struggling to get my son to latch and asked every nurse to help me. It was very stressful and I secretly cried and felt like even more of a d
Failure. I was only allowed to leave hospital when I showed he was latching then as soon as I got home we really struggled again. Looking back it was very frustrating and upsetting. At his first midwife appointment he had lost 6% weight and had to be weighed twice again untill he reached his birth weight after 2 1/2 weeks. After the first appointment I bought these sheilds and I can honestly say its the difference between him thriving now on nothing but breast milk and instead having to bottle feed. They are easy to use and steralise. I was using them non stop for about a week and bought another set. My breast were getting engorged and he couldn’t latch and these solved that. He went back to the bare breast fine and now we dont need them. He was weighed by the health advisor at just under 8 weeks and is at 90 percentile for weight and 98 for height and I am so happy to see that he is growing well. If for whatever reason you are hesitant to buy these shields give them a go!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy midwife recommended I get nipple shields when baby was a week old and was identified as having a tongue tie.

She couldn’t latch properly and took loads of time and effort to get enough milk. We spent all her awake time nursing which left my nipples very sore and she’d fall asleep hungry from the effort.

PROS: these shields provided enough protection for my nipples to heal whist still nursing. Baby found these much easier to latch onto when she had the tongue tie. The sterilisation case is a handy feature.

The nipple shields combined with catching let-down in a silicone pump to feed baby as a top-up after nursing meant that we had no problems with weight gain while we waited for her tongue-tie division procedure.

However, they had some very frustrating aspects which meant that I was relieved when I didn’t need to use them anymore.

CONS: They’re hard to put on effectively, especially one handed. You can kind of slap them on in a hurry but they’ll probably fall off mid feed, or may come away in baby’s mouth when they pull their head off. It’s difficult to use them discreetly and I didn’t feel comfortable feeding in public while using them. It’s yet another thing to have to remember to keep clean and next to you for feeds, so I kept one upstairs by the bed and one by my downstairs feeding spot.

Also be aware that it can take weeks to wean baby off nipple shields and learn how to latch onto the nipple properly. Once my nipples were less sore, I’d regularly skip the shields and top up the feed with a bottle, so baby was used to alternating between nipple and silicone teat. I think this helped her re-learn how to nurse without using shields after the procedure.

Overall, the benefits greatly outweighed the frustration as they helped my baby continue to gain weight and helped both of us continue breastfeeding while we waited for a tongue-tie division procedure.

For me this has been a real game changer. My baby is 10 days old and has struggled with latching from the beginning. She refused to feed from the left breast and would only feed from the right after struggling to latch anywhere from around 15 mins to 1 hour and by that time she was exhausted and extremely upset and hungry. I spoke to multiple midwives and health visitors, I’ve also breast fed successfully before so know what the latch should feel like and how she should be latching on. Nothing I was trying or doing was helping her to latch until I found these. My baby had lost alot of weight since birth and we are having weigh-ins with health professionals regularly. Since using these I have found she latches straight away, feeds off both sides, and with the help of an expressed bottle to top her up after feeds she has started to gain weight again really well. They have totally changed my breastfeeding experience with her and she is a happier and fuller baby because of it. Would 100% recommend trying, it might not work for everyone but it has worked for us. I’m so glad I found these and gave them a go.

Size 2 fits me well, I did measure my nipple to make sure this was the right size for me. I did have to you tube the official ‘how to use’ video to make sure I was doing it right. The instructions it comes with on the pack aren’t really clear.

They sterilise in their case really easily and quickly.

Only cons I have are that the silicon doesn’t always stick particularly well to skin surrounding nipple but given how well she is feeding now I don’t mind.

Sometimes baby is so hungry they just latch straight onto the nipple part because it’s quite prominent and in their face. This latch does hurt so be sure to take them off, re position and get a wider, deeper latch with the shield on and then it should be much more comfortable. They are great but you still have to get the right positioning with them in order for them to be comfortable.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersNot something I knew existed prior to the birth of my second child, I do not know why these aren’t recommended more often. A week into breastfeeding with cracked, bleeding nipples I was told that I had slightly small/flattish nipples and my baby had a lazy latch so we’d have to try harder (how much harder can you try?) or accept that formula was our best option.

Cue finding these. Made feeding bearable whilst I repaired and baby is happy to use them. We are 9 weeks in now and our only issue is that baby still prefers these over the actual nipple and when offered the alternative will only try it for a few minutes before deciding it’s too much effort to latch. We will continue to wean him off the shield but we aren’t unhappy with the situation as baby is feeding well. These literally saved our breastfeeding journey. That is not to say they’re perfect as they can be a bit of a faff and there have been several instances where they’ve come off mid feed – this is mainly down to the fact that I don’t always have two hands free to attach the shield and so it is not fitted correctly prior to commencing feeding. Cleaning isn’t much of a problem – a teat brush is required and I would definitely make a note of the fact that it’s not something that can be used one handed and from time to time even two hands does not guarantee that the shield won’t pop off but overall they’re fairly decent and we haven’t had too many problems.

There is the small issue of looking somewhat like a lactating dominatrix, but again you just get on with it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was unable to breastfeed first baby due to seriously inverted nipples and ended up expressing for a year and bottle feeding. Basically I had no time for anything and no life for a year as I was constantly attached to breast pump. Fast forward to baby number two and this time I was prepared knowing that I didn’t have the time to be able to express with a toddler in tow.

These are absolutely AMAZING! I bought four different brands of shields and took them all sterilised and ready to the hospital with me. We used the Medela for the first few days and although baby latched and fed, it would take her ages to actually realise that it was in her mouth and to start sucking. She’d cry in frustration and just not be able to actually start feeding it would take at least 10 mins to get into a rhythm. Then we switched to these Mam shields and within seconds the milk is flowing. Seconds. And there’s loads of milk.

She’s now 5 months and we’re still using them and she’s putting on weight really nicely (75 centile!). Feeds were long to begin with, in the early days could be around 30-40mins a feed, but now 10 mins and she’s done. I’ve replaced the shields a few times when they’ve discoloured etc but they have completely changed my breastfeeding journey.

Will my baby ever latch without them? Not a chance. Do I care? Absolutely not! I can give my baby my milk on demand wherever I am (as long as I have a clean shield with me!) and that makes me the luckiest and happiest mummy in the world.
