Unleash Chaos and Customization on the Pitch

The electrifying world of Mario Strikers returns in full force with the release of Mario Strikers: Battle League Football for the Nintendo Switch. This latest installment in the iconic Mario Strikers series propels players into an adrenaline-charged five-on-five football frenzy, where offense reigns supreme. Having dived into the pixelated pitch myself, I’m thrilled to share my impressions of this game that combines the magic of Mario with the thrill of competitive football.

    On-Pitch Anarchy:

    1. Unconstrained Gameplay: Mario Strikers: Battle League Football takes the traditional football rulebook and tosses it out the window. In this uproarious take on the sport, the conventional notions of penalties and fair play are thrown to the wind. Anything goes, and that’s what makes the game a delightful departure from the norm.
    2. Offense-Centric Gameplay: This title places its bets heavily on offense, providing players with the exhilarating opportunity to unleash an array of offensive tactics. The result is a high-octane experience where every second counts, every decision matters, and goals can be scored in the most unexpected ways.

    Customization with a Kick:

    1. Gear-Based Customization: One of the game’s standout features is the ability to customize your team using various gear. These gear options not only change the visual appearance of your characters but also alter their in-game stats, such as speed, strength, and pass accuracy. This customization adds an intriguing layer of strategy, allowing players to tailor their team to their preferred playstyle.

    Multiplayer Mayhem:

    1. Local Multiplayer: The game offers a riotous local multiplayer experience, accommodating up to eight players. With four players on each team, the chaotic nature of the matches amplifies as friends and family compete head-to-head in football madness on a single Nintendo Switch console.
    2. Strikers Club Mode: Online play receives a commendable addition in the form of the Strikers Club mode. This feature enables up to 20 players to band together and compete in a bid to rise to the top of the global club rankings. This mode adds a layer of competition that extends the game’s longevity and provides an exciting way to challenge players from around the world.

    Final Thoughts:

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football proves itself as an unapologetically wild and exhilarating take on football, defying conventions in the most delightful manner. The game’s emphasis on offense, the chaos that ensues on the pitch, and the inventive use of gear-based customization create an experience that is both engaging and addictively fun. With local multiplayer providing uproarious entertainment for gatherings and the Strikers Club mode adding an extra layer of competitive depth, the game manages to strike a balance between pure joy and strategic challenge.

For fans of Mario, football enthusiasts, and those simply seeking a fast-paced and spirited gaming experience, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is undoubtedly a title worth considering. It melds the familiar charm of the Mario universe with the frenzy of a football match, creating a concoction that is sure to captivate both newcomers and seasoned players alike.

My son’s got this and played it for a couple of weeks. It grabbed their attention briefly then got left in the drawer. Probably not good value for money because of the lack of replay appeal.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Short-lived fun.

There’s not loads of content, and online multi player is abit weird how you have to connect two switches, but this game is an absolute laugh with friends and family.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI thought that we’d play this as a family more. But my wife didn’t want to. We’ve got four controllers, but I was keen to see all 6 of us play. The four kids loved it. But it wasn’t quite amazing enough to win over my wife. To be fair very few games hit this high bar.

But it hits the high bar of a local 8 player game of which there are only 3 others that I can think of, Smash Bros, and Runbow being the other 2 (bomberman is in there, but I didn’t think it was that great).
    Worth it.

I loved the classic Mario Strikers game for the Nintendo Wii, the controls were so smooth and really utilized the Wii motion controls making it a fun experience for the player. While I consider it my favourite football (Soccer) game, I feel nothing come close to this experience. Thats why I love this edition of the title, Mario Strikers Battle League Football for the Nintendo Switch, a well deserved title and challenging for players of all skill types, while it takes a while to adjust to the controls and all the new combo moves, I feel its no where near the same as the wii motion controls, as I feel the Joy-cons lack what the wii had, while the new controls are nice Its not as smooth as the original wii controls but It doesnt ruin the game at all and you can still have fun playing it whether its with the Joy-cons or pro controllers, as I found them to be most useful.

If anyone played the Fifa street titles then you’d love this game as I feel mario strikers draws inspiration from fifa street more then the main fifa series. The special and combo moves when scoring really make it fun to play and each character has different skills and moves that leaves the player with endless hours trying each one out or figuring out all the moves.

really like this game and its so good to make a comeback after so long.

This is a brilliant game of football to play it has lots of personality and the graphics are amazing. Hopefully they add more stuff in the free DLC like characters, stadiums and Striker Challenges.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe game has a way to go to be perfect but is tonnes of fun! I play on my own both locally and online and have been having loads of fun. Not sure why some have reviewed it so badly!

Great pick up and play game with loads of on screen graphical action and exciting arcade style sounds.

If you like this kind of game you’ll love it. If not, then obviously you won’t.

It’s like a football super smash bros game to me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFinally after ages a new mario strikers.
The gameplay is absolutely fun and playing online can get really competitive.

It’s a loop that will keep you coming back for more and hopefully with the seasons mode there’s ranks to gain but it’s not live until 9 days which is a shame. You can do 1v1, 2v2 even 2v1 online. It’s absolutely hectic end to end fast paced fun and the art style is beautiful.

One main gripe with the game is that there’s no statistics page. There’s no way to see how many total wins, goals scored time played or anything. With a game that relies so heavily on the gameplay there must be enough reward or progress to see.

All of it seems to be tied to the clubs seasons mode but that isn’t live yet.

The gear system is good and seems balanced enough at the moment.
Really can see myself playing this for ages.
It all depends on the competitive mode and if they add more characters down the line.
