Its a well made game, well it has to be to stand up to being whacked by a four year old ! Easy to understand whack the moles that light up your colour ,can be 1 or 2 player . It tells you the score and which colour has won. Our grandaughter loves it.
The moles do not pop out of a hole, but instead they are already out on the board. They just light up when you are supposed to hit them. There are five moles and the middle one can light up red or green. There are two modes of play – 1 player or 2 player. For both modes, there are also 2 levels of play – easier/harder mode. My 4 year old found it entertaining, but after a few plays were over it. I’m hoping we can take it out once in awhile to play! The sound gets muffled because the speaker is on the bottom – when I put it on our Nugget cushion we couldn’t hear it at all. So I had to put my finger under one end to let the sound come through. I think this is a great starter game for 3-5 year olds, but I don’t imagine older kids being that interested in it.
I’ve had one for years for my grandchildren to play with. It’s held up extremely well considering how hard the smash the heads! Ordered a new one for another set of grandkids to have at home for xmas present.
Our kids have a ton of fun with this. The quality is comparable to the price and the fun is worth it. It holds up well to their abuse and I am very happy with the mileage they have gotten out of it.
5 stars!
This game essentially brings the carnival wack-a-mole game home. It is a smaller version with two players. The first thing I will say about this toy is that the sounds can be very annoying after awhile. It is loud and sounds like an arcade is in your house. The nice thing at least is that the speaker is on the bottom so it drowns out all the sound if it on top of carpet. The light up is bright and easy to see so you are not second guessing. It does require three AAA batteries in order to work. I used rechargeable and it has not died out yet. I am unsure how much each play actually drains. The battery cover requires a screw driver to open and close. There is a power switch to turn the device on on the bottom as well. It is a bit interactive toy. It asks you questions at the beginning to determine how many players. It is pretty simple just wack red for one player and wack green for two. This also helps determine the level. There is no way to set the timer from what I can tell. The point system is straight forward (plus one for green or red and plus two for white). The lights are bright so it is hard to miss. The wacking tools is plastic and not foam so supervision is suggested. The wacking tool seems semi durable. I am scared the constant wacking might break the middle in the future. It is a very basic game so my niece and nephew honestly only play for 10 or so minutes (2-3 rounds). It does help with hand eye coordination. The actual moles seem to be able to take some punishment. You do not have to hit it very hard but my nephew and niece will wack this thing with all their might. Overall a simple game, but the sounds get muffled on carpet and can be a bit annoying to in sound for people.
This game is pretty fun for kids and adults. Very easy to play. So far the moles have withstood the beating my young kids have given them with no breaks to the game or the clubs. So it must be pretty durable. It has different levels of difficulty. Of course all are easy for adults but still a fun game to play with the kids. Very simple, fun, and not a million little pieces to lose or clean up after!
Even tho age limit starts from 4, our 2 years old has been getting a good kick out of this game. Easy, fun and simple. Just enough to make them giggle and excited for hours.
Both my 4 year old and my 10 year old really like playing with this.
It isn’t too loud, which is a bonus.
It is easy to “whack” the moles. You don’t need to hit very hard at all.. although, my 4 year old does like to hit them very hard.
Super fun.
I have to admit that I was skeptical. I thought this would be some cheap little knock off of the Whack-A-Mole concept, but boy was I wrong! This is a well made, really fun game for kids (and their parents), It’s really simple, all you do is whack your mole when your color lights up. Whoever whacks the most moles wins and the game keeps score. This is a great exercise in motor skills for young kids and is sure to generate lots of laughs. You do have to give it a pretty definite whack to get it to register, so little kiddos with special needs might need a reminder to really give it a go. A good buy at this price point just be forewarned – this is not a quiet little board game, so get ready for some high energy fun!
This is a great home version of the classic Whac-A-Mole game. There are 5 plastic moles with light up heads. When the light comes on you hit them with the plastic bat to earn a point. There’s multiple ways to play, either alone or two-player. I did have to remind my 7 year old that, unlike the original arcade classic, this doesn’t require you to smack the moles as hard as possible to get them to stay down. You just hit them and the light will go off. They’re basically buttons. The volume can be a little loud, so repeated playing might get a little obnoxious. Either way this is a fun home version of the classic arcade game.
My boys are 2 & 4 years old and this is just the game for them. They love to whack things and understand the mechanics of the game well enough. They like playing 2 player – the game has both 1 and 2 player modes along with 2 levels of play for difficulty adjustment.
If playing 2 player, each participant has a color and they hit the moles of their own color. Moles light up when ready to be hit. When hit, the light goes out. They move around a bit as well but don’t retreat into a hole. The middle mole can be hit by either side so this can occasionally cause conflict or whacked fingers, but that’s par for the course with 2 boys.
Overall this works as expected and kids really like it. Would also make a cute gift.
This game is really fun! My 4 and 6 year olds love playing it and I had a lot of fun playing it with them. It was really easy to set up. Basically, you just pop 2 AA batteries in the bottom and it is ready to go. It talks you through it (press one color for 1 player and another color for 2 player, press one color for level one and another color for level 2).
Honestly, who doesn’t love Whack a Mole? It brings me back to the childhood days of the church festivals and trips to the amusement park. The moles don’t actually pop up and down (they just light up) but it’s still fun nonetheless. My boys really like the 2-player mode.
I love playing this game with my little man, we have so much fun! The laughter is real. It’s good for eye hand co-ordination and quick thinking, as you whack the moles as they light up. Keep an eye on the middle mole as this one is wild and worth extra points.Just a FYI, the moles do not go back in the hole when whacked. This game is sturdy and takes the rough play. It takes 3 AA batteries which are not included.
Highly recommend
This is a mimic of those real whac-a-mole games from the shopping malls when I was growing up – those with moles going inside real holes. This is smaller and the moles don’t go in anywhere, they have hats that light up, and when they do, you are supposed to hit them so the light goes off. There are one player mode and two player mode, and two levels each. Fun games with young children. I played many times with my daughter too bad I can’t control myself from winning and she gets a bit frustrating sometimes. If she had a little friend to play with that would be even more awesome. I think they have lots of fun just banging on them. It could get noisy.
Whac-a-Mole is a somewhat mindless game, but it’s lots of fun if you’re around 4-5 years old. Anyone older than that might think it’s too babyish, but our five year old twins and their four year old cousin love it. The object of the game is to bop as many lit moles as possible before time runs out. The special mole in the middle is worth more points, so bopping him gives players an edge, but only when he lights up in the player’s assigned color. Bopping moles that are not lit subtract from a player’s total.
Two levels of play are offered—at level one, the speed is slower and less moles light up. Level two is a sped-up version and more moles light up throughout play. This game can either be played by one person or two. I like that the winner is announced electronically—at the end of each game, the toy’s voice says how many moles the red player bopped, and how many the green player bopped. That has helped us keep the peace. I also like that this is an easy game to keep track of—it consists of only the mole board and two boppers which fit nicely back into the box when play time is over. Three AA batteries keep this game lively and our kids entertained.
