This Scribing Tool is just a job, especially If you are scribing shelves in an alcove in a 15th century cottage, where the walls are curved and at multiple angles and you’ve got to go round beams. !!

Just make sure to tighten up the screws very tightly before you lift it out of the alcove to transfer to your shelf for scribing. This is a little tricky as sometimes the tightening screws are right in a corner, but I found wearing gloves helps with the grip.
Of course, the little rulers are solid, so your scribing line is only going to be a guide, but it gets you too within a few millimetres. Just allow for planing to get an exact fit.
Very useful tool for those unusual jobs.
