I didn’t think there was much to consider in the design of a baby gate but there are a couple of things about these that I appreciate that thought has gone into.

The handle released is a simultaneous squeeze and lift mechanism, so more co-ordination and strength than a toddler has are required to open them rather than some of the simpler latch designs I’ve seen.

The clever bit of design I like is that when fitting these gates you have to use the adjustment/fixing bolts to flex the top of the frame together to get the latch mechanism to work, This means that you have a much more secure fit in the top of these gates than other older designs that I found would easily slip out of the door frame at the top.

I found these to be very solidly secure and fit for purpose. Recommended

This is my third safety gate I’ve tried other models but always go back to this one, it’s very easy to fit, the reason I like this gate is because I’m a big lady, this gate has a wide opening, other makes of gates were to narrow and I got bruises on my legs and hips. So if your like me and need plenty of room this gate is for you. It’s the best on the market in my opinion and not expensive.

Easy to put together. Steady. Would have preferred handle which could be opened easily with one hand as you need one hand to press button and other to lift handle.

The baby gate is easy to install. I will recommend getting a non sticky pad in lieu of those provided with the gate.

Would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a baby gate.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI read loads of reviews about saying its hard to open with one hand when holding a baby etc. All you need to do is squeeze the blue part on the narrow side, not the bigger side and it opens very easily. I have 2 and both perfectly working still after almost 2 years

Simple to fit and feels secure and safe. Child proof handle has started off a little stiff but not difficult to open. Comes with little spongy stickers to protect paintwork and door frame. Overall good value for money.

This is very easy to install and pressure fits between our hand rail and wall. You can close the latch at the top and also put the secondary latches down at the bottom to make sure little hands can’t easily escape! Only down side for me is you can’t undo the top latch with one hand (I have small hands so it may be easier for others).

Easy to install and does the job, but (1) I wish it was possible to open the lock with one hand and (2) I knocked my tigh several times onto the left side when it is open! It sticks out 🙁

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job :)

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersExcellent stair gate. We don’t use it for kiddos but for doggo’s instead and it works very well.
It is easy to install and use. I find some stair gates can be tricky to open but this one is simple.I also cannot review on how well it works for stirs, as we only use it on ground floor doors, for rooms we want to keep the dogs out.

It looks good and is well made and good value.
We use it to stop our 1 year old puppy from going upstairs.
You do have to make sure that the lock engages by tightening up the sides. Ours didn’t quite ‘catch’ at first and it didn’t take long before our little monkey found out she could open it!
Makes we wonder what would happen with a young child hanging off if but, as I said it is well made and I should have checked the fitting.

I have a puppy and wanted to have a barrier for him so that he can stay away from staircase when i not around, and this product does the job very well. Quality is also good and i like the product.

I was a little sceptical after reading some of the reviews about ease of opening this gate but so glad I did. It’s really sturdy, easy to install and open. I have since ordered a second one.

Honestly the best stair gate I have used and I’ve had a few different ones. My boy is now 4 and this is sturdy and secure. I would definitely recommend this stair gate to all.

Pleased with this gate, it’s been a long time since I needed one!! this is for my new puppy .. looks good

only negative perhaps is the handle its really a two hand operation so no good if you were carrying a baby but will be fine for my needs.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe became grandparents to not 1 but 2 beautiful grandchildren in 2021, so we had to re baby proof after many years. This gate is very easy to fit, I had to buy the extender too, but it didn’t take long to do & I managed it myself. I chose this gate because it has an easy open handle/catch & I have Rheumatoid disease so need to be able to manage it easily. I also wanted a gate type that you can easily walk through. This is perfect, it’s been up about a year now & works a treat, keeps my little ones safe when they’re with Nana & Grandad & saves me from chasing them from the stairs! Good quality, good value & a trusted brand.

This is a really solid, well made item. It fits the space well and cannot be pushed over. We wanted something that would go across the stairs to a newel post without having to drill and some I had seen seemed to fill the space but were not secure. We have two new big puppies and needed to give the cat a sanctuary upstairs. The dogs have thrown themselves against it several times and it hasn’t moved at all.

The catch says it can be worked single handed but it is not easy to manage it with one hand having to squeeze and lift. It is fine if you can use two hands, and the mechanism is good and solid – even with shaking it doesn’t come open.

The only thing I would say are not good are the instructions – they do not really explain the fitting, and I spent ages trying to get the bolts to attach to the gate (they don’t – they just sit in and tension against the wall). Once I worked out how it worked it was fine. Although I do seem to have quite a few attachments left in the box that I haven’t a clue what they are there for.

Having said all that, I thought it was so good I have just bought another one to give the cat some privacy for her litter tray.

I bought this gate for my son to keep him safe. This is a very good quality gate, very well made and well functioning gate. The mechanism of opening this gate is very easy for adults but not for the toddlers. They cannot open it as it needs pressing two buttons at the same time to open it. Closing it is quite easy, it just needs a gentle push. This gate is quite sturdy. My son holds the gate and shakes it forward and backward but this gate stay there standing strong. It does not has any sharp edges that can hurt my son.
The down side is when I had to attach an extension to the gate as my stairs are comparatively wider. Opening the cap from the gate’s side was just too difficult. At one point, I thought that while opening it with a screwdriver I might break it but at the end I got it opened. It deserves 4.5. I am removing 0.5 stars just because of the tough time opening the side cap to fit the extension.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great functionality and safety for babies - Video included

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersToo many reviews read like advertising pamphlets, I have been reviewing for a long time and have resolved to write honest reviews,
the good the bad and the ugly as appropriate.

I write my reviews based on personal experiences gleaned as a result of decades of experiences in a professional occupation, as a
consumer, a property owner and raising a family.

When I first bought this Safety gate through Amazon it was being sold at a charge of 20.00 as a prime item. August 18 increased to 27.95

Prime items are sold with a promise of next day delivery to amazon prime members

You cannot rely on the next day delivery promise.

There is no reference as to what the additional, if any, postal charge will be applied to non amazon prime members.

The Gate was delivery in a timely fashion in the manufacturers cardboard box which was easily opened.

NOTE, The minimum size stated is the absolute minimum with NO way to install the gate unless you have a method of widening. (removal of timer plaster or whatever)

There is an instruction pamphlet in the box which is next to useless.

Aside from the gate there are also four bolts and nuts which simply push into the four our side corners.

This is the design failure as compared to other baby gates that I have used. I currently have four in my home for use with a combination
of restricting access to dogs and in regard to my grand daughters play room upstairs.

You have to use a spanner (a poor quality lightweight spanner is supplied) to tighten the gate against restraining door frame or whatever where the gate is located. A turn wheel would be much easier in addition to the tightening nut.

The press in and lift latch requires the use of both hands.

It is possible that practice will enable the latch mechanism to be manipulated by one hand.

There is also a small attachment that can be affixed to the floor level bar to strengthen ? stabilise the gate when closed. The problem with this is that the gate cannot be opened if both sides are engaged even when the top latch is undone. You can set it up in such a way that the gate can only be opened in one direction, inward or outward depending on what you want.

Overall, when I bought this (30/04/2017) at a cost of 20.00 delivered as I am a prime member it represents good value. It is well made. 01/08/18 increased to 27.95
