Used this product for a gum abscess. It gave about 3-4 hours pain relief per application. Got me through a few painful days before having the tooth removed.
I usually use Frador but it is so difficult to find. Thought this was worth a try. Only need a small amount and I hold it on ulcer for a few seconds instead of rubbing it in. It works quickly.
While it certainly provided some relief by numbing the affected area, unfortunately, it didn’t fully get rid of the pain I was experiencing. Upon further investigation, it turned out that I needed a root canal.
That being said, I believe this product is better suited for those experiencing mild tooth discomfort rather than more severe pain. Overall, I would still recommend it as a handy addition to your dental care kit.
Works for dental discomfort , no need to over use it. Fiddly to apply but does help until you can get to a dentist.
This is a very handy product to have around and it does help with toothache
It worked for a little while and tasted strongly of cloves
Was useful in reducing my tooth pain; was so painful before and the gel worked quickly and effectively
Numbs doesn’t last long though and its yuck tastes of clove oil but if you can deal with the taste and don’t mind reapplying often it’s for you.
So I rarely write reviews, but I really wanted to give feedback on this item in the hope of helping someone in my situation.
I currently am waiting for medication for a B12 and folate deficiency that came to light after a recent blood test. One of the more miserable side effects of this is chronic mouth ulcers, which I have now experienced twice in the space of about 6 weeks. The first time, I started with about 5 under the tongue, which then spread to my lips over a few days, leaving me with a total of 10 of the blasted buggers. It took me a full 10 days to recover from that. I used Oralmedic to get me through the final few days as I was so miserable with not being to eat or talk properly. This medicine was absolutely brilliant but an eye-watering 15 treatment for only two doses, which I was definitely not willing to pay again so soon after the first episode.
I decided I needed a middleman that may not be as effective but would help me to cope. Happily, I came across this product which was a fraction of the price.
This episode of ulcers was not as bad in the sense that I had about 6-7 in total, but only one of them under the tongue was a real nuisance. So I gave this medication a go.
It took me a couple of goes to get the medication to work effectively. Apply the gel over the top of your index finger, and then apply on the sore. I kept my mouth open for a bit to dry it out. It stings a little but nothing like Oralmedic. Your mouth needs to feel tingly and numb (like when you go to the dentist), then it has been applied properly. I personally felt relief for a couple of hours, not fully, but enough to talk and eat a little more comfortably. I would couple this treatment with Ibuprofen etc and salt rinses, and avoid SLS toothpaste if you can.
I’m over the worst of this episode now, so hopefully I won’t need to buy this gel again after getting my meds. In conclusion, definitely a better option than Bonjela, but not as good as Oralmedic.
This is excellent for sore places caused by new dentures until all the alterations are complete by the dentist. A must for the cupboard of any denture weare
I am a big fan of orajel, find it to be more effective than bonjela or other similar products. Great for instant toothache relief! Or to use on ulcers
Have a large ulcer on roof of mouth due to medication hurt to do anything I came across this gave it a go best stuff ever wouldn’t be without i
In the past few months, I’ve had 2 large painful ulcers appear. A small blob of this gently applied directly to the ulcer is all it needs. There’s a small bit of pain for a few moments and then bliss. Absolutely perfect for just before eating.
I must say though, this tastes horrible. But taste isn’t a problem when you’re in agony. It’s pricey but worth every penny in my book
This stuff is an absolute lifesaver! After being in pain for days with absolutely no relief, this stuff worked a miracle on canker sores. Almost instant painkilling and it lasts a good while as well!
My only thing is watch out for the flavour, it tastes absolutely disgusting, but a small price to pay if you ask me.
Please try this if oral ulcers flare up from time to time. Within 1 minute of applying any pain or discomfort is gone. Tiny tube hides huge benefits inside. & is effective for ages. A tiny amount is all you need so it will last longer than you think.
I have such a painful ulcer thats been catching between my teeth, Bonjela was doing absolutely nothing to help so I bought this instead – numbs pain instantly and lasts hours, doesn’t sting at all and has a much better flavour to it. I managed to get through a whole 8hrs office xmas party and karaoke so I highly recommend this!
This gel really does the job. It works instantly. I bit my tongue at it was really saw. I put a small drop of this on it and it numbed it instantly. Word of warning this stuff is vile. I can’t describe the taste, but it’s really really vile!! It would have been nice to get a bit for the price. However, I cannot stress how fantastic this product is.
Had severe toothache and while this product certainly provided instant pain relief it’s not as powerful or long lasting as it’s sister product. The unpleasant taste was very reminiscent of professional dental products which lingered on the tastebuds.
Bought this due to a large ulcer on my lip.
It numbs really quickly but also numbs anything else the gel touch’s, so some of my tongue as well.
It provided enough relief to allow me to eat some food without the soreness of the ulcer spoiling it.
It’s definitely a different experience to Bonjela and this would be a great relief if you had toothache so it’s got multiple uses.
Hope you found my review helpful
Applied & within a minute I felt the numbing effects. I was in pain for days (mouth ulcer) so decided to purchase this product as i couldn’t bear the pain anymore. I was surprised at how quickly this took away the pain. Works very rapidly, I will purchase this with no hesitation anytime I have an ulcer. Brilliant product, what could make it better is if it were bigger.
I’ve recently started Invisalign and part of the treatment is having ‘attachments’ put on your teeth to help secure the braces. These in turn are absolutely crucifying the inside of my mouth when I remove my braces for eating or drinking. This gel is an oral pain lifesaver – and that’s no exaggeration. I only received it this morning and I can’t emphasise enough my relief at having found it. First time I applied it after I’d eaten and it calmed my mouth down. Second time, I applied it about a minute before eating and it worked brilliantly. I managed to get through my dinner with not half as much squirming as previous attempts. It’s a gel but a not too thick gel, so it’s not sticky and gunky over your fingers. It covers an area well, so try to be quite precise to your area of pain. I give it five stars and highly recommend.
Since lockdown has shut all local dentists I got a sense of dread when I started with a toothache in my upper bottom teeth. I also had increased nerve sensitivity so I was getting sharp shooting pain which worsened with cold / hot / acidic foods.
Sensodyne toothpaste was not working for me and I was desperate for something as it was effecting my sleep.
I impulse bought this and it’s a fantastic local anaesthetic gel. It really helped reduced the shooting nerve pain. I just say it’s only temporary and lasts about 45 mins but it was enough to help me fall asleep and give me some relief.
After about 5 days of use the pain subsided and not had any pain since and it’s about about 4 weeks. I’m keeping it in my cupboard for further dental pain, would definitely say it’s an essential to stock up on for first aid dental relief !
I never usually take the time to review things, however this deserves to be spoken about. Whenever I feel run down I suffer with mouth ulcers, and they are extremely painful and uncomfortable, especially when eating. During this time I usually run out and buy standard bongela, however due to the current circumstances that is not possible, so I came onto amazon to order some bongela, however I came across this product and saw the amazing reviews and thought i’d try something new, and I’m so glad I did. Bongela does eventually work for me, however it takes about 3 days before I even see a change, and it stings really badly upon applying, HOWEVER this product is amazing. Upon applying there was zero stinging and it numbed my pain immediately. I was actually shocked when I applied it as the pain went immediately. I was able to eat straight after with no pain! I’ve only been using it for 18 hours and my ulcers have already started to get drastically better. The taste is bearable and you only need to apply a small amount for it to work. I will NEVER be buying bongela again, just simply this product. I’m convinced ‘MAGIC’ is missing from the ingredients. 100% recommend.
Never written a review in my life but this product deserves it. It basically works like a numbing cream that they give you at the dentist. I was unlucky enough to have painful ulcers dotted around my whole mouth so I rubbed it in all areas and even though I had a numb mouth, it meant I could actually eat my meals without the ridiculous pain! I put some on before bed as well and I was sorted after 3 days of using it. Literally a blessing, I was in agony the day before I ordered and I’m so pleased I did. My only tip is that if you’re eating/drinking, it does tend to rub off if you don’t leave it ‘settle’ for a few mins, but I always just reapplied after. Thought I’d run out with constantly applying it but there’s plenty left so can’t recommend it enough if you’re in pain. 🙂
