I bought one, loved it, so bought another two. Siting the external unit is the secret…it needs to be able to get a reading but away from direct sunlight….sheltered from the rain if possible…and easily accessible for a batter change. It’s a lovely system though. Well made, well designed.
I have to place a heater in my van when frost is forecast to prevent damage to equipment. Previously I didn’t know if I had set the heater too low or too hight and wasting electricity
I have placed the sender unit in my van to monitor the temp and it reads accurately on the display. The temperature in the home is also displayed accurately.
I can now set my heater in the van to the best temperature (around 1 or 2 degrees c) to avoid using too much costly electricity. Importantly it will also let me know if the heater fails and the temperature falls below zero.
Very pleased with the product indeed and it’s saved me a few quid on my electric bill no doub
Easy to set up, but at first I thought it wasn’t working because the red LED flashed only momentarily when I installed the AAA battery. I didn’t realise until later that to save power, it’s programmed to do temperature checks for around one second every minute. It also takes a long time for the monitor reading to stabilise when first set up, so don’t worry if the reading appears obviously in error for the first two hours. Other temperature gauges in our house verify that the Oria is accurate. I bought it to monitor outdoor temperature and set it up in a sheltered area using a mini hut-shaped bird feeder suspended from an external wall hook which works as a met. observer’s Stevenson Screen, shielding the gauge from direct sunlight, wind chill, etc.
Great little unit and reads indoor and outdoor temperature accurately, probably also indoor humidity. But on the first day of use wind and rain blew water directly on to the outdoor sensor module making it register 99% humidity. It’s never properly dried out and even when the humidity is relatively low (in minus temperatures as an example) it’s over 90% all the time. This is Scotland… but it is not THAT damp! I may bring the exterior sensor indoors and dry it out, before placing somewhere that direct rain can not reach it.
Bought for my mom and she’s happy. I have noticed that many reviews of these devices complain that the external thermometer reads differently to the base station when sat next to each other. This was also the case with this one on initial setup but leave them half an hour and it was fine.
I almost returned the thermometer after believing it to be inaccurate. Then I discovered that it takes a little over an hour to slowly change the reading after positioning the transmitter outside when there was a 9 degree C difference to inside. If Amazon sold patience I’d buy some!
Great easy to read thermometer for inside and outside temperatures and very reliable. I bought this to replace an existing one as the outside transmitter had broken after being blown to the ground by the recent strong winds. It is a pity that you can’t buy the transmitters separately as they are obviously the most vulnerable element of the kit. As the internal display of the old unit was still functioning it was reassuring that both displays were reading the same internal temperature when the new unit was commissioned.
The product works well, but the hole to hang the sensor is not big enough for any nail or crew that I have.
it is now taped to an ornamental tree in our front porch. A probe through a window would have been less. trouble.
The thermometer is in a sheltered position on the back wall of of our small 18th century stone house and the screen is just inside our front door, so no difficulty with wireless reception, even with three stone walls in between. All for a very small cost. The small screen is very easy to read.
Easy to set up (needs four AAA batteries) and the neat display unit is compact and clear. The outdoor sensor looked a bit glossier than the one I was replacing but the leaflet said it was weatherproof. I put some tape around the battery compartment edges just to make sure! Overall, very happy.
Used to monitor outside temperature. Receiver inside apartment not far away from Transmitter outside in plastic box to protect from rain.
Very easy to set up. Just insert batteries.
Seems accurate by comparing inside temperature (also displayed) with another make (Oregon) of unit.
Fast delivery. VERY GOOD VALUE.
So far no problems.
Much easier to set up than our previous indoor/outdoor thermometer. However is a plus or minus one degree C an acceptable variance? Acceptable for the price – this time
Was easy to set up and seems to be accurate. Has only been in use to monitor temperature in a greenhouse for less than a month and so far appears to be working correctly. With these sorts of thermometers it is too early to tell how long batteries will work, and as the sensor is not exposed to the elements hopefully it will last a fair amount of time (in the past I find outside sensors will fail and you can’t get replacements).
Got it set up and so far very impressed. The temperature it is measuring outside is comparable to our other device outside on the other side of the house. Only thing I was expecting was a min/max feature due to this comment in the questions answers section “Not a graph, only the maximal and minimal temperature of the day.
By David Palacios on 29 September 2018” but this is not the case. No fault of the vendor, should have double checked. I saw it wasn’t mentioned as a feature but due to the comment I thought maybe it had been forgotten about in the blurb. If you want MIN/MAX feature then you need to get the other Oria Indoor Outdoor temperature device (with a round display and a MIN/MAX switch on the back). Other than that I’m very happy with product so far.
Not much to say as hygrometers are not something you can go in to too much detail about but this has been working well for me so far. Clearly displays all the readings required in your preferred format and it is accurate from the couple of checks I have done up to now. For the money can’t really go wrong.
Great thermometer i had bought one that sticks on the window but it was only giving the inside temperature and was actually way out with the readings ,this one is great if gives inside and outside temperature and humidity as well the sensor outside is easy to install and pretty accurate as well so I am very pleased i changed to this one much much better and worth the money
