Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe first example I received was faulty. It worked for a couple of hours then the screen went blank and the batteries (which were new) were flat. I replaced them and tried to power up again but still a blank screen and the batteries began to heat up. I suspect a dead short had developed within the receiver unit. I reported a faulty device to Amazon who sent me a QR code immediately. Next morning I took the package and the code to the post office who printed a label and accepted the package. By the time I got home Amazon had credited me with the full value. I immediately ordered the item again, hoping that it was just my unit that was faulty. The order was delivered the same day by 7pm.
The new unit worked fine out of the box and I am pleased to say is still ok after one week.
I like the unit a lot. It is small enough to fit in anywhere but big enough to read easily. It seems surprisingly accurate. The indoor unit and external sensor, if placed side by side and allowed to settle, read within 0.1 degree and the outside sensor reads withing 0.5 degrees of two analogue thermometers I have there (which differ from each other by 1 degree). I haven’t been able to buy an accurate analogue thermometer since the EU banned mercury ones! I find the indoor and outdoor units take quite a long time to respond/adjust to changes in temperature so be patient – they will get there. My only serious gripe, and the reason for knocking off one star, is that I find the range rather low. In open air it may be better but in order to get a reliable connection when the receiver is indoors and the sensor is outside the distance apart must be no more that about 60 feet/20 metres if there is one wall between them. At that distance the unit works very well. I advise buyers to think about where they want to put the transmitter and receiver before buying. For the price it represents good value.
EDIT: Just under two months later and this unit has now failed. The indoor unit randomly shuts off and sometimes restarts itself. Consequently it loses any stored data. Replacing batteries makes no difference. This problem is similar to the original so I suspect there is some internal flaw in the design or manufacture.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTried taking batteries out, resetting switch to 1 & replacing batteries as instructed. Red light flashes on transmitter, so presumably that is working, but receiver just won’t pick it up a few inches away on the inside of the double glazed window.

Wifi connection is working on good speed, router’s about 4 feet away inside window. Moving receiver further away makes no difference.

**EDIT**: Upgraded to 4* from 1* as I managed to sort out the problem by ALSO briefly taking out the batteries from the receiver (as well as the transmitter) & replacing them, whereupon the outside temperature was immediately readable on the internal unit. Must have been a “pairing” problem, nothing to do with the batteries themselves, as the clock & inside temperature had always displayed correctly from the start.

Accuracy seems reasonably good, as I bought an Anself Digital Weather Station LCD Wireless Indoor Outdoor Thermometer at the same time (one for each side of the house), and the readings of the two are always within 1C of each other. The Anself was much easier to set up & worked immediately without any problem, but isn’t as easy to read as this Oria, which is very good for those with poor eyesight, as the digits are larger & there’s obviously the backlight to help (which is in itself a very attractive, restful colour).

Instructions weren’t great – they don’t mention that the “switch to 1” is a tiny, short black needle *inside* & at top left of the battery compartment. That & the pairing issue already mentioned aside, this seems quite a good & useful unit for the price. Can’t comment on the min/max facility yet, nor durability of course.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe outdoor unit is two walls from the receiver but no problem communicating. The readings agree with a different unit and when I had the outdoor unit inside it corresponded with the receiver’s reading to within less than 0.5 degrees C. Good value, simple and efficient device.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy partner tested this item. This is his review.

This is a room thermometer with a wireless satellite sensor which can report temperature from another room or outside location. This is the first item we have tested from the brand ORIA.

Initial set-up proved to be quite straightforward. Following the instructions worked really well. I simply placed 2x AAA batteries into the main unit (receiver) and then placed 2x AAA batteries into the wireless sensor (transmitter). Everything seamlessly connected between the two units.

The instruction manual is actually quite reasonably written, following the instructions allowed me to set up the clock quite easily.

There is a backlight present which provides a good amount of light when pressed.

We found that the temperature reporting was within a reasonable margin of error to other room thermometers of equal standard (up to 1-2c higher than an old analogue room thermometer). Obviously, this shouldn’t be used for scientific purposes or anything that requires a great deal of accuracy, as per all of these sorts of lower priced level of equipment.

We currently have the wireless sensor placed outside, which allows us to see how low the temperature gets outdoors. Included on the wireless sensor is a little bungy-style string which you can use to hang the sensor onto something. Also included is a small suction pad to stick onto the outside window / patio door. The sensor can then be hung onto this suction pad using the bungy-style string.

There is a note in the advert “The remote sensor must be always placed upwards so that rain won’t get inside the sensor through the vent holes on the bottom of the senor. ” – This suggests that it has been designed for outdoor weather conditions.

I tested this item using Alkaline batteries but I would usually use low self-discharge Ni-MH batteries. I will move to LSD Ni-MH batteries once I obtain some more. If I find any ill effects from using them, I will update this review.

For the relatively low price of 13.99, we think that this is decent value for what is on offer. Although it is notable that there is no hygrometer. Should you be looking to measure humidity, you will have to look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indoor thermometer with a wireless sensor which can be used indoors or outdoors. Easy setup.

A thermal thermometer is a handy item to have at home or even in the garden or a storage facility. I wanted one for my home, so I tried this one from ORIA.

The digital thermometer has a lot of different functions. It also displays time and has a 12/24-hour switch. It has an accurate reading, an LCD backlight display, and 3 mounting options: tabletop, wall-mounted, or magnet. It is powered by 2 AAA batteries, but these are not included.

It may be a basic temperature thermometer, but it has all I need for indoor temperature measuring and outdoor readings. It has large bold numbers that are easy to read which is excellent for me.

As for the waterproof part, it does well with moist areas. However, I would not leave this outdoors in rain or submerge it in water.

I like how the body is nice and solid, however, I have tried another thermometer recently and this one works much better but the other one is more stylish and has a better look too it.

Overall, it works well and is reasonably priced.

This is a basic inside and outside temperature monitor that looks ok.

Just not sure how water proof the outdoor part is. To me it’s not waterproof at all. Just needs putting in a place where no rain can get it is as in under the guttering out of the way.

It does look on after setting it up, Clock was hard to set but once set looks nice. Shows 2 temps. 1 for outside and 1 for inside. Both readable.

Has a backlight you can press on to check thats a nice Orange glow to it.

I do like it but it is basic. Still giving it 5-5. Looks good and is really cheap. I would recommend these for anyone who just needs to know what the temperature is outside and whats it inside.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI really like this Station nice and solid.
It took four battery to get going but then you get instant results. I will update on how long they last.
I have used the sucker to hang the outside sensor but think I will change later as I don’t think it’s safe in the wind.
Really loving the inside display looks very solid snd get design very pleased.
Instructions are simple and straight forward.
    Absolutely great price point 14
I can’t stop looking at it and it’s great coming down in the morning and knowing the temp outside.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks great and easy to set up

I’ve had this device for 2 months now and it has worked really well monitoring the temperature in my indoor fridge/freezer and a freezer unit I have situated in a nearby garage. The device has been monitoring continually both in a freezer/fridge and has worked perfectly during this time. There have been no signal drop outs and battery performance so far is good. I use Alkaline batteries in the fridge sensor, Lithium batteries in the freezer sensor and just standard rechargeable batteries in the monitor itself. The display is very clear with a nice orange back ground. When buying the unit I found the description to be slightly confusing as the ad could suggest that the unit is touch screen, the screen itself isn’t, but the buttons are !!! The instructions that come with the unit are poor, the text is so small even if I had perfect eyesight it would be impossible to read some of the text. Fortunately the unit once matched with the sensors is easy enough to figure out. I am quite impressed with the range of the unit.
