This works really well as an expansion, allowing players to return to the game etc is a great twist!

We have all the explanations and this is definitely our favourite so far, closely followed by barking kittens!

I bought this to play at Christmas time with the family and it was a success. Ages ranged from 6 upwards and everyone enjoyed it. It will definitely be one of our go to games along with classics like Uno.

We have some of the other exploding kitten games but this is by far our favourite. It takes a little time to learn what all the cards do but once you’ve done that it’s super fun. You will play this again and again and won’t say no when your kids beg to play ” just one last time”

It’s a great game me and my partner in our mid 20’s play it every couple days. We plan on getting an expansions pack. I would recommend this game for everyone. More fun with more people.

Bought for my son for Christmas, this has fast become our favourite game!! Easy to learn, fun for all ages, we played with people from 10 to 75 and we all loved it. Good concept, basically like Russian roulette but a lot of fun.

Exploding kittens is a family favourite, enjoyed every game night and holiday trip. As with every game, the more you play it, the more familiar you get to the strategies and play styles.
What better way to level the playing field than with new cards, actions and advantages?
Barking kittens delivers this in style – and by style I mean the glamourous new hat a lucky player gets to wear!
The kids loved the new ways they can screw dad over and avoid the exploding kittens!
The box is bigger than the base pack, because of the hat, but that means it is able to hold the original set plus additional expansion sets easily.

    woof, meiow, boom!

The game itself is designed fab with no excuses to any parts of good card game.

But the quality of cards and box is impressive. also the support via home page extends the scenarios of game so you’ve never bored with your set.

Good choice for all ages: we play from 10 yo to 67.

Have been playing the base game with the imploding kittens expansion for ages and wanted to switch it up! Nice graphics, cute references to the UK! Would definitly gift this to someone traveling or living in the UK!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat game, took one practice run to understand the game and got better each time we played it. We played it with my 8 year old son and he really enjoyed it as well. Only 4 stars as 20 quid feels like a lot of money for a pack of cards.

We currently have family games night every week, I bought this game for this reason.
There are 3 of us that play together in a house share, we are all adults over 30 years of age.

The game is incredibly fun and only gets better with each expansion pack but I’ll focus on the main pack for now.

Exploding kittens is a great game for beginners in the board/card game genres however I do have a few minor issues with it.

While the game is incredibly fun, will definitely get people laughing at a party and is very to pick up and play, the rounds don’t last all that long which may be good for some people but we tend to like games that last longer.
Most of the main cards you will be using have pretty much the same effect on the game like stealing from someone else or making them pick up the next card and I could see this becoming repeative over time.

That said once you’ve got a little bored you can get the expansion packs and they definitely do add more fun to the game.

We will definitely be playing this game every few weeks and breaking it out at parties that’s for sure, the quality of the cards are really great and the pick up and play quickly is useful.
I would totally recommend this game for families wanting to get into games however more seasoned board games might want to go for something a bit more difficult.

4.0 out of 5 stars Explosive fun for games night.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersEver seen Finding Nemo? Our kids are Dory. Keeping their attention on anything is the hardest job I’ve ever personally faced as a parent really. (That and the fact that I’ve nearly died multiple times from the strategically placed toys they leave lying all over the place. ) Anyway, that was until exploding kittens came along. They both sit down and get fully immersed in this game. It’s savage, its hilarious and it’s great family fun. If you’re looking for the one to keep the family entertained then this my friends, this is it.

This is a great little package, containing most of the original game and its many expansions in one edition. Hadn’t played the game before buying this, but the addition of the booklets which allow for different cards to be played in the game makes this a very viable purchase.

Bought as a gift for my grandson, he loves it. Unfortunately the first one I ordered never arrived but Amazon refunded me in order to order another. It was cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else so I was happy.

It is a bit complicated at first, but once you know the rules of the game, it’s quite interesting. We played this game as an ice breaker and ended up all laughing & enjoying ourselves. Would definitely recommend to families and friends wanting to try something new

The children loved the idea of this game. We have played it a couple of times and each time went well. We had to remind ourselves of the rules each time, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The game was fairly fast moving and funny and the children did not lose interest or concentration. Neither did they miss their electronic devices! Recommended

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersExploding kittens is the most fun card game I have ever played! Whenever going on holiday or a weekend away if there is one card game to be packed then this gets taken, no questions asked! This card game has so many elements with tactics needing to be employed to stand the best chance of avoiding the game-ending exploding kittens! The game is super fun even for just two players, and it becomes even more tactical with more players. There are also expansion packs that can be bought separately to add even more layers to the game. It can be as quick as 10-15 minutes or can go on for about 45 minutes with more players. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because it is rather expensive for just a card game; however what it lacks in monetary value it certainly more than makes up in terms of fun and giggles. You will not be disappointed!

This is a good card game to play with family and friends. The only downside like with a new board game is understanding the game itself. It takes some time to understand and relay the game to others but once done it’s a great, fun game

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe have previously bought Exploding Kittens and the expansion packs so was delighted to see this pop up in time to be purchased for a birthday gift. Zombie Kittens can be played as a game on its own or with the original Exploding Kittens pack. Be aware that the makers of this game make ‘adult’ version of the game
that are labelled ‘NSFW’ – some reviewers clearly weren’t aware of this…

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersExploding Minions is the bomb-dot-com of card games! This spin-off from the popular game Exploding Kittens packs a punch of laughter and strategy that is sure to have you and your friends in stitches.

The game play is fast-paced and frenzied, with players using strategy to avoid being the one who gets caught with the Exploding Minion. But don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to defuse the situation, including special action cards that can save your bacon.

The artwork on the cards is bright, whimsical, and true to the Exploding Kittens brand, making it a joy to play with. The cards themselves are high-quality and durable, ensuring that this game will be a staple in your game collection for years to come.

Overall, Exploding Minions is an absolute blast. It’s the perfect game for game night with friends, family, or even solo play. So grab your friends, grab a few beers, and get ready to explode with laughter with Exploding Minions. 5-star rating!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this on offer for our after xmas dinner game. Whereas its fun I am glad I didn’t pay the full price!

Only negative I have is the kitty speaker has never worked and just makes a static sounds when you open the box. Couldn’t return as didn’t open until Xmas and needed it that day, so opened and used the card packs.

The game itself is a quick to play time killer which once the family understood they will be victimised and targeted for explosion, a lot of fun. So even when you are out the game it is only a short wait until the next round (avoiding a repeat of Monopoly ’21). Fun drawings and thoughtful artwork. If the expansion packs go on offer I may be tempted.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this as a family game to play with a 5 and 8 year old. Since playing it it is the only game my boys want to play.
Initially when you unbox the game the cards look complicated however it really isn’t, there is handy key to each card on the instructions that I kept in front of me during the first game as although each card tells you the actions it’s pale white and small print which I struggled to see. After one game we all got the hang of it, took my younger son who is 5 longer to get to know the card meanings as he can’t fluently read yet but after a few games he knows the actions of each card from the pictures.
I was initially worried reading some reviews but there is nothing untoward with any of the cards and it is totally suitable for young children.
The aim of the game is to not explode which happens by picking up a explode kitten card. Each player has to play an action card and end their go by picking up a card from the deck (which could be an explode kitten card) you avoid exploding by defusing the kitten with a defuse card. So you want as many defuse cards as possible in your hand. Along the way each card you lay has an action like steal a card from someone, skip picking up a card, stop someone else’s action card.
Really enjoyable game, in a handy box to make it easy to travel with. Perfect camping game or holiday game.

This is a great family game! I was searching for a card game that was small and compact yet contained all the fun, engaging elements a classic party activity should have. I came across Exploding Kittens on Amazon and I have to say, I didn’t hear about the hype but I understand it now.

This game is for mixed ages and doesn’t draw away from the classic competitive, strategic entity yet delivers a round of laughs and jokes. The game really gets you thinking in order to plan your moves ahead, and is full of laughter and surprises.

The visuals of the game are stunning. The party pack came in a beautiful box (which I don’t want to explain to much as it will spoil the amazing contents) and was delivered with care. The animations and graphics on the game cards really stand out from there opponents, as I haven’t see anything like this.

The game is tricky to understand at first. Undertaking not only the rules and what cards to use but how each card works and playing methodically. Exploding Kittens definitely emphasises the ‘more the merrier’ prophecy.

It takes a roughly two rounds to get a grasp of how the game works, but do watch the YouTube videos by Matthew Inman (I believe) who describes it all effortlessly.

Definitely try this out but do avoid getting exploded!

Golden Review Award: 260 From Our UsersAt the time of writing this there are mountains of reviews (rightly) praising Exploding Kittens for its accessibility, production values, presentation and general excellence. There aren’t really any reviews explaining what exactly a ‘Russian Roulette’ card game actually entails, so as endlessly charming as the game is (and it really is), I thought I’d explain how the game works and why it is an excellent game in its own right.

The mechanics are pretty simple. Each turn you will (generally) have a number of cards in your hand that allow you to do a number of different things (more on those in a second). You END your turn by drawing a card. If you draw an Exploding Kitten card, you are out of the game and the card is removed from the deck. Hence the ‘Russian Roulette’ element. In every game there will be one less Exploding Kitten card in the deck than there are players, so in the end one person will win when everyone else has drawn an Exploding Kitten card.

The game is spiced up by all of the other cards in the deck. It is worth mentioning to begin with that everyone starts with one Defuse card, and others can be drawn from the deck during the game. Defuse cards are the only cards that can save you from an Exploding Kitten. If you draw an Exploding Kitten and have a Defuse card, you can play it and place the Exploding Kitten card back in the deck wherever you want, in sight of the other players or not (in case it’s not obvious, that element adds a really devious strategical element to the game).

All of the other cards can be played prior to you drawing your card and ending your turn, and generally in some way reduce your chances of drawing a card. For example, the See The Future card allows you to look at the top three cards of the deck before you draw a card, the Skip card skips your turn entirely, and the Shuffle card does what it says on the turn and allows you to shuffle the deck before drawing a card. There are also cards with art on them that have no actions, and you can collect these and play them in sets to allow you to take cards from other players.

The action cards are perfectly balanced and designed to add strategical and (to some degree) bluff elements to what is essentially a game of luck. There is no getting away from the fact that luck plays a heavy part in this game, but actually the playing of the actions cards and subtle attempts at deceiving the other players make this game feel far more strategic than it actually is, which is a good thing. Ultimately every game will include some element of trying to mislead other players and trap them into drawing an Exploding Kitten card, and that is part of what gives the game its high replay value.

Games are quick, normally taking no more than 15 to 20 minutes, and much like other casual card games like UNO, there is normally a strong desire to ‘to just play one more time’ before finishing or moving on to something else. I was an initial Kickstarter backer for the game, and have played it as part of game nights as well as with various combinations with my family in more casual settings, and everyone has taken to the game well and wanted to play a few games in a sitting rather than one.

When I was younger I remember playing UNO and various traditional card based games with my family either on family holidays, after meals, or at family gatherings and such. For me Exploding Kittens is that sort of game for a new generation, a game that is most certainly casual and can be won by anyone due to the luck element, but that contains enough charm, strategy, and that all important ‘just one more game’ factor to make it a stable for any family or group. As such I would heartily recommend it; in my view this game is a genuine classic that deserves to be as highly owned as the likes of UNO.

On one final point as to whether this is suitable for children or not, given that the game inherently involves explosions and kittens there are some morbid elements that parents may think are unsuitable for very young children, but actually the game is presented in a very comedic way, and I would have thought that the game would be suitable for any children that are old enough to understand the rules. The box says it’s suitable for 7 and up, which feels about right to me. I do reiterate that this is a review of the standard deck though; the NSFW (Not Safe For Work) deck contains explicit cards with very mature themes, and is most certainly not suitable for children. If you take my recommendation and buy one of these to play in a family, make sure you buy the right one if you’re playing with children!
