Most rechargeable batteries I have bought over the years have had some amount of charge in them.
This one was totally flat and on my charger would not take a charge.
To be fair to PDstation they did offer to send another battery out straight away and with no need to send the dead one back this I refused and returned it for refund.
I have now bought a genuine Dewalt 4amp battery.
UPDATE. PDstaion have sent me a free battery to try, it does seem absolutely fine, I admire the seller for their perseverance to get this sorted so I’m changing my originsl star rating to 5* …….. Now having used this battery for some time with no problems I will have no hesitation in buying from PDstation again.
Had a problem with first battery and was replaced new battery worked well, good value for money
Battery life good
Slight issue with one not charging but replaced under warranty, so can’t really fault it!
Much more cost effective than DeWalt original, remain cool in use and charging so seem if decent quality
Generally a good spare or replacement battery, works as intended and charges well, doesn’t seem to preform as well as it’s official counterpart (in both charge and power) but it’s still a welcome budget offering that still gets the job done.
Good customer service.
Previously two of these stopped working after using with a circular saw to rip timbers they overheated and stopped charging..
The seller kindly replaced them free of charge and the replacements are working fine I wouldnt use them for heavy duty tasks like ripping just to preserve them I am happy with them for lighter tasks like drilling and impact or jigsaw they work just fine. Thank you
Great price for the power I need but, only time will tell as I’ve only had them a few days and used them without issues
A really good battery that can easily be mistaken for the official ones.
Holds the charge very well, and lasts ages when used too.
It’s well made, rock solid, and fits perfectly and securely.
The three light Led display to show the battery state seems to be somewhat accurate.
As good as others at a fraction of the price. Recommended.
Currently 26.99
Pros:
Looks good from the outside
5Ah = 5 Amps for 1 hour or 1 Amp for 5 hours etc
Appears well made
Worked on my Dewalt (I order items I can actually test)
Seems to last when charged
Cons:
Questionable reliability based upon a review where the battery set on fire!
Will update after further use (outside)
Great batt and a decent third party alternative, just be aware this wont fit new Fatmax models.
This does fit my xr brushless saw, charges well, really like the batt level button on the batt, not sure about longevity or charge holding as i’ve only used it twice but power and performance has not changed at all from this or the dewalt official batt.
Not a heavy dewalt user but my orbital sander is heavy on the battery’s and this holds up well but I can only compare to a 3ah battery that I have in it. This is a good upgrade at a fraction of the cost.

I got this battery as a spare and have had no issues with compatibility my Dewalt drill when testing it. The battery is a bit bigger than my original but does a decent job as an alternative. I like that this is ROHS certified it gives me a bit more confidence in its reliability and safety.
As can be seen from the photos, the battery is identical in every way apart from colour. It fits my Dewalt tools and charger fine and I haven’t noticed any difference in use. The battery has the same level indicator, and the battery seems to be lasting just as long and holds its charge when not in use. I’ve drilled a few holes though thick floor tiles over the weekend using a diamond hole cutter and the battery powered my drill just as well as the more expensive branded one and the battery was still showing full, no quality issues and much better value, I can’t comment on longevity at this stage but will update the review if it falls short of expectations.
I have had a hard time finding a battery that would work with my drill.
I had been looking for a replacement battery for my Dewalt Drill.
So, I ordered it and it works great!
It fits just like the original .
It arrived intact in a very protected box.
So this battery slots into a Dewalt charger, and charges, and it slots into a Dewalt power tool, and that goes.
Being an indicated 18V 5Ah this is a good battery standard.
There’s a three light display that indicates charge – familiar, does it last as long, I didn’t break out a stop watch but it seemed to last as expected.
Usual caveat this is a new from the box review, I can’t then speak to longevity but I think on balance given the price point, which is very competitive against the branded price this is a reasonable purchase, certainly as second battery to keep your going.
I picked this up to test a cheaper alternative batter as I have a lot of work around the house at the minute and every spare battery helps. This is much much cheaper than a genuine and definitely has some cost saving measures in place, however it does work. I wouldn’t say it lasts as long as the original and so probably falls below the stated 5ah. However, it works for long enough for another to recharge so that’s all I need and makes this much better value for money.
his is a dewalt 18v xr replacement battery, work with all dewalt 18v xr power tools, it is the 5ah capacity model, there is a built in 3-led indicator to show the remaining battery level
the battery is robust, well made, it’s compatible to dewalt kit battery chargers, takes around 70 minutes to full from empty
running time depend on the consumption of the power tool, with the help of the power led, i never run out of battery with my combi drill and reciprocating saw, i will do a full charge whenever i saw one led left after using the tool
it works perfectly so far, i don’t see any performance degrade or problem using a compatible battery, happy with it, would recommend
This battery holds its charge really well and is a good fit for dewalt power tools. It’s widely compatible too – there is a list on the product description. Overall, good product. Would recommend it.
I have a range of Dewalt tools however I found that the batteries that come with them could do with being a bit better so when I saw this I thought I had to try it out…and it works a treat.
I was working on a shed yesterday and I found that my existing battery would give up the ghost after a while, however, this one lasted the full job.
Now yes you can tell the difference in the quality of the plastic etc, however, that didn’t phase me because I like to know how it performs and for what I needed it was great.
I thought I’d see if this would fit my Stanley Fatmax 18V drill, because DeWalt and Stanley (and Black and Decker) are all part of the same company, and there are visual similarities between the products of all three brands. Research suggested there was a good possibility that it would fit at least the older Fatmax tools, though not the newer 20V range.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The interfaces are visibly different in detail, and the contacts are also different. The battery went part way on, but would not make contact. The company has obviously engineered the batteries of the three ranges not to be interchangeable.
So I am unable to test this battery until I get a DeWalt tool, but I can say that the quality seems good for an inexpensive copy. It doesn’t match the finish of the Stanley battery, which has embossed lettering, rather than a printed sticker, for example, but I believe it will offer value for money, whilst not matching an original for performance.
PDstation DCB184 18V 20V MAX XR 5Ah Lithium-ion Battery
Having recently purchased a DEWALT Oscillating Multi-Tool which came with a single battery, I was pleased to receive this non DeWalt battery which is claimed to be compatible. Admittedly the battery that came with the tool was 18 Volt 5.0 AH which is a high capacity battery, but it never hurts to have a spare battery that can be fully charged and ready to go. This battery too is claimed to be 5.0AH.
My first impression was that this appears to be well made, apart from the colour differences and different labels this does look very similar to the original battery. It does have ‘Made in China’ stamped on the underside but to be honest, there’s not much these days that isn’t. In fact I have had some very good products that have been made in China.
As is the case with my DeWalt original battery, this too has a button on one end where you can check out how much power is remaining in the battery. I slid this into my DeWalt charger where I had to give it an extra shove at the end before it clicked into place. I was pleased to find that just 30 minutes of charging brought this up to full capacity.
The battery is identical in size as the original, it slid and clipped into place with no issues whatsoever, press the button on the tool and away it went. So far this is working without issue, I have not drained the battery yet so I have no idea how long this will last on a full charge but so far it’s working well. I only needed a spare battery where this one fits the bill nicely, it’s certainly cheaper than buying an original named battery.
So far I have been very pleased with this.
Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.
For those who don’t know, a 5Ah battery is capable (under ideal conditions) of drawing 5 amps continuously for 60 minutes. So it’s an ideal upgrade for those who require the extended run times, and the higher torque output you’ll achieve. Compared with a 2Ah battery pack, which uses five 3.6V batteries connected in series, this 5Ah pack contains 10 3.6V batteries connected in parallel, which is why it’s twice the size.
Straight out of its box, this battery took just 15 minutes to reach a full charge. On the subject of charging: when you locate it in the grooves on top of your charger be sure to slide it into the housing until you hear it ‘click’ into position, and that the red light is flashing – when it stops flashing it’s charged. It fits snugly into the base of my drill, and displays a useful LED indicator.
In operation I was very pleased with this 5Ah battery, and I certainly noticed the difference when compared with the 1.5Ah batteries I’ve been using. I tried this continuously over a few days, whilst doing jobs that required a lots of power: drilling brick work for a multitude of anchor bolts, boring holes through 6in timber for an heavy-duty work bench I’ve been making for my workshop, and fixing screws in cabinets I’m constructing. I found that this battery held its charge well throughout all of those tasks, and charged up with no issues between jobs.
I also liked that, despite its larger size, it still fitted in the spare compartment within my Dewalt carry case. In my opinion, if you’re an occasional DIYer then the lighter, slimline batteries will probably suffice. However, tradespeople, and those on substantial home projects will certainly benefit from upgrading to one of these 5Ah babies – I known I did. Given this battery’s build quality, usefulness, and reasonable price tag, this is a product I have no hesitation recommending to you.
