Price increase and at times get the bags not filled fully!
Petsafe needs to be careful. All it takes is one person to come up with a cheaper alternative that offers the same quality of service and people will go with that brand.
Great product but the price has got more and more expensive over the last few months and is becoming unaffordable. The replacement trays were expensive anyway, but they’ve gone up by over a third in the last few weeks. Even just getting a bag of crystals isn’t really a saving. Not quite sure what’s happening with the pricing system!
My cat and I live in a retirement flat on the second floor. The outside doors are locked with key fobs to open them; so he can’t go outside when he wants to.
I first tried a conventional litter tray, but the smell was horrible and i was forever cleaning it; so I bought this one. It’s quite expensive, buying three at a time, but one tray lasts about a month, there is no smell and, apart from changing to a new box once a month, there is no cleaning, either. The silicone chips absorb fluid keeping everything dry. The cat likes it and so do I. A good invention!
This has got to be the best litter tray ever! Easy to use and super quick to clean! However the price increase doesn’t make it worth the product anymore. I’d rather spend an extra half an hour cleaning a normal litter tray, than pay 36 for one during this living crisis!
I have been purchasing this product for a number of years now. No complaints at all about the efficiency or effectiveness of the article; it’s a brilliant product. However, couldn’t believe it when I checked my list of items being shipped and saw this has increased to more than double for the single tray! Amazing item, but with this huge price increase, for me, it is no longer a sustainable purchase and I shall find a less expensive alternative.
Having 2 cats in the house and having to clean the trays all the time i decided to make the leap and purchase the self cleaner with disposable trays best move I did however 1 tray last 1 week and a day or two with 2 cats before needing changed.
At the previous price I could accept buying 3 trays every 3 weeks was worth it for the convience.
However both the 3 pack and single pack have more than doubled in price since my previous purchases which makes this item a absolutely 100 percent poor value for price and sadly I won’t be purchasing again.
I have been using this product for years using the save & subscribe and it is brilliant. In October I was charged 47.50 and now the price has jumped up to 75.99?! Why?! Please reconsider the price as you are going to end up losing so much business because at that price it is unsustainable.
Love this product and have been using for the last 5 years. Have had to replace the main body several times, not realising that PetSafe do a 3 year warranty. My bad.
BUT and this is a big one in my opinion, the cost has spiralled and has now increased by 50% for the triple pack and over doubled for the singular packs – why?
This has now made this a luxury item in the current cost of living crisis and I am having to reconsider using this and looking at other options.
If anyone has any great ideas on how to use this and keep the cost down then I am all ears.
I have tried the reusable tray and it isn’t as efficient and you obviously have to empty and clean it which was one of the most convenient aspects of the replacement trays.
PLEASE Petsafe look at the cost of these and how realistic it is for the everyday Joe to be able to afford it!
I have physical disabilities, and dealing with the litter tray daily was causing me a lot of pain. I was told about this product (and the scoop) in a group I’m in by another person with disabilities.
This has really helped me, and in the long run my cats, as they have a constantly poo free tray to use.
My cats took to this instantly, and they didn’t have any issues with it.
I have quite large cats, my female being the largest, and they both have no problem fitting in it (we have the hood because my name likes to fling litter out).
It lasts 2 weeks before I need to swap it out with a new clean one.
It has made litter duties so much easier for me.
Highly recommended
Recently brought a self cleaning litter tray that used these refills. The product functions brilliantly. I’ve been to friends homes who use ordinary litter trays and it makes your home stink really bad. But with this product you hardly notice the smell at all. The blue crystals dehydrate the no.2’s and prevent the smell and absorbs the no.1’s and the Crystals seem to break down to a powder which gets covered by the unused crystals when the litter box cleans itself. Personally I scoop out the poops every couple of days just for maintenance and I’m getting 3-4 weeks out of a tray with one cat. Only problem with this product is the replacement crystals are crazy expensive so I don’t k ow how the cost compares to normal litter. But if you subscribe to the product to get 3 trays every 3 months it slightly reduces your costs which is something to consider when your buy one. But I’m very happy with this product and so is my cat.
These are a great fit for the PetSafe Self-Cleaning Automatic Litter Box.
Easy to use. Not too heavy to lift. A bit tricky to dispose of… I suggest wearing some gloves !
Great idea to mark the date somewhere on them when you first start using, so you can keep track of how often you are replacing them. (I found every 9-10 days for our cat) rather than the “30 days” advertised with the main product (the poop scoops very easily under the cover, but the urine remains in the crystals and the smell gets overpowering after 12-14 days).
A little pricey if used as frequently as we do, but it is such a Godsend to not have to clean the litter tray daily anymore !!
I have bought the crystals separately previously and I’ve also paid extra and bought the PetSafe ScoopFree Replacement Crystal Cat Litter trays. In truth there’s little difference other than there’s less fuss with the replacement litter tray but it is more expensive. However you can’t go on forever emptying and adding replacement crystals – it does get messy which defeats purpose of purchase and the cardboard tray can only be used no more than twice before it falls apart. I guess it depends on how tight is your budget. The most important thing to remember is that the crystals do work, are absorbent and there’s no whiff. I’ve just changed the tray after nearly a month in which my cat stopped by her PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box 78 times. I paid nearly 22 for a couple of bags of crystals and nearly 45 for three trays of crystals. I’ll let you work out the maths! In conclusion this is a great product, the self-cleaning litter box is wonderful and the cat is happy. But the crystals come at a price and rising in cost!
I like not having to deal with the litter tray on a daily basis. When I agreed to having a cat, I was under no illusions, I knew the litter tray would be left for me to deal with, (no matter what the kids/hubby said) I agreed so long as I could have an automatic litter tray. I love that It doesn’t need too much attention. What I don’t like is when it comes to disposing of the tray, I think the creators should of added tape tabs that hold the lid in place so when you put it in a bin bag it stays shut. Other that that the trays are expensive for what they are, my cat recently hurt his paw, so had to stay indoors till it healed and so the tray was used more often than usual and after 2 weeks it needed changing, not great value. Other than that I’ve a subscription so they just arrive which is very convenient. Before I subscribed I experimented and found that Wilkos silica cat litter crystals work in the tray, so that’s a cheap way of re-using the tray, If you can be bothered.( I always use disposable gloves when I deal with the litter tray) empty your tray before the bottom is soaked, Dettol spray it and use paper towels to dry it before adding them, It worked just fine and is definitely cheaper.
