I have had this air purifier for a month and today vacuumed the filter. As you can see in the photo there was loads of dust on it.
I keep this upstairs and the sleep mode is so quiet it is not noticeable and there are no lights in this mode. We leave it on auto at night now as auto is also quiet enough to sleep with imo. It automatically increases or decreases the air flow depending on what it senses in the air. For example, if I spray deodorant in the bathroom or change the bed (stirring dust) it powers into action. This is a great product but for those short in space it is quite large !

    Very good

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis has to easily be one of the best air purifiers out there. It does an amazing job of cleaning the air using it’s special 3 in 1 filter. It’s expensive but it’s among the best air purifiers you can get so I think that justifies it’s price tag. App control is great and it has a easy to use display/control panel which is conveniently located on the top but most of the time you can just let it do it’s thing and not worry about it. You only need the one filter as it’s special 3 in 1 design that combines a HEPA, Carbon and Pre filter. The filter is around 60 which may seem expensive but it lasts 12 months on average which is pretty similar to what most others work out as.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIn general, I really like Philips Air Purifiers as they are very easy to operate and are extremely quiet.

I was so happy with how it worked.

My room is small, but the Philips air purifier was able to remove allergens and dust in no time.

I can sleep much better now knowing that there is no dust or allergens in my room.

The Philips air purifier is a smart, connected air purifier that works with the Philips app.

With the smart app, you can control the air purifier from your smartphone or tablet, and monitor real-time air quality.

You can check the current air quality and get advice on how to improve it.

It has very clear instructions on how to use it.

I know the price it can be quiet high, but definitely worth it.

Overall, for me it was a life saver because of my often allergies.

    Summary
A very well thought out product with easy controls and Smart connectivity.

    Unboxing
It’s nice that Philips are considering the environment with recycled packaging in the box – with the exception of the plastic bag(s). At first look, I have to say I was impressed by the control panel on the top of the device. It provides both visual and audible feedback and visually provides a measure and indication of air quality (both PPM and Good, bad, etc. The chassis of the product is quite large but comparable to other similar devices on the market.

    Noise
I found that the purifier was particularly quiet once it reaches the selected noise quality level. I have it in my bedroom and on the night mode (lights off) it is barely noticeable. The noise level rises (as you would expect) if I leave the window open and it detects a fall in air quality but then it is doing its job – so no issues with that.

    Allergy
I have the usual summer allergies, grass, tree pollen and house dust. A purifier is a must for me in the peak months. This device does not disappoint with its efficiency at cleaning the air. After 10 mins of use, in the height of summer it helped me sleep soundly all night.

    Connectivity – initial wifi issue
You can connect this device to it own app from Philips (see screen shots). I had a little trouble with this as it could not connect to my wifi network despite being only around 15 feet from my main wifi hub with only a partition wall in between. Moving it to around 8 feet from the hub fixed the issue and it connected through the app on my phone within around a minute. I found it very responsive to the options within the app and had no difficulty in selecting my preferred settings.

    Firmware update
The app also enables the user to update the firmware on the device. I completed this update with no issues and the device continued to work as before.

    Smart
The app also enables the device to be connected to a smart speaker. I have several Echo devices around the house and therefore it makes it simple to control the device from almost any room with my voice. A bonus for a gadget geek like me :-).

    Price
A premium product from a reputable manufacturer will always command an appropriately scaled price. For me this is definitely a premium product that works well and controls my home air quality very well. Therefore worth the price.

Nice model - expensive but versatile and "Smart" too.

I have a chronic case of dry eyes which gets a lot worse when my hay fever kicks in. This is a fantastic purifier that has helped me sleep easier without frequent interruptions. The build quality is excellent and it’s lightweight. Looks very techy and operates silently in the background.

Best of all, its filter lasts for 24months before needing a replacement which makes it good value in comparison to those that need replacing every 3-4 months. The purifier has a fabric-style base and I use a vacuum to keep that clean.

Stands steadily and the controls all work expected. Top notch device that I would not hesitate to recommend.

This is a better air purifier than most that I have tried. I have a family member that suffers badly from allergies and they have told me that this has made a difference. It was fairly straightforward to set up and use. There is a certain amount of noise but after a while it is barely noticeable.
The build quality is impressive and it has survived being accidentally knocked over a few times.

I live in a semi rural setting with countryside for a garden so I didn’t think this machine would change much as my air was pretty pure. How wrong was I!
The set up of the machine is straightforward once you have downloaded the app. You select the categories and ways to purify your air according to your own needs. It runs silently at night time and once put in turbo mode, takes less than 10 minutes to purify the air,
I have noticed I am less wheezy since using this product in my bedroom. I’d recommend it to everyone!

Fantastic for purifying the air. It is super effective, does a great job in just a couple of hours. The instructions are easy to follow and the screen is easy to understand. Also wonderful for those suffering with allergies.

Our first premium air purifier! When you open the box it strikes you how large it is, that is in part due to the large filter that this Phillips air purifier houses. It’s very nicely designed to easily blend into a room and when it’s running on low is virtually silent. It’s has no remote control, instead it’s controlled via a very good very usable app, you can control everything from speed, schedule or you could put it on auto, were it’ll monitor the air quality of the room and adjust the speed as required depending on the air quality, all the while giving detailed feedback and history through the app. Now this is our first purifier, so I can’t bamboozle you with facts and figures or give comparisons to others, but what I can tell you is that it has made a huge difference to my wife’s hay fever and other allergies and my congestion/sinus problems as we have it running in our bedroom all night. My wife now works full-time from home and having this air purifier has greatly improved her working environment. The purifier let’s you know when to replace the HEPA filter which I think lasts about a year. At 25 to 30 per filter for about a year I think that’s great value, especially if it helps your allergens. A very good product.

Premium air purifier, that makes a difference.

This brings peace of mind and informed decisions to my everyday living indoor living. App is easy to install and operate. Notifications come through to advice when air quality has dropped and machine automatically starts uP. Is quiet when on sleep on low mode. Only gets a bit noisy when going onto turbo mode when air quality gets into moderate zone. It looks nice and stylish in home. Absolutely impressed with this item and would recommend for cleaner living!

    a very good air purifier

*the unit, fairly large with an easy to access filter, and all the controls on the top, plenty of settings but i have had it on auto almost the entire time. the noise is noticeable i guess but im not in a particularly quiet household so it just becomes part of the background

*App features: all setting can also be accessed through the app but i have no real need for the wifi features, i expect maybe someone with severe allergies might find useful. as the app does give you an hourly update (by default) on air quality in the room its in. the app also uses geographical location information to give you overall air quality and allergen information in your area.

  16. BetteCheongCheo says:

Philips Air Purifier is very simple to setup, you first have scan the QR code on the box or on the instructions in the booklet. Once you have done this, you must register with Philips in order to access the app.

In the app you set your location and when you want your air purifier to come on from all day to certain times throughout the day. It’s also has lots of information about allergens and so on. You can see how good the air quality is in the room and a table showing you from very poor to good. You also have the option of the fan speed from auto to sleep and one and two speeds.

I have set my Air Purifier to come on every other day in the night. It has been working great at maintaining the air quality in the room.

I do like the fact that you can control all of this through the app and it is very simple to understand the information that is provided within the app. It’s also very helpful on how to improve the air quality in the room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good!

I got this for my mate who suffers with hay-fever really badly.
He really likes all the smart features although he did have an issue with it staying connected to internet at first. He contacted support and they were really helpful with resolving the issue.

He says that there is a noticeable difference with the air quality in his house now and he would be happy to recommend whole heartedly.

This Philips air purifier makes a good first impression on appearance alone. It isn’t as bulky as I feared and looks really quite smart. It has an eggshell finish rather than the impractical high gloss that’s often used. Measurements are about 47 cms tall and 25 cms across the slightly egg-shaped top. It isn’t heavy, at a little over 4 kgs, but a handle on the back to help with moving it might have been useful. The packaging is recyclable, other than plastic bags for the unit itself and the filter.

The supplied instructions are largely pictorial but there’s more text than often found. They’re not bad but I’d recommend downloading the softcopy version from the Philips website. I tried to post a helpful link but Amazon unhelpfully removed it.

Other than unpacking (remember to remove packaging from the filter and re-install it), there’s no setup except connection to wi-fi. That’s done through the app. Note that 5GHz networks are not supported — bad news for anyone who’s trying to move away from 2.4GHz.

Operation is automatic, according to air quality detected, with a useful display on the top that includes an analysis of air quality. Coloured rings in four stages from blue for good to red for bad are used, as well as numbers, so it’s easy to see at a glance. Obviously, it’s at its best with doors and windows closed.

As well as automatic, you can choose between two speeds, turbo and sleep modes. Sleep mode means low speed and lights off; it’s whisper quiet in sleep mode. If you leave it plugged in and switched on at the socket, it remembers your chosen setting when you switch it back on.

It’s good to have triple filtration, with a Pre-filter, True HEPA for fine particles and Active Carbon for odours. They claim it even captures virus particles. Power requirement is said to be low. My meter says 29W, so running it for 8 hours/day every day will burn about 85 kW p.a. That means almost 25 at June 2022 prices, but prices will rise in October.

The Clean Home+ app is quite useful. I had no problems with it but you might like to read some of the reviews in the app store. You don’t have to use it if you don’t get on with it, of course.

Maintenance comprises cleaning the sensor with a cotton swab every couple of months, vacuuming the surface of the filter when alerted by the display and replacing the filter when alerted. The machine will stop working if you don’t replace the filter soon after being advised to. Exactly how long the filter lasts obviously depends on your use of the machine and air quality in your house. Replacement filters, FY1700/30, seem cheapest on the Philips website right now, at 37.99 plus delivery.

Long review — sorry. I hope it’s vaguely helpful, I hope. The machine isn’t cheap, currently 257.11, but appears to be a first-rate air purifier for rooms up to 20 sq. m. I’ve tried alternatives but this is my favourite, so far.

I bought this product as I was suffering very badly with hay fever at night. It helps a bit but not as much as I thought. It has quiet operation so doesn’t bother your sleep especially when your sensitive to noise. I used it more on the night in my bedroom, I noticed that our electric bill has risen.

This is the 5th HEPA filter I own.

I have bought several including a similar priced one to this.

Two were given for review this one is one of those. So I am very familiar with them and their uses and limitations and benefits.

This is the first with wifi capability. The one I bought of a similar value was bought 3 years ago pre pandemic and has a remote control but not wifi.

This one has no remote but has wifi scheduling and an app on your phone acts as a remote.

Its absolutely stunning in its performance. It has everything I already had separately in one machine. The scheduling not me turning it on and off, the ability to turn just the light off so doesnt interfere with mood in the house (minor but a nice touch) and the pm 2.5 measurement which I already bought a meter for is integrated in this machine. The airflow handling is excellent. I had someone use a vape pen near it to increase the pm 2.5 and checked it against my meter and also noted how long recovery was to get the levels back to good. It was accurate and within 5 minutes the level was down from 55 pm 2.5 to less than 4.

It increases loudness during this if set on automatic you will not need to do anything it quietens once complete.

This is capable of frequent enough air changes to cope easily in an average domestic setting and remove virus particles from it and I think looking at the CADR of it with workplace offices provided not large open plan just single office spaces. You would need to buy more units to make the CADR level high enough for that volume room and number of people on average in that room. As scheduling possible would be ideal for such a purpose you can set the days and the times.

If you want to learn more about air quality and how units like this HEPA can improve it I recommend cleanairstars in particular.

This unit is the best of the lot as it is very good value having the pm measurement displayed to you plus the scheduling facility is a time and energy saver for whilst not in the room or away on holiday.

The Philips AC1715 is a good air purifier for larger rooms, kitchens and dining rooms.

To start off with, there’s a bit of setting up to do. Unfortunately, the instruction book that comes in the box is one of those pictogram things. I’m sure that writing the manual in this way helps reduce the manufacturer’s costs, but it’s a pain for the user. There is an online manual available via a QR code if you need it and it’s perfectly fine, but for a premium product — which is what this aspires to be — it feels like cheese-paring to leave a printed copy out of the package

Once you’ve installed the filter it’s possible to use the AC1715 completely standalone if you like, but it would seem a pity not to take advantage of its online capabilities. Unsurprisingly, to do so you have to download an app to your Apple or Android phone or tablet and go through the process of creating a Philips account. Once you’ve done this you can get the air purifier connected to your Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only). This procedure will be very familiar to anyone who has bought an Internet-connected appliance over the past few years and contains no unpleasant surprises. I had no problems doing this with my Android tablet.

My air purifier asked to download a firmware update to improve Wi-Fi connectivity. This is welcome, as I have seen some complaints about Wi-Fi problems on the Play Store reviews. It went smoothly.

The app claims to support Alexa and IFTTT for integration with home automation systems. I was surprised to see no Google Home or Nest support listed, but I decided to take a punt on the off chance that it would work with Google and I’m happy to say that I was able to onboard the AC1715 to my Google Home system with no difficulty. From my phone I only get the ability to turn it on and off, but there’s a wider range of control available with my Nest hub, including speed setting, voice control and timer setting. Of course, I can still use the Philips app on my phone, so that’s no hardship.

By the way, the Philips app appears to be a fork of the Air Matters app. They offer the same basic functionality, but the Philips app pushes ads and features, while the Air Matters app shows weather conditions around the world. I know which one I prefer.

Enough of setting up. I may have made it look complicated, but really it’s not, especially if you have onboarded a connected device in the past. But how well does the AC1715 work?

The answer is that it works very well, with one exception that I’ll come onto in a minute. The display/control panel on top is especially good. A coloured ring gives an instant indication from blue (good) to red (bad) of the condition of the air going into the purifier, while a numerical display shows the actual numbers — PM2.5 or IAI allergy index. Speed control and on/off controls are also there, plus an indicator of Wi-Fi connection status and fan speed. The display brightens and dims according to ambient light levels and there is a sleep mode where the display turns off and the fan slows to a whisper.

The auto setting is particularly useful, as it adapts the fan speed to the incoming air quality, increasing when pollution levels are high and slowing down when they are low.

But there’s a problem with the fan; on my device at least. Mostly it’s fine and as quiet as you would reasonably expect, but it’s quite hard to make a variable speed fan controller that doesn’t whine at one setting or another, and it’s a great pity that this one does it at Speed 1, which is the default speed on auto. It’s not very loud, but it seems to get everywhere, and if you’re sensitive to this kind of sound, as I am, it’s quite difficult to put up with. You can hear it on the video I’ve attached to this review. I’ve not tweaked the sound levels in any way, so you’re hearing what my phone heard.

This is a terrible shame. The AC1715 is well made and does a good job. It’s versatile and, although it’s quite big at 50 cm high and 25 cm in diameter, it fits neatly into home or office environments. If it hadn’t been for the fan whine — which you may not even notice yourself — it would have rated an easy five stars, despite its premium pricing. As it is, it can only get four from me.

I am genuinely surprised by how good this is. I wasn’t expecting much, but since it was free on vine, I thought it couldn’t hurt to try.

Problem Statement: we have cats, and I have mild allergies. Although I like to think I keep a tidy home, and regularly vacuum, dust and polish, still I have sneezing fits almost every morning. On top of that, the house always smells of stale cat food ( I don’t understand why – I change the food regularly and don’t let it linger – but somehow it just seems to gang in the air.

Literally 24 hours later, and the house smells fresh, and no sneezing in the morning. Our house is fairly open plan, and the downstairs is approximately 200 square meters. I have it in the living room, about 3 meters from the kitchen and cat food. There is a wall between the living room and kitchen, but it’s partial.

I could not get the app to work (so not really sure what should happen with “sleep mode”, but it doesn’t seem to matter.

Great appliance. So delighted with how much nicer my home smells!

This is a smart looking, neat and very good air purifier. We’ve had one for many years now but this is a huge improvement thanks to more modern technology.

It comes with a QR code to take you to the instruction manual online – it doesn’t work, it’s a dead link. You don’t need it, install the Clean Home+ app and all the controls are at your fingertips. You can also control it manually on the unit itself. We run it on ‘auto’ all day as we live in an area with air pollution from a steelworks and we also have dander from dogs in the house.

The app pops up and tells me what the PM2.5 level is when it’s changed at all. You can change it to notify you of the Indoor Allergen Index instead, should you prefer. You can use Siri and Alexa to voice control the unit which is handy if you have it in a bedroom and want to switch it to night mode, or if you don’t have your phone handy and need to turn the unit on or off or adjust its settings.

It’s too early to tell whether it’s making a difference to our lives, the old one definitely made the air feel cleaner and fresher but it was very noisy, this is much quieter and easier to live with, as although it’s not small it’s far less intrusive.

It uses 27 watts electricity maximum which means even if you left on 24/7 the most you’d use would be just over half a kilowatt every 24 hours.

The price is about the going rate for one of these purifiers from a trusted brand. I’d recommend it based on what I’ve seen so far.

This purifier has lead to me getting better sleep because I no longer have a cough due to hay fever, all the irritating pollen is effectively filtered away. I have used a smaller Philips purifier similar to this in the past, but that one really annoyed me because the light would disturb my sleep and I had to cover it with a small jam jar lid. This Philips purifier is much larger, with a bigger filter, and is also connected to wifi so that you can control it using your phone. I can set it to come on and turn off at different times depending on which day it is, and I can change the settings and also turn off that annoying light! Really easy to use and set up, and it’s made a huge difference to my quality of sleep.

This is a fantastic bit of kit and because my wife suffers from hay fever and other allergies we have a none brand one already not as good or as expensive as this one but this Philips one is way way better and is WiFi using the app, we’ve never had an app controlled one before but you can just plug this in and use it with the app and I really prefer that way. It’s got a touch pad on top for setting the sensitivity level with a digital read out in red. It’s white and black so will go great in any room it’s quite stylish and has low energy use so great for your electric bill. 257 at the time of review and a great price if your budget can stretch that far. We definitely recommend it to anyone.

So impressed with this and the signs speak for themselves . It is neat and easy to move and quiet in use . You can set the time you would like it to be actively on if you are concerned about leaving it on while not home etc. The display shows clearly the air quality in your home and it is reassuring to see how the readings improve and the air feels cleaner and fresher. It removes pollens , dust, dander and mold spores from your home providing a cleaner and healthier enviroment to live in and enjoy. Absolutely amazing for allergy sufferers. This is so stylish and will suit any room decor too. The atmosphere in any room will definitely improve with this and you will feel the benefits in your general well being too.

This Philips AC1715 Air Purifier is available in both black and white — mine’s white and looks off-white rather than brilliant white. The build quality is overall very good and having owned Philips Air Purifiers in the past it’s likely to last. The unit is modestly sized — I’d describe this as a medium-sized air purifier, floor standing, but not too tall or bulky at around 49cm high and triangular in cross-section with curved corners.

This unit uses the Clean Homes App which is intuitive and easy to navigate rather than Air Matters used by previous models. The colour display and touch panel on the upper surface are clear and intuitive and, of course, you don’t need a remote control as your phone/app fulfils that function.

Setup is easy enough and I like the mini questionnaire which optimises the settings of the unit to address your concerns, for example, you might be more concerned about dust or viruses rather than mould, or might have recently had building work in your house. Less impressive is the fact that this new device only runs on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. There is Alexa and Siri connectivity via the app.

The filtration system is three-fold Nano Protect HEPA, active carbon and pre-filter which should address most domestic air filtration needs. Power consumption is low at around 27W – important in today’s energy cost climate plus you can set a timer via the app.

In use, the air purifier is quiet although you do have to be prepared for changes in fan speed as this is a unit with an automatic sensor that responds to changes in air quality, for example, if you use a cleaning spray the fan will react. There is also manual mode plus sleep and turbo settings but most of the time the unit is left in auto mode. This model carries Quiet Mark certification and the sleep mode is really quiet.

The unit features a filter replacement light. Replacement filters are available from the Philips store at around 38 at the time of this review – depending on local air conditions a filter will last up to 12 months which seems reasonable. This contrasts with a comparable but older Philips model I own which needs two filters and they cost around 75-80 a pair. The filter change process is easy.

Overall this air purifier maintains the high standards I’ve come to expect from previous Philips models in terms of build, operation and effectiveness — there’s a lot to like about this latest model.

    A breath of fresh air!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis works fine as a standalone air purifier with a touch control panel on top of it, but to get the best from it, install the app (search: Clean Air+) and connect it to your Wi-Fi. When everything is linked up, you can use your phone or tablet as a remote control to change the speed mode or to power it On/Off, see real time information about the air quality, schedule it to power On/Off, etc. You can also optimise the purifier settings (see images) and pass some useful data to Philips in the process! The app also provides data on when to clean the filter and a % countdown for when to replace it. A new filter costs around 50 at the time of writing.

It’s about the size of an average kitchen bin, relatively light and therefore easy to move around and it has a neutral (i.e. bland) design. Connecting it to my Internet and setting up the app on two Android devices was very straightforward indeed and it was, after a quick power On/Off to install a firmware update, up and running within minutes.

Functionality is so straightforward and crucially it has a smart sensor which scans the air and adjusts the speed as necessary, when left in auto-mode. You can basically switch it on and let it do its thing and forget about it. It has 5 modes – Auto, Speed 1, Speed 2, Turbo and Sleep and you can toggle between them. Sleep mode turns off the control panel backlight.

When the air is clean it hums along very quietly in the background but it does get noticeably louder when it picks up speed if the sensor indicates that the air needs cleaning. It cleans the air very quickly indeed – within a few minutes – and you can see the pollutant levels dropping in real time on the app and control panel. It does leave a room free of lingering odours (cooking, pets, etc.) and the air feeling fresh.

It works with Alexa and IFTTT, but I don’t use either.

Overall, I’ve no complaints whatsoever with this. The ease of use along with the sensor, make all the difference. I know from the experience of family members that an air purifier can noticeably improve the quality of life for people with COPD or asthma.

Ease of use, app and smart sensor make all the difference

We’ve had a few air purifiers in our home and to be honest, the Philips Domestic Appliances 1000i series (Smart) is easily one of the best I’ve used so far – the Philips air purifier has quickly become my favourite!

To my surprise; the air purifier is sleek, stylish looking and does not look out of place in the corner of our bedroom.

    Measurements:
    Height: 50 cm
    Width: 28 cm
    Depth: 28 cm

After running the air purifier for around 30 minutes, I could totally feel the difference in the air quality – the room felt slightly cooler, and the room felt fresh. I suffer from hay fever and dust allergies, hay fever has been incredibly bad this year due to the rising pollen levels in our area. I’ve noticed that my allergies have lessened whilst inside the home – I no longer feel like my nose is blocked or stuffy, my eyes no longer feel dry or sore.

We have pets in our household and I do feel that there’s a noticeable improvement in overall air quality. I am really satisfied with the 1000i’s performance.

This air purifier really does work – the filters capture 99.97% of air pollutants and allergens – also filters pet dander and gases in the environment. It uses a 2 layer NanoProtect HEPA filter which has active carbon built in and pre-filters.

    – Smart functionality, AeraSense tracks and monitors air quality, adjusting its run speed and cleaning power. The purifier isn’t very loud neither when running, even on the highest setting. Making it ideal for bedroom environments.

    – The Clean Home+ app gives you personalised advice and alerts you when the air quality is not right.

    – The 1000i has an auto-mode and 4 manual speed levels.

    – Built in screen/display, easy to read, clear and bright. Displays air quality in real-time.

Easy maintenance: The air purifier is really easy to clean and maintain – it’s compact and plastic body can be wiped down – whilst it’s filter can be cleaned using the hoover.

Easy to use, excellent functionality and top performance – highly recommended, robust and high quality, exactly what you’d expect from Philips!

I’ve been looking at getting an air purifier for a while as I live in the middle of a city, have a cat and dog and suffer from hay-fever in the summer. My house seems to be constantly dusty too, probably not helped by the combination of the pets and pollution. Anyway, I decided to give this a go and see how things went. I admit I was a bit sceptical, but went into it with an open mind and the hope that it might solve at least one of those issues.

Out of the box the set up was straight forward. The actual printed instructions are awful, literally just a bunch of diagrams with ticks and crosses all over them and I guess they just hope you can figure it out. It’s like a very boring game of Pictionary. Thankfully, the app is much, much better. I installed the Philips air purifier app and that walked me through everything step-by-step. As far as smart devices go, it was one of the simplest setups I’ve been through. A quick word about the app, it’s actually pretty cool. You can control your device and access all of the settings as well as set up timers, schedules and connect it to voice control via Alexa and Siri. You can also see historical graphs of your air quality, along with the current weather and air quality index and allergy risk. It’s all pretty neat and as you would expect from a smart home device.

As for the unit itself, it is quite big, but it looks aesthetically pleasing enough whilst also being fairly unobtrusive and easy to fit into an out of the way corner. Despite its size it doesn’t weigh much at all, so moving it around is not really a big deal. The screen on top is a nice, modern touch and I like the ring that changes colour depending on air quality. All the buttons are touch sensitive and responsive. It has 3 speed modes, as well as an auto mode which ramps up or down depending on the air quality and a sleep mode which runs very, very slow and turns off all the lights. You can also turn the lights off manually if you wish via the app or the touch button on top of the unit. The unit is pretty quiet generally. In Auto mode I think it is no louder than your average PC, though obviously at the very high settings it does make a bit more noise. The sleep mode is impressively quiet and I had to literally put my head next to it to hear it working. Overall though I would say I have heard more noise from my PC or laptop than I have this air purifier.

So did it actually help with my issues? I don’t think I’ve had it long enough to see any health boosts in the longer term, but whether or not it’s a placebo, my eyes have been noticeably less itchy and the persistent headache I’ve had for just about the last month has gone completely. Like I say, maybe that’s placebo, but it does seem to have had a positive effect on my hay-fever. The dust issue also seems better, I normally have to dust every other day minimum, but the buildup seems far less. My cat has amazingly soft, fine hair which is beautiful on her but a pain when she sheds it everywhere. I have still noticed some around, but once again the air purifier seems to be picking up a good deal. Overall I’m pretty happy and have to say, a little surprised.

So really that is about that. I think much more use and monitoring is needed to see how this pans out in the long term, but my short term impressions are very good. As I say, I went into this a little bit sceptical, but have so far been pleasantly surprised and think that it has made quite a positive difference. The actual unit itself looks nice enough and is simple to use with a pretty good accompanying app. My biggest gripe is honestly the instructions, and once you have this set up and have figured out what the buttons do, which is actually very simple, they are forgotten about anyway. Other than that, I can find very little to criticise it for. The sleep mode is especially good, but all round I think it’s really solid device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very simple to use with a well made app and seemingly quite effective!

This air purifier works with or without an app and WIFI. For me, I’d rather just plug something in and have it just work, so that’s what I did when this arrived. Hubby, on the other hand, likes to mess around connecting things to his phone, so that’s what he did when he got home.

I found that plugging it in and pressing the play button made it just work, so if you don’t have a smart phone or don’t want to use it then this will still work. It is really super quiet, you have to get up close and personal to hear it at all. It lets out an ever so slight cool breeze that you can feel when you are close enough but it will never replace your fan in the heat.

Hubby found the app really easy to use on his phone, there were absolutely no issues whatsoever, which is a first for all the items we’ve ever had to connect to a phone; it was done in a few minutes. The app does allow you to do more with the device, such as set a timer for when you want it to come on and go off. Hubby said that it suggested a 4 hour period, so he set for 6pm – 10pm daily, so it will be working shortly before we settle down in the lounge for the evening and all the time we are sat in there. We decided to put it in the lounge in front of all the ugly wires for the TV and stereo that seem to be creeping further out from behind the TV and into the middle of the room; it blocks them from view nicely.

This device is quite large, so you do need enough room for it, but it looks stylish, so you should be able to find somewhere for it to go where it fits with your dcor. It is quite light, so you can move it around easily enough if you want to. I was thinking of putting it in the hall where it would be central but hubby wants it in the lounge, so that’s where it’s gone. At least it looks nice enough to be in my lounge, if it didn’t we’d be fighting about it.

It seems well constructed and Phillips is a well known brand, so I’m happy that it will stand the test of time. It is easy enough to pull it apart for cleaning and swapping the filters and with it being from a well known brand, I would think that the replacement filter should be easy to get hold of, but I haven’t checked.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAs an asthma and allergy suffered this time of year is brutal. I like to have the windows open to air the house but it just invites pollen in so I use an air purifier, especially in the bedroom to stop me waking up stuffy.
First impressions were this is big! Can see it in comparison to my sofa. That said, it means it has a large filter so collects more particles from the air.
Quick and easy to set up as you just need to unwrap the filter and plug it in. I’ve not got mine connected to wifi yet as my fibre cable was cut today meaning no wifi until Friday. I’ll update once I’m using the app. The instructions are vague pictures but you get the jist of what needs done.
The device is genuinely whisper quiet on the lowest setting. My existing model sounds like a fan is on but this one you can barely hear. I leave it on auto mode as it alters the speed depending on what particles it’s picking up. If the air quality is good it’ll stay low and if the air quality deteriorates it’ll increase.
Screen gives clear indications of air quality and allergens. Used it downstairs to start before switching it out with the one in my bedroom as this is quiet enough not to disturb my sleep and stops me waking up with a stuffy nose.
Put it in the livingroom as the wifi engineer was coming. With him walking in and out the door the pm2.5 shot up to 30 and the fan increased. It’s dropped down to 16 within 5 minutes as it clears the air. A brilliant and intuitive bit of kit.

Brilliant for my allergies and asthma

It arrived quicker than we expected and well packaged. It’s very easy to use and appears to clear the air as it’s supposed to do. Our little grandson likes to have it switched on whenever he visits as he likes the pretty coloured lights.

Initially, I bought this in an attempt to deal with a lingering smell of damp which was the result of a slow leak from my upstairs neighbour. It worked for that and then I just kept using it in the bedroom to improve the air purity there. I can state unequivocally that my sleep quality has improved. Very, very pleased with this item, would recommend

I bought this purifier for my clinic room, and have had it running daily for the last two months. I primarily bought it for the HEPA filter, as I’m hoping it’ll offer a little protection against viruses for myself and my clients. The purifier is mostly very quiet, functioning around the 1-2 setting. Occasionally it’ll pick up something in the atmosphere and speed up. Its mostly very unobtrusive. I’m very happy with my purchase, and would recommend this purifier.

Easily connects to WIFI and operates on smartphone. Very easy to use and you have the option to choose to use your phone or manually. Looks good and colour blends in giving a very pleasing aesthetic appearance. Filters need replacing after a few months and can be ordered from Philips online store, follow instructions in the manual supplied. I very highly recommend this product. I’m glad that I researched the subject properly and made the right choice.

The best, most easy to use air purifier I have owned. I have had several in my home over the years of different brands. This machine is top notch and you can actually tell the difference when you walk into the room how clean the air is. I really like the app and alerts. I can control it from anywhere in the house. I like this machine and breathe easier because of it. It’s quiet mode and dim light setting is nice for nighttime.

I’ve had asthma since I was 16 (late 30s now). I get seasonal tight chest at night, difficulty sleeping on one side, mid-sleep wheezing.. Any sufferer knows what I am talking about.

I won’t say this machine cured my asthma but I have extremely clean lungs for the first time in decades after running this night and day in my bedroom. Absolutely love it, and it seems to knock me out cold at night due to the pure air in the room.

Runs as loud or quiet as you wish. Lots of great modes depending on what your needs are.

It’s a great air purifier and I breathe and sleep better since I bought it. I stopped using antihistamines. I highly recommend it. The only thing I am disappointed about is that it doesn’t eliminate smells. Or not fast enough. However, better with it than without as it truly is making the air I breathe much better.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve read complains on how noisy this air purifier is, but having grown up with a Honeywell high capacity air purifier, this one is really quiet in comparison. Noise is something that is relative and I just don’t trust a quiet air purifier. This is brilliant as it has a sensor which can auto adjust itself. I am allergic to dust so this really helped me when I moved to a new apartment just by the road which has a lot more dust than my previous place. Highly recommended

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCall it placebo effect, but since we’ve installed this in our small flat, everyone felt the difference especially in sleep quality.
Waking up in the morning without headache and sneezing is definitely worth the price paid.
We also cleaned and dusted up the entire flat for a week to make sure all deposited dust and dirt was removed. This will help for the future and the air purifier to kill dust mites and bacteria in the air.
If you think its a hokum, your are wrong. 😉
This purifier is perfect for flats or rooms up to 79 Square meter and if you have smokers, pets or an incredibly cluttered apartment.

I’ve had this air purifier for 2 months, just in time for the allergy season which my family suffer from. I was expecting good results from a company like Philips, and it’s exceeded these expectations. Very easy to use, adding it onto my Wifi took a little longer to setup but once setup, you can now control the device with an app and Alexa.

Performance is fantastic, the sensor activated the fan speed of it detects bad air quality and the bedroom feels a lot fresher at night time and helping to keep hay fever to minimum.

Highly recommend this product – we’ve been using it every night and would go without it.

We have been constantly sneezing, running eyes and generally uncomfortable. So we decided to buy an air “cleaner”. When turned on it responded by going flat out, quite intrusive, but in a short time it settled into a rhythm and only launched it max mode in response to our dog shaking himself nearby.
It’s hard to quantify the exact effect it has, it’s certainly removed the pollen and dust (a black glass table doesn’t get dusty so quickly) the astounding thing is the rapid removal of cooking odours, it cleared a fried fish smell, cooked on the hob, in about 10 minutes something that can take literally days to go away.
If you suffer from cooking smells, a damp dog I recommend this appliance

I have suffered for years with hay fever and my wife has now started to suffer as swell.
At the height of the grass pollen season we were trapped in the house but even there we still suffered. We decided to give this filter a go. We are so pleased we did. This creates a refuge in the house. We are able to go out in the garden or for walks where we live in the country and as we start to suffer are able to return to the house and pollen free environment.
We were so pleased with this we bought another one which we keep in the bedroom.
We only use this during the pollen season so have not had to replace filters yet.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a well made and simple to use air filter which responds quickly when it encounters a wave of pollen from an open window or the effect of someone frying bacon down in the kitchen. It’s sensitive and the colour settings denote information about the level of particles it’s dealing with. It automatically ramps up the filtration level when the sensor detects pollutants and you can select for a general level or enhanced micro filtration for allergens and even germs. Not at all noisy at four or below but it picks up for short periods and may become audible. There’s a setting for night time which keeps the light off and levels down. I’m very pleased with this purifier and though it’s not cheap, I’m considering another for the kitchen.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI love this! Have it in my bedroom. It’s smart, with a small footprint. I run it at night (it’s practically silent on night mode) and when tidying my room or changing the bedding – as this brings on a runny nose and sneezing due to a dust allergy.

Been using it for a few weeks now. I have one in my lounge too. I think these must be working as when I’m out and about or at other houses, my hay fever symptoms are worse than when at home. Also, they make the air feel kind of crisp and clean – can’t say how and why but it does, which is a nice experience for home.

    Fully recommend!
