Great portable shaver works very well for me , I do prefer a wet shave but haven’t always got the time, this will do the job , quick and easy to use and clean . One criticism is no case , this in my opinion let’s this great little shaver down , other then that very pleased with purchase .
I have had one of these for many years and it finally conked out. I had no hesitation in buying another and I wasn’t disappointed. This is an excellent travel razor, though I usually wet shave, and if it gives the same sterling service as it’s predecessor I won’t be disappointed.
I have PCOS and have to shave under my chin and chest area every day. This is perfect for keeping in my handbag if I was in a rush and forgot to shave. It’s very good and a lot better than some of the shavers I have.
Had three of these over many years and they are reliable, easy to clean and very handy being battery powered. I only wish the razor had a flipper for sideburns (as per other razors I’ve had)
Purchased for short business trips and holidays.
Philishave heads seem a bit slow compared to a foil razor but this little shaver is pretty good at providing a close shave.
I wouldn’t be too confident about the advertised 60 minutes battery life if I was trying to shave off a couple of days growth, but it works fine for me keeping things neat and tidy.
Comes with a clip on lid for the heads but would be much improved if supplied with a case or pouch as the clip comes off very easily.
I bought this to replace its predecessor, which had lasted for nearly eight years, so I know what to expect. It’s light weight, easy to use and easy to clean. I use rechargeable batteries and it gives good service, though I only need to shave every other day. Because I’ve used a similar model, I know it will stay sharp for its lifetime.
i admit i was sceptical when i ordered, however i was proved so wrong, this is a little gem. the battery life is good when not over used, i got a very smooth close shave. admittedly i dont have to shave every day like some however it worked for me. the design is well thought through and ergonomically well shaped to feel comfortable in the hand . neat little produc
This was the first electric razor I’ve bought in many years. The price of blades for manual razors is just getting crazy, and needing to shave every week makes things expensive. When you consider picking up a razor for under twenty-quid. Great value and it does a really good job.
It just takes 2x AA batteries to bring life to the razor. Highly recommended and no more needing to buy shaving cream / foam either. 10/10 for value for money as Amazon didn’t consider giving that option.
I have always used electric shavers since started shaving and have always bought Philips products simply because they have always been reliable, effective and comfortable to use. This PQ206 battery shaver is simply a back up for when I urgently have to leave home for a day or two. It is beautifully compact, simple and comfortable to use and surprisingly effective for its size. Battery life is good, 2 x AA’s, that are so readily available. I also understand this compact Philips razor is a popular choice for some women who find it very effective for facial hair. I have two other Philips cordless shavers for everyday use and having been shaving now for some 48 years would not choose any other brand.
Top cap that fits over rotating blades so loose, does not stay on, also, they provided a small cleaning brush but could not even include a little soft cloth case to keep shaver and the brush in!
I bought the Braun travel shaver then realized my mistake and purchased this. Out of the 2 shavers I found this to be the better shaver by far. for build quality not so much, the Braun wins that one hand’s down. but for shaving yes, this one is the best.
The cover for the rota head keeps falling off and the battery cover was stupid and fiddly, but looking past that it’s a better shave, and that’s what matters.
Having thought for a while about reverting to an electric shaver from a wet blade, I experimented with a Braun dry foil and was disappointed with the results. In fact it reminded me why I went back to razor blades: irritated skin and an unsatisfactory shave, especially on the neck area. I had abandoned the Braun some years ago for a Panasonic wet and dry foil electric shaver. That lasted me well for years but it seemed to combine all the faff of a wet shave but still with (some of) the irritation of an electric razor. And it was heavy and it broke. Hence my going back to razor blades. This time I was determined to persist.
After reading loads of reviews, it is clear that there is no one electric razor for everybody. So, I thought I would dip a toe in the rotary blade shaver market by buying this cheap little thing. Having used it for over three months I wonder why I’ve been bothering with sharp bladed razors all these years, let alone other electric razors. Using a well known high street chemist’s own brand pre-electric shave lotion (the cheapest AND the best) and this little razor provides (a) possibly the least expensive shaving I’ve had in years and (b) a perfectly acceptable finish (see photo). Admittedly I don’t have to shave my lip and chin and it probably wouldn’t do for being in an office late in the day, but you could use it twice in a day to refresh with no ill effects, ie no ingrown hairs, cuts or rashes. You could even keep one in the workplace for a quick freshen up when required. I certainly wouldn’t bother buying anything more expensive and have actually bought another one of these as back up for holidays, travel, etc.
The two main disadvantages are that it only uses batteries – but see below – rather than mains, and can’t be cleaned under a tap. Just buy a compressed air cleaner for computer keyboards for that and brush out regularly.
As far as the power source goes, as it uses two AA batteries, these are available pretty much anywhere and it’s no problem to carry a spare pair. They seem to last a decent amount of time anyway and you could go for rechargeable ones if you wanted to be ecologically sound, or at least recycle the old ones. I did also buy the similar sized Remington which is mains chargeable (NOT mains usable tho). It is just as convenient size-wise but isn’t as good a shave to be fair. It seems to prefer a pre-shave oil to the lotion, who knows why? So, it can be the backup to the backup, or slipped into a travel bag with a continental or similar shaving adaptor if required.
For less than the price of one fancy all-singing, washable rotary shaver which, by many accounts, are just not as good as the older Philips ones, I have a conveniently sized set of three for all occasions. I’m considering snapping up the Philips ones any time I’m in that high street chemist’s shop as they seem to have very limited stock They’re a bargain.
At the time I wasn’t sure if I could take a regular razor on a flight since I was only taking hand luggage so I decided to buy this razor as a backup. It works well and it is very quiet but my only issue is that the motor doesn’t run so quickly. I wasn’t sure at first if this was a problem or that was how it is. I decided it is simply a relatively slow razor but it does work very well. However, I am so used to using a wet razor that it needs a little time to get used to but since I only wanted it for a short overseas trip I don’t think I used it enough to say I was used to it. As a backup it is fine and came in useful when I did need a quick shave otherwise I would still prefer a wet shave or, if I was to use such a razor regularly then I would buy something more powerful. However, for a short trip and as a backup it was quite ok. The material in the body is such that holding it can be a challenge as it wasn’t rough enough to stop it, at times, from sliding out of my fingers with the inevitable bit of juggling to stop it falling. A little improvement in the design to make it easier to hold would be appreciated. Otherwise it is good value for what it is.
