We loved this game. Easy to set up & quick to play once you’ve figured out the simple rules. So many different strategies, it’s quickly become a favourite. A great challenge & fine to play as a 2 player as well.
I played this game with friends, and then purchased it for our family. Good game for 2-4 players. My children (13 & 10) enjoy playing this too. Package arrived in tidy/good condition, on-time.
Interesting strategy game, played with 7 year old and 78 year old with varied ages in between. Good fun and not too long to play. It helped having a spare person interpreting the rules at first.
Fun game for the two of us, and works well with more people. Bit of strategy, bit of luck, very aesthetically pleasing! All elements feel well made, especially the tiles. Highly recommend.
2-4 players this is a lovely colourful and artful game that can last 10 mins or 30! But we’d say normally 20 it’s clever and fast paced as very little time between goes – easy to pick up for new players – our new favourite
Only played this once, and honestly I was baffled by the instructions, but once I got going it became so clear and so easy to understand. Me and partner had fun and will definitely reply a lot. 🙂
Discovered the game and added it to my collection. It is relatively short and very easy to pick up the rules. The scoring does take a bit to get used to but then it’s ‘natural’. My only comment is that while it is advertised for 2-4 players, we found that actually three is the best number of players. With two players it is too predictable, while with 4 it’s much harder to do any planning.
I was looking for a two-player game to play with my partner.
We must have played this at least a hundred times by now. It’s always the same but we don’t get bored.
First game was a bit confusing, but the rules are simple and easily memorised, subsequently it’s a breeze to play.
Feels quite skilful, but we’re winning about 50:50 each – maybe we’re just closely matched, but I think also there’s just enough randomness to help balance things out. Helps keep it fun.
Nicely designed and packaged.
This game is great, it is easy to learn and understand. It is different every time you play and there is a lot of strategy involved to win. The board and pieces are beautifully made. You won’t regret buying this it.
Quickly became family favourite. Quick set up, easy to pick up and gameplay makes you want to replay again and again.
Very simple game but with very nice mechanics that offers great replaybility. It is fairly easy to set up and it is perfect for two to four people that want to play something quick and simple.
I purchased this game on the basis of having recently played the original version (which is excellent!). This subsequent version is also very enjoyable. There is a lot of strategy involved, and both versions are quite addictive. The game, however, is not suitable for young children.
Azul is a well-designed and enjoyable board game that is perfect for families and groups of friends. The game is easy to learn, but offers a surprising amount of depth and strategy. The game components are high quality, with beautiful tiles and a sturdy game board.
The game mechanics are well thought out and each turn presents new challenges and opportunities for players to score points. The game play is fast-paced and exciting, with players making decisions about which tiles to place, which patterns to complete, and which penalties to incur.
One of the things that I appreciate about Azul is that it is a game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The rules are simple enough for kids to understand, but the strategy is complex enough to keep adults engaged. The game is also moderately replayable, with different strategies to try.
Overall, I would give Azul a 4-star rating. It’s a well-designed and enjoyable game that is perfect for families and groups of friends. The game components are high quality and the game play is fast-paced and exciting. If you’re looking for a new board game to add to your collection, I would definitely recommend giving Azul a try.
Highly original game once you get into it. Playing instructions included are not great. On line videos are better. Good game for 2 but also for more. You think it’s simple but then strategy comes into play.
Great game – would recommend. We have taught this game to many people all who have enjoyed it.
If you like Azul you’ll enjoy this version, plays very similar but with a lot more strategy and totally different shapes but gives you a lot more options to score points, unlike the original Azul this version is a lot harder to stop your opponents from scoring, really well made and very tactile,a great game
Great quality, fantastic game and a brilliant addition to our collection of games.
Got it as a gift they were happy with it. But for the price I’m disappointed for 4 boards and some plastic covers. Didn’t have problem.with the coveres they worked well enough as seen in other reviews
A very good addition to the Azul family of games. In my opinion, this is the best of the series so far – equal to the original. The game play is similar to the original, but is different enough to make it feel like a separate game. Great components.
I have played some of the other Azul games before and decided to try this one. It is simpler than the others, but no less fun as a result.
I’m an azul fan, this for me uses enough strategies to make azul slightly more thinky. I didn’t know that’s what I was after, but it turns out to be my favourite one so far.
If you like azul then u may as well try it for 20 ish quid. Very happy customer here.
Really nice, tactile game. I’ve only played it with 2, though I’ve also tried a fan made solo variant on board game geek. This is one we keep coming back to because it’s complex but not too taxing, it’s a pleasure to handle the tiles and doesn’t take long to setup.
I can find scoring tedious in other games, but it’s really simple here. I bought this for myself, but I’d consider giving it as a gift for someone not heavily into board games, because it’s quick to learn, but very different from your typical roll-and-move family games.
All in all, I don’t think you’ll regret buying this!
Was recommended this game by a friend, the box and contents are well made, all makes sense. Seems confusing at the very beginning but is soon easy to play. Just not for me. I like Catan, 7 Wonders, cards, Awful Green Things from Outer Space (a wide variety of games) but this one did not appeal to me. It is basically almost a puzzle game against others also trying to play against you – I just didn’t like it personally.
I have to admit I was attracted to this board game by its fascinating appearance. The beautiful colourful presentation is reminiscent of Andalusia. The tiles are of high quality plastic and thick card board pieces are sturdy as well.
The game play it self is interesting and refreshing in that it is a little bitt different than most family board games. So it takes a small amount go time to get a hang of Azul. It’s all about collecting sequences of coloured stones on a player’s board. Yet, while it has a different twist to it, it is easy enough for young children to learn. Is it as exciting and tactical as some of our other favourite family board games like Ticket to Ride or Catan? – not quite. However it is a very welcome variation to the selection of board games we try to play with our children on a frequent basis – one of the few things they very much appreciate to do and that actually triggers them to leave their electronic devices for a while.
Okay..this has so many positives – fun gameplay with a mix of strategy and luck. The game is not too long to become boring which is a plus.
I have only played this as a two person play and it works well. I would imagine it would be even more challenging with the maximum 4 players.
Aesthetically pleasing, the game is beautiful and all pieces are very well made.
The only downside – the rules of play that come with the game are somewhat confusing (that may have been me being thick!)
We had to do a couple of YouTube stints to get our head around the rules, however once we got it we found the game easy to understand.
Would highly recommend.
This game is currently my favourite game to play.
There are layers and layers to the strategy that can be applied to win this game. It’s visually stunning and all the components are of a high quality. A great cross generational game, and will appeal to people who enjoy backgammon, Ingenious, etc.
Azul Summer Pavillion offers the simplicity of the original, so great for new players, but it also allows for players to develop strategies further and get a bit more out of the game going forward than with the original. If you were to buy just one version, this would be a great choice.
The components are lovely and the instructions easy to follow – supplement them with a Youtube video if you get stuck (there are plenty) and you get can get straight in to some great games.
It’s a relaxing game to play – very enjoyable addition to our gaming collection.
Arrived next day and we couldnt wait to play it. Although initially one item was missing from the sealed box this was a manufacturer’s oversight and not the fault of the seller. The seller swiftly dealt with the issue when contacted and sent out the item we were missing so we are delighted! We played this game with a mix of adults and children (aged 10+) but I think 8 years+ would be able to get the hang of it. The tiles in the game are nice and tactile and the game is played in rounds which take about 10 minutes at a time and so you dont get bored or distracted – each players turn doesnt take long and so everyone who places is able to be engaged with the process. Whilst you do need to consider what you will do for your turn and watch what others are doing you do not have to concentrate too intensly and so can sill hold a conversation with each other. We love this game!
This is know one of my favourite games to play with friends. I’ve played it with both 2 and 3 players and enjoyed it both times – more game pieces are in play so it’s not like your resources are limited.
Easy to learn but I found the instructions a little convoluted- skim the instructions and dive straight i
Love this game, easy to learn and a game lasts around 40 mins max. Tactical and addictive this game suits players from 10 – 100. U fortunately my game boards seemed to be warped out of shape. At this price tag, it was a little disappointing.
Having played and enjoy original Azul this version has more elements to it. Whilst not difficult to pick up (after one game you know what’s going on) there aren’t lots more options in choosing and placing tiles to gain points, which means it’s not as easy to read your opponents strategy! A great game can be played in 30 – 60 minutes never sure who is winning until the final count!
We ordered this product blind on the strength of online review and were very pleased we did. It proved to be a good game that worked well with 2 players which is important for us. The game is reasonably quick to learn but there is plenty of scope for developing winning strategies. The tile and board are well made and look to be durable.
Great game, easy to get others into playing, even kids – the first quick round of each game lets you learn the rules without too much risk so you don’t need to play a full practice game before starting to play for real. Good for two or more players and I even found some unnoficial single player rules online (haven’t tried that yet though).
Resin tiles in the canvas bag are so tactile and are a part of what makes it a great game, the only thing letting presentation down is the play boards are warped (all 4 corners curving up) and spin around with the slightest touch causing tiles to slide out of position. I just keep a blob of blutack in the box now to sort that out.
This is probably the best entry level (in terms of complexity) game that you can play with the widest range of players!
The rules are few and simple and can be taught in less than 5 minutes. The gameplay itself can be played in less than 40 minutes.
The components are high quality and will stand more than 100 replays.
In the short time that we’ve gotten it, we have played it over 20 times. Often 3 games back-to-back-to-back.
It is definitely more expensive than many of the other highly rated games out there: Pandemic, Codenames, Sushi Go, etc.. However, if you already have those titles (you probably do), this is a must-have. If not, take a look at those titles if the 35+ sticker price puts you off.
This is a great game for game nerds and families alike. I brought a copy to share with family over Christmas and it has been an instant hit. Simple rules easily picked up, beautiful pieces, very tactile as you shake up and layout tiles from the supply bag for the next round of the game.
Looking to buy more copies but it looks like it has sold out in the UK at this time (Boxing Day 2017). There are always more strategies to try; this game has the classic pattern of ‘easy to learn; hard to master’, of an excellent game. To top that the games are about 45 minutes long and are usually hard fought to the end.
I highly recommend this as a game to add to anyone’s game collection, it has broad appeal able to entertain those used to complex and detailed games, as well as those who only play the odd game at Christmas or New Year.
