Scalp Shampoo has truly been a game-changer for me! After just a few uses, (2-3 uses) I noticed a significant improvement in my scalp health. It’s gentle yet effective, leaving my hair feeling clean, refreshed, and free from any irritation. Definitely a must-have in my hair care routine.
I bought this and combined it with a silicone head massager to gently work it in. It recommends using twice a week, but that has been enough for me to near clear everything. Obviously it smells of tar, but honestly it’s not to bad. Definitely worth it for the results.
I’ve been using for around 2 months now (same bottle).
It has completely cleared up my scalp which is amazing, I’m just hoping that my scalp doesn’t become used to it as products then stop working (welcome to the last 7/8 years of my life!).
To help with this, I’m only using once every 7-10 days, using my regular shampoo inbetween.
The smell is clinical, but that’s to be expected with a medicated shampoo, I actually like it though.
The only thing that settles my scalp. So much better than T gel or head and shoulders and gives a really nice light feeling and glossy shine to my hair. I quite like the smell too.
I always use Polytar Scalp Tar Shampoo, its great but recently discovered that Royal Mail Dangerous Goods Support Team deem Polytar Scalp Tar Shampoo as dangerous goods which they opened and searched for safety reasons, according to their list of prohibited goods, as a parcel that had been posted using Royal Mail Postal Services. Be warned, Polytar Shampoo, even though declared on the packaging as SHAMPOO according to Royal Mail Postal Services list as prohibited goods are dangerous goods and will be be searched. OUCH !!!
I had a persistently itchy scalp and had tried various dandruff shampoos but this is the only one that really seems to work for me. I only need to wash my hair once a week with it, and can skip a few weeks in between treatments.
After years of itchy scalp this was revelation, wash first with mild do not scratch, then wash with this so you get lather, then leave on for as long as you can, shower limited time uses up hot water as goes cold. bowl better time
Tried so many product but this one really works. I sent it to my son who is in uni and when he came back home i checked his hair scalp and it is now looking clean and healthy. He suffered from dried and itchy scalp. He also used ginger hair oil along with it after shampoo.
I loved this shampoo, was recommended by my Mum. My scalp felt clean and itch free. The smell didn’t phase me and shampoo is a nice texture and lathers up beautifully. Really does what it promotes
If there is snow around you all the time, and you’re tired of shaking those pesky snowflakes off your shoulders, then this will certainly stop you becoming a snowman (or woman). The shampoo works a treat. I use it once a fortnight and have no problems with flakey scalp or dandruff. It more expensive than other brands, but it works. I realise that some won’t like the coal tar smell, but it doesn’t linger long.
I have a small patch of very dry itchy skin at the base of my scalp. I bought this to see if it can help. Only used it a couple of times so fingers crossed .
I am not a doctor, but you can’t get to see one at the practice I’m registered with so I used Dr Google and found this. It took 2 weeks daily use to sort my problem but it came back a month later.
So now I use this twice a week letting it stay on my scalp for 5 mins before washing out and I am ‘cured’
Just started using this product and can see great improvement to my scalp already
Brought for my partner who has a build up of eczema/psoriasis in his hair. He uses as instructed on the bottle and so far most of the flaky skin has gone.
Easy to use and have seen some improvement on my sore scalp.
Did not help my husband’s problem. Worth a try regardless.
Omg total game changer got this for my 18 year old son. Who is on meds for a hernia, they are giving him acne and dermatitis bad on his sculp. Used about four times and it’s neatly gone. Would highly recommend this product. X
my scalp psoriasis cleared up significantly after the second or third use
Took a few washes to see a difference and what a difference it is! No more flaky dry scalp. Hair looks healthy and shiny & scalp looks clean and healthy too. 100% would recommend. Also does have a slight smell but that only lasts a few hours at most.
My scalp has been bad for a while now with stress induced psoriasis. One week (2 washes) of using this and my scalp was clear. I’m on my second bottle and my scalp is spot on! No more painful scabs and no fear of going to the hairdresser and feeling dirty! Thank you!
Having suffered with scalp psoriasis for some time I have used various products on and off. This has been the most effective to get the condition under control without too much of the awful smell that this type of product usually gives.
I seen. Difference in my scalp after one wash. I had thick plaque build up due to psrosis and was dreading having to resort to olive oil but this did help.
I bought this product as a replacement for my usual medicated shampoo which has been discontinued (Alphosyl). I suffer from scalp psoriasis and find it difficult to get products that are reliable in keeping the symptoms at bay.
Polytar similar to a lot of coal tar based products has a strong scent – due to using these type of products for a long time, I am used to this smell but some people may find it unpleasant.
In terms of treating my symptoms, it does keep redness of my scalp at bay but I still find a lot of dandruff/loose scaling when using this product. I would say that this is less effective than the product I was using (Alphosyl).
Polytar is slightly more affordable than other shampoos I have used for the sized bottle you receive. Overall it is reasonable value for money but not a perfect solution for my needs.
Not as good as Alphosil but a close second. Takes about a week to work.
This smells good. But what doesn’t when it has a coal tar fragrance. The bottle itself is quite small, but a little does seem to go a long way. I like this but personally found it a little expensive for what it is. It is so close to Vosene, which I can still buy for 99p, I think I will go back to Vosene. However, it was worth trying, and if you don’t mind paying for it, it does work quite well as a dandruf shampoo, and it does smell good.
I have used this product for over 3 months but the result is good but not enough as I was expecting.
Less is more with this stuff BUT it does the job – clears up dandruff and that annoying itching – helps with the skin on my face too. Just a word of warning – it is very soapy and seems to leave a slippery residue in the shower cubicle – you will need to carefully flush this away OR slip and break something
