Simple instructions, easy to play, and huge amounts of laughter from our entire grouo. We ended up reading our ‘ransom note’ creations out loud to each other like we were performing in a play. Can’t wait to play this again. I predict this being an entertaining Christmas staple this year!
This is a great party game to play with friends or family. Loses one star as the lip on the ‘boards’ makes it really annoying to remove the words, and the word pieces themselves can be quite fiddly to pick up.
Some of the questions are very adult – hence the age rating – but easy enough to remove those and play with younger kids as some of the questions are very innocent. Have had a lot of fun playing as a group of 2, 3 and 4.
Such a simple idea but with a clever selection of magnet words. It says 3+ players, but we played with two of us and have not laughed so much in ages. While you might want to edit the large word bank for younger players, you can moderate your answers easily enough in terms of adult humour and innuendo. As there is no spelling and grammar goes out of the window with the word limitations, it is great for people with dyslexia or just not as confident with their spelling. The playing boards a bit flimsy and irritating how the words catch in the edge, but otherwise awesome. Will play it a lot.
We love word games and bought this for summer hols and general socialising. The fiddly bit was separating all the bazillions of magnetic words but the effort was worth it. The simple premise of using a limited selection of the words to respond to the challenge on the card is very effective and everyone who has played it with us has loved it. Lots of laughs to be had!
Not one for small children without editing the cards but my adult family all enjoyed this immensely. Some of the prompts based around sex perhaps not what my children wanted to hear on their holiday but we had lots of laughs.
The age on the box says 17+ and I agree that this is right.
Me and my partner love this game we often have friends over and it’s soo fun. The set up may take a good few minutes but once everyone is set you can have a real good laugh! The game is simple enough to understand and is nicely put together.
Great fun game. Silly and clever at same time. Played with teenagers and everyone had a laugh. Tiles are quite fiddly but it’s easy to play and tweak rules to suit your audience.
This game is great!! So Funny! However, there are words and phrases that I feel are not appropriate for the littles (I have an 11 & 12 year old). I would say this is more of an adult game.
I had never heard of this game but I came across it online. It’s great, easy to play and lots of fun. You need at least 4 players for it to really work and the more players the better, I believe the max is 6 players just because there are only 6 magnetic boards that are included. The boards are given out to players to organize their Random Notes on.
This is a great game. With that said, I believe it’s more fun if you play with people with great sense of humors. It takes a little while to get going but then your mind starts thinking in randsom note sentences, you’re good to go. Had a ton of laughs. It’s also very easy to learn . The hardest part was separating all the pieces.
We anticipated this game being a barrel of laughs, but it turned out to be much harder to play than we thought. The game is easy to understand, but it is extremely difficult to articulate with the words you have in front of you what the card asks you to say.
One of my relatives said that you end up sounding like a cave man trying to explain something.
It is a lot of fun, and the more the merrier!!!
This game was fun! Easy to play with endless possibilities. stress free and lots of laughs. We didn’t set a timer and we didn’t really judge or keep score it was just fun to read the silly answers.
There are a few wild cards in this, but we skip the ones we don’t want to do. It is such a blast to play this game with any group of friends. There are always one or two that are hesitant to play because you have to be creative, but they always end up loving it by the end!
We played the game as family. Rules are very loose so if you are competitive you won’t want this game. It’s truly for fun and not definitive to have a clear winner.
We LOVE this game! There are not a million rules to memorize, it’s always different and funny, and brings out the hilarious genius in even the least creative people. Somehow, it gets funnier and funnier the more you think about each answer. You can easily make it age-appropriate. Absolutely worth the price and set-up time!
My sister and I (both in our 50’s) gave this game a try. I was skeptical at first but after a few rounds we were hysterically laughing at our responses! The question cards were clever & funny as well and at some rounds we found ourselves laughing so hard just crafting our answers never mind trying to read them aloud! One suggestion is to make sure you really mix up the word magnets or your chosen selection will leave you less than interested. There are some questions and word magnets that are not appropriate for younger kids but those could easily be kept separate when first setting up the game. All in all it was a fun game and we will play it again.
We played this when all the family came home for Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit! Hilarious!! It can be anything you want it to be – super appropriate to NOT, depending on your group’s personalities. Definitely a great find on Amazon!
This game is super fun, very similar to CAH except you write your own responses with whatever words you have to work with. We play with a soft time limit so that everyone can write their best responses. If you’ve got a funny group of friends this game will get you a lot of laughs and doesn’t suffer from the issue of some cards just being genuinely better than others. There a lot of longevity here because you’ll never get the same response twice. Solid game.
I bought this and the expansion pack, hoping our game night group would like it. Although there was some laughter when we gave it a try, they didn’t really take to it like I hoped. We like games that we can play while conversing, and this tended to require individual focus to play. So I got a thumbs down from most of them after we played it. Unfortunately, by the time I knew it was not well-received, it was too late to return it and the expansion pack, so I’m stuck with a game that may never get played again.
So if you are considering buying this, I suggest not gifting it unless you know that the person receiving is fond of this type of game. Also, I did remove some of the cards before we played because they were inappropriate for a mixed group of adults, and certainly not appropriate for kids, in my opinion.
This game takes a few minutes to set up, but once you’ve set it up, it’s a lot of fun. My family and I have laughed so much with this game!
We really like this game. There are quite a few prompt cards that are sexual and on other mature topics. We just took those cards and a few magnets out of the mix. Worked great to play with kids after that.
I’ve played it twice, now. It’s fun to see who is imaginative and who is a literalist, who randomly spreads out their words and who organizes them by parts of speech. We made up some rules (time per turn, how to select the best), because it’s pretty freewheeling. Works for two, but probably better for more. Fun game.
We bought this game for my sister-in-law and her family for Christmas! Immediately we played the game and fell in love. It’s so fun to make up the answers with the words you have on you. Definitely worth the money and then some!
Bought for my 15 year old. I knew I’d have to take a few cards out as it’s for 17+ but there weren’t many. It doesn’t need to be rude to be a great game for adults too. (Will probably give them back to her next year.) Guaranteed laughs with every card when people play. Couldn’t recommend it more.
Only downside is the box could be bigger. Once you’ve broken up the magnetic tiles, they become quite bulky. I chose to try & bag them to avoid losing any but they won’t fit in in a bag with the cards & magnetic plates.
This game is a lot of fun! Taking along on vacation, parties, etc. You do have to spend some time separating all the word magnets. I suggest doing in advance, not while everyone is waiting to play. Highly recommend!
A friend told us about this game, as they loved it. We’ve now played it twice with friends/company and had a blast, lots of laughs. We don’t bother with the timer. Sometimes the game can drag but it always comes back to being fun. Highly recommend.
4/5 stars for how long it takes to set up, but 5/5 for the laughs you get when you play it. My family loves this game, we just take forever to set up our magnets.
Lots of fun. Only downside is taking the time beforehand to arrange the magnets and searching for words during the game. Perhaps the difficulty finding words is by design to spruce things up and influence your choices via speed. I can’t think of a solution for that, so 5 stars anyway because it’s gobs of fun. Well worth it.
I’m a pediatric speech-language pathologist. I had to spend about an hour pulling out dozens of inappropriate words before using this with my kids to create phrases and sentences. But it does come with SO MANY words that you’ll still have lots to play with. My teens especially love using it to put thoughts to words, we then can carry it it out to sentence-writing and revising. I’m just disappointed that the company chose to not keep it clean.
Love the idea of this game. According to what card you choose decides what words you will use to answer the card. You preselect about 75 small cards that have one word on them. There are all sorts of words.
It’s fun to see what you can come up with to answer the card.
The only negative about the game is the judging of the responses. Make sure you do not know who’s card is who’s. Personally I don’t think the judge should play their round when judging.
I am happy I purchased this game.
I have not laughed this hard in a really long time! This game was so much fun and very easy to “learn”. I like that we never knew who the judge would be so we all got to play each round. I would recommend playing it with people that have great senses of humor! Some of the phrases my group came up with were hilarious and very creative. There are some NSFW prompt cards, so beware if you’re playing with younger kids or a church group!
Highly recommend this game to anyone who likes having fun.
Currently the favorite game in the house! We have so much fun with this! It can be made family friendly by taking out some of the cards and words with no problem, too. Very creative prompts.
We sent a game to each of our adult children who live in other states. We met on line and played this and it was a huge hit! One person would draw a card, the other people would each put together the words and we would hold up our answers to the camera for everyone to see and read it out loud. The person who drew the card would pick whose answer was best and then we would rotate to the next person to draw a card. It was great to find a game we could all play together as long as we each had a full set! We all laughed a lot and can’t wait to play it again!
We got this as a gift for family who we often have adult family game nights with. We love laughing together and this game brought the laughs! It’s hours of fun and never gets boring because it’s never the same. We are all in our 30s and love this game.
Good fun and much more creative than other similar games as it can be as weird / random / rude as you want to make it. Hoping the little magnet words last as this is a family favourite!
It’s a super fun game! You get to really use your creativity and be as silly or crazy as you want. We play it with a judge who doesn’t know whose answers are whose so there’s no bias or favoritism. But we really love the game!
I’m sure others wouldn’t necessarily play this with their minds in the gutter, but my crew did! This was a great alternative to Cards Against Humanity. A must play for those friend groups that can tolerate ( or embrace) crude humor! Again, I’m sure it can be played “clean,” but what fun is that!?!!
I am always looking for games where everyone can participate and feel included. This game hit the mark and made everyone laugh. Each player gets a magnetic tray and takes a handful of magnetic words. One person reads a prompt. They are fun, funny, interesting and clever prompts. We played it a bit differently than the rules which recommends 60-90 seconds to compose your answer with a judge who decides whose answer is the funniest. Instead, we all went around the table and read our own answers which was helpful as far as understanding the intonations and pauses in the answer. We had a wonderful time and everyone absolutely loved the game. -Nice quality card stock, magnetic words, and magnetic trays.
I received this game as a gift but then purchased it as a gift for a friend. It is a game that gets everyone involved and there are no correct answers. I’m not kidding when I say that when playing this game I have laughed so hard that I have cried (prompt: describe a medical condition, answer: yeast riot). You can easily use the rules that came with the game or make up your own rules. This game would not be appropriate for young children as there are some sexually inappropriate word tiles included. Also, having a glass of wine may make this game cry-worthy.
Takes a bit of time to break apart all the magnets, and then some time at the start of each game, but it’s so worth it. We changed the judging method of the game though to everyone having a token they could use to vote on a favourite, and whoever got the most votes won – if there was a tie, we’d then use the original in game judging system to decide.
Anyone who has ever had magnetic letters or word sets on their fridge will know at least one family member or guest who will use them to spell out rude words or random insults. This game is essentially a continuation of that – a set of magnetic words, small magnetic trays on which to place them, and a set of card prompts along the lines of: “Tell your boyfriend you’ve cheated on him” or “Write tomorrow’s weather forecast”. The funniest word selection wins. The magnetic words are slightly flimsy – at least 8 of them had peeled away from the magnets as I broke them up from their sheets and had to be glued back on. I haven’t had the opportunity to play it with a group yet, but I imagine it would be a good rainy day distraction (and would probably be even funnier with the addition of social time and alcohol).
I purchased the game as a birthday gift, and overall we’ve been really enjoying playing it. It’s a lot of fun to create silly sentences with magnetic word pieces. However, one downside is that the small pieces of the magnet words didn’t look as high-quality as I would have expected for the price I paid. Nonetheless, the game itself is entertaining and we’ve been having a great time playing it.
