Simple instructions, easy to play, and huge amounts of laughter from our entire grouo. We ended up reading our ‘ransom note’ creations out loud to each other like we were performing in a play. Can’t wait to play this again. I predict this being an entertaining Christmas staple this year!
This is a great party game to play with friends or family. Loses one star as the lip on the ‘boards’ makes it really annoying to remove the words, and the word pieces themselves can be quite fiddly to pick up.
Some of the questions are very adult – hence the age rating – but easy enough to remove those and play with younger kids as some of the questions are very innocent. Have had a lot of fun playing as a group of 2, 3 and 4.
Such a simple idea but with a clever selection of magnet words. It says 3+ players, but we played with two of us and have not laughed so much in ages. While you might want to edit the large word bank for younger players, you can moderate your answers easily enough in terms of adult humour and innuendo. As there is no spelling and grammar goes out of the window with the word limitations, it is great for people with dyslexia or just not as confident with their spelling. The playing boards a bit flimsy and irritating how the words catch in the edge, but otherwise awesome. Will play it a lot.
We love word games and bought this for summer hols and general socialising. The fiddly bit was separating all the bazillions of magnetic words but the effort was worth it. The simple premise of using a limited selection of the words to respond to the challenge on the card is very effective and everyone who has played it with us has loved it. Lots of laughs to be had!
Not one for small children without editing the cards but my adult family all enjoyed this immensely. Some of the prompts based around sex perhaps not what my children wanted to hear on their holiday but we had lots of laughs.
The age on the box says 17+ and I agree that this is right.
Me and my partner love this game we often have friends over and it’s soo fun. The set up may take a good few minutes but once everyone is set you can have a real good laugh! The game is simple enough to understand and is nicely put together.
Great fun game. Silly and clever at same time. Played with teenagers and everyone had a laugh. Tiles are quite fiddly but it’s easy to play and tweak rules to suit your audience.
This game is great!! So Funny! However, there are words and phrases that I feel are not appropriate for the littles (I have an 11 & 12 year old). I would say this is more of an adult game.
I had never heard of this game but I came across it online. It’s great, easy to play and lots of fun. You need at least 4 players for it to really work and the more players the better, I believe the max is 6 players just because there are only 6 magnetic boards that are included. The boards are given out to players to organize their Random Notes on.
This is a great game. With that said, I believe it’s more fun if you play with people with great sense of humors. It takes a little while to get going but then your mind starts thinking in randsom note sentences, you’re good to go. Had a ton of laughs. It’s also very easy to learn . The hardest part was separating all the pieces.
One of my relatives said that you end up sounding like a cave man trying to explain something.
It is a lot of fun, and the more the merrier!!!
There are a few wild cards in this, but we skip the ones we don’t want to do. It is such a blast to play this game with any group of friends. There are always one or two that are hesitant to play because you have to be creative, but they always end up loving it by the end!
We played this when all the family came home for Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit! Hilarious!! It can be anything you want it to be – super appropriate to NOT, depending on your group’s personalities. Definitely a great find on Amazon!
So if you are considering buying this, I suggest not gifting it unless you know that the person receiving is fond of this type of game. Also, I did remove some of the cards before we played because they were inappropriate for a mixed group of adults, and certainly not appropriate for kids, in my opinion.
This game takes a few minutes to set up, but once you’ve set it up, it’s a lot of fun. My family and I have laughed so much with this game!
We really like this game. There are quite a few prompt cards that are sexual and on other mature topics. We just took those cards and a few magnets out of the mix. Worked great to play with kids after that.
I’ve played it twice, now. It’s fun to see who is imaginative and who is a literalist, who randomly spreads out their words and who organizes them by parts of speech. We made up some rules (time per turn, how to select the best), because it’s pretty freewheeling. Works for two, but probably better for more. Fun game.
We bought this game for my sister-in-law and her family for Christmas! Immediately we played the game and fell in love. It’s so fun to make up the answers with the words you have on you. Definitely worth the money and then some!
Only downside is the box could be bigger. Once you’ve broken up the magnetic tiles, they become quite bulky. I chose to try & bag them to avoid losing any but they won’t fit in in a bag with the cards & magnetic plates.
This game is a lot of fun! Taking along on vacation, parties, etc. You do have to spend some time separating all the word magnets. I suggest doing in advance, not while everyone is waiting to play. Highly recommend!
A friend told us about this game, as they loved it. We’ve now played it twice with friends/company and had a blast, lots of laughs. We don’t bother with the timer. Sometimes the game can drag but it always comes back to being fun. Highly recommend.
Lots of fun. Only downside is taking the time beforehand to arrange the magnets and searching for words during the game. Perhaps the difficulty finding words is by design to spruce things up and influence your choices via speed. I can’t think of a solution for that, so 5 stars anyway because it’s gobs of fun. Well worth it.
It’s fun to see what you can come up with to answer the card.
The only negative about the game is the judging of the responses. Make sure you do not know who’s card is who’s. Personally I don’t think the judge should play their round when judging.
I am happy I purchased this game.
I have not laughed this hard in a really long time! This game was so much fun and very easy to “learn”. I like that we never knew who the judge would be so we all got to play each round. I would recommend playing it with people that have great senses of humor! Some of the phrases my group came up with were hilarious and very creative. There are some NSFW prompt cards, so beware if you’re playing with younger kids or a church group!
Highly recommend this game to anyone who likes having fun.
Good fun and much more creative than other similar games as it can be as weird / random / rude as you want to make it. Hoping the little magnet words last as this is a family favourite!
It’s a super fun game! You get to really use your creativity and be as silly or crazy as you want. We play it with a judge who doesn’t know whose answers are whose so there’s no bias or favoritism. But we really love the game!
Takes a bit of time to break apart all the magnets, and then some time at the start of each game, but it’s so worth it. We changed the judging method of the game though to everyone having a token they could use to vote on a favourite, and whoever got the most votes won – if there was a tie, we’d then use the original in game judging system to decide.
Anyone who has ever had magnetic letters or word sets on their fridge will know at least one family member or guest who will use them to spell out rude words or random insults. This game is essentially a continuation of that – a set of magnetic words, small magnetic trays on which to place them, and a set of card prompts along the lines of: “Tell your boyfriend you’ve cheated on him” or “Write tomorrow’s weather forecast”. The funniest word selection wins. The magnetic words are slightly flimsy – at least 8 of them had peeled away from the magnets as I broke them up from their sheets and had to be glued back on. I haven’t had the opportunity to play it with a group yet, but I imagine it would be a good rainy day distraction (and would probably be even funnier with the addition of social time and alcohol).
I purchased the game as a birthday gift, and overall we’ve been really enjoying playing it. It’s a lot of fun to create silly sentences with magnetic word pieces. However, one downside is that the small pieces of the magnet words didn’t look as high-quality as I would have expected for the price I paid. Nonetheless, the game itself is entertaining and we’ve been having a great time playing it.
