This is one of those games that whoever plays it, loves it! My son got it for Christmas last year and 8 months later he still plays it almost every day.

What a fantastic game to play! Loved by all ages in my house (ages 3, 7 and 34!) and the great thing is that due to the random nature of the bug moving it’s never a one sided game so everyone has a chance to win…and therefore not throw a huff when they don’t win!

I bought this for my 4 year old son. It was the first thing on his Christmas list. I thought it my be too advanced for him, but he and my 7 year old daughter love playing it together.

Took a little time to set up first as I kept ignoring the instructions and doing it wrong. But once assembled, great fun. All pieces are sturdy and will last many family game times. Not sure how often the batteries in the bug needs changing. Haven’t needed to do so yet.

My daughter is 4 and my mum is 76 and they both enjoy playing this game as much as each other! It’s great fun, quick game pace and unpredictable. had us in fits of laughter many times. Easy to play and understand not to complicated so younger brains (& older ones) don’t lose interest. Great all round family fu

It’s a fabulous game for all ages, my kids are age 10, 7, 4 and they absolutely love playing this game. It’s so much fun to try to get the bug to come to your corner and block off others’ paths, and watching each other throw the dice to see what they will do. The bug is hilarious to watch. Really good quality. Definitely recommend.

Lovely good quality game. Unfortunately one piece holding utensil maze was missing and we were not able to set it up and play. Ordered replacement with Amazon. Other than that game looks well made and I already know it’s fun to play too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing parts

This game is absolutely fantastic. Hours of fun and laughter. Our grandchildren were squeaking with excitement, frantically trying to stop the ‘bug’ from getting into the ‘kitchen’. Brilliant. It even comes with an LR44 coin battery for the ‘bug’! Very useful. The children could play with it straight away without having to stress about getting a battery for it. Well done Ravensburger. A definite 5*.

The whole family had fun with this game over Christmas. One improvement would be to have clearer instructions on how to assemble the ‘utensil’ pieces at the start — we had to re-do it twice before we worked out how it was meant to fit together. But after that, we had a great time playing the game. It’s a nice combination of strategy and luck.

Love the game but was disappointed with the set up, somethings you needed to assemble, could of been pre set up by the creators. I popped the tiny circles out as part as setting it up and ripped the edges of the game, now looks slightly tatty but my children enjoy the game so I would recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe bought this from the Christmas list of our newly 5 year old nephew. It was a little too old for him though his brother and adult relatives enjoyed it immensely. Easy to set up and fun to play and we all appreciate it having 4 different templates from which to play so you can vary the game as you go along or from one time playing it to another. The unpredictability of the bug and the rules that you are allowed to cajole your opponents into responding swiftly all help too as do the easy to follow and accessible instructions. Once we had played it with our older nephew we bought a 2nd box for ourselves and enjoyed playing it with our friends and their kids over the Christmas period and all had a laugh and liked its unpredictability.

We bought it for our 6 and 9 yo boys and it has been a huge hit! The entire family (ages 6 to 70) has been playing, it’s really a lot of fun! The only mild negative is that after just 2 days we have already had to change battery twice! It runs out way too quickly!

Bought as a birthday present for a 5 year old. The recommended age is 6+ but I think its perfect for 5+ once you explain to play. It’s a good strategy game that really gets kids thinking, may take a little trial and error for them to realise how twisting certain forks/spoons changes the way the hexbug runs. The hexbug itself is great! Got a lot of squeals and giggles from the kids and best thing is, it doesn’t need any batteries so you can just open and play straightaway

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a fun, simple idea….you both try to make a path for the hex bug to buzz into your ‘kitchen’ by moving barriers made of cutlery depending on what symbol comes up on your throw of the dice.

Easy enough for a 4 year old to understand and enjoy, but also quite fast-thinking and complex for adults if you really want to get into it. You can play it from either perspective. Have had many, many fun games with my kids with it.

Thoroughly recommended as a simple, fun, easy game anyone can play and enjoy.

Fun game made more exciting for my 6 year old by the inclusion of a Hex Bug. The game requires you to move the cutlery shpes on the board to ensure the bug falls into your kitchen bin whilst your opponent is also moving them on their turn to try to do the same. This a great game for little ones and will help them develop strategic thinking and observation skills. My son has progressed fomr only planning his own moves and forgetting to look and consider the moves I was making, to planning sucessfully to make moves that open two seperate routes to his bin which makes it much harder for me to win. Would definately be a fund way to encourage the development of these skills.

Bought this for my son for christmas. He was obsessed with the advert and asked Santa for it. He is only 3 so below the recommended age but he loves it and it’s easy to play. Rather expensive for what it is in my opinion. The game in easy to build (you are required to build the board by inserting the plastic cutlery into the pre punched holes, after the initial set up the game stays intact in the box which is a good feature as the box is sturdy) Only 1 hexbug is supplied so if you have a naughty puppy like we do prepare to buy a replacement. A basic game and expensive for what it is but aren’t they all.

We really enjoyed this game as a family. I bought it for my 3 year old son who loves mazes. After a quick set up. We all got the hang of the rules straight away. It is a sturdy board game with the addition of a battery powered bug. everyone tries to direct it into their corner. There is lots of excitement as the bug just avoids toppling in to you corner and then goes into an opponents corner instead. There is skill to the game but lots of luck too. Play it on a flat surface and set up correctly to avoid people having an advantage.
My children are 3 and 5 and play this on their own just fine. Sometimes the bug gets stuck in a corner and needs a nudge but apart from that, it is a perfect game really. The battery has lasted 2 months so far with occasional use. Overall, very pleased with the game.

A fantastic game for the whole family, young and older, that requires a mixture of luck and strategy. The bug is very impressive and very fast, scurrying along between the various pieces of cutlery. The element of luck in the game means that younger players can still win even if they are just turning the cutlery randomly. My 2 children are big fan: the 7 year old loves it when the bug falls into her corner and my 4 year old just loved the bug. He loves it so much that he even plays with the bug on his own if we can’t play with him. Of all the board games we’ve bought so far this is by far the most popular in my family and as much fun each time we play it.

Our family are big fans of Hex Bugs and we love creating elaborate tracks and courses for our numerous bugs. As a game this is good fun and we have enjoyed it many times. My only criticism is that the bug does move as freely as you’d like and can sometimes get trapped in a corner or up against a particular playing piece. The lanes are probably too narrow which means the bugs can’t turn as easily as they can with the actual arenas that you can buy. I would still recommend though as it is a great game that all the family will enjoy.

An entertaining and fast game for kids and adults! There are 4 different floor plans to choose from. The walls are made up of spoons, knives and forks. The aim of the game is to get the bug (the hexbug) into your den by turning the cutlery to let it through. You roll the die and move what is shown on it (i.e. a spoon, a knife, a fork or a ? which means your choice) but there’s no time to think as the next player is already taking their turn by rolling the die and so on. The player who gets the bug in their den wins a token. Collect 5 tokens and you win. Guaranteed shrieks of joy and frustration all around! Great game!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis game is really easy to learn and huge fun to play. It can be played by a wide range of ages since the skill is in the speed of play, and you can just go more slowly for a younger player. My 8 and 12 year old enjoy it. Basically you have an automated insect in a maze, and you take turns to alter the maze walls (which ones are dictated by the roll of a dice) to guide the randomly moving insect into your corner. It does bother me that the cards that you win, the base of the game, and the walls that you block unused corners off with are cardboard, and wonder if they will take years of use. I really recommend this game- especially for under 14’s , especially if your little ones struggle with the concentration for chess/ludo/monopoly/trivial pursuit and you are looking for an alternative to snakes and ladders style board games. This game is quite different from anything else out there.
