My wife and I are keen boardgames (well ok I’m keen, she’s indulgent), so I like to try and buy lighter games every so often to keep her interest up. I think this came sots nicely in the boarder between accessible and requiring strategy.
Excellent component quality, a very well put together game. Interesting choices of monsters, some that even XFiles hadn’t taught me about!
The game is fun with a bit of challenge to it. I also like the variety in gameplay between the mo steps, makes each play through slightly different.
Recommended, and I’m sure I’ll be picking up the Ancient Greece version when it arrives.
We have really enjoyed this family friendly co-op game that sees players chasing down multiple monsters in a small town.
The components are incredibly well made with thick card tokens, generous numbers of playing pieces, and some really beautifully sculpted monster miniatures.
The rules are easy to learn and the scalable difficulty makes it easy to consolidate that how to play knowledge across all the players without things getting out of hand in early games.
However, my one concern so far is that whilst we’ve yet to play at the most intense difficulty, the game has overall been a bit too easy if all of the players pay attention to what they are doing. Compared to a game like pandemic where the stakes feel very high throughout and a single turn can make the difference, it has yet to feel like Horrified has us on the ropes.
The theme is fantastic and the execution is great, and despite the qualms about difficulty it is probably testament to how much fun we’re having that we keep getting this one back to the gaming table!
Absolutely love this game. So many options and each game is different. Good for individual/ small groups and great for 5 players too!
Excellent game and perfect for movie buffs. Really like that there are different levels of difficulty- ideal for anyone just venturing into strategy board games.
Not too tough to understand but with a lot of charm and room for adjusting the challenge! A must play!
We’ve played the first version of this game and really enjoyed it so we opted to purchase this one too! It’s super easy to learn and a lot of fun!
I’ve played through this game solo and co-op and I have to say it is incredibly good fun. Solo mode is a challenge with the more difficult monsters, but a great option to have. I like the co-op aspect of the game too, as there can be a lot of interaction between the players and having to agree on a strategy can be interesting when you’ve got one player intent on saving as many civilians as possible and the other intent on killing the monsters(!).
Well made components apart from the bag to keep various tokens in (but that’s just a personal preference – I don’t like the plastic, but it’s easy enough to use something else). Rules are straightforward, especially for the lower powered monsters, and all in all a very enjoyable game.
Really like the graphics for everything and the monster figures are excellent. Good game if a little complex to begin with.
Being fans of the first game, this did not disappoint. Very much more of an X-Files flavour to it, it changes up the Monsters nicely.
