Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was a bit disappointed with his curling tongs. Advertised for short or long hair,v it is a bit too think for short hair. More seriously, it has no on/off switch – it is on if plugged in and off if unplugged. If i had noticed this, I would not have bought it. It is, however, a reliable make. I haven’t decided whether to keep it yet but will try it out for while.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI had one similar to this decades ago, I had forgotten how great it was for quick, easy styling of short hair. Now I remember and this is my new improved version, I won’t be going back to tongs or straighteners.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis was excellent value and I use it most days. It heats up quickly and curls my hair well. The only thing that annoys me sometimes is how hot the barrel gets and due to my clumsiness, I sometimes hurt my fingers but I still love it and would buy again.

Works well on short and mid length hair. The steam function is good for mid length hair, as it helps the curl. Not so good on very long thick hair as it tends to tangle. However the ‘comb teeth’ can be removed quickly, which proved a blessing!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersInstructions given on how to use not very informative especially regarding filling with water !!! When I removed the end to fill I noticed a bit of white material just pushed in the hole where the water goes, looked in the instructions again and nothing mentioned so I pulled this piece of material out. I filled the tank with water turned it on and it leaked with now hot water all over my head I turned it off at the mains and put them in the drawer I then requested a refund for the brush being faulty. A few days later I was using an older version of the brush and noted that there was a plug of fabric in them which was stuck firm and that’s when I had the lightbulb moment ….. I replaced the white pice of material in the new brush filled the tank with water and hey presto no leakage so I will not be returning them

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI haven’t used the steam function on this brush as it seems to do the job as a ‘dry’ brush. The barrel is just slightly bigger than expected but it is fine for my needs. Whilst I have short hair it isn’t very short in which case I think the barrel would be too big. The brush doesn’t get really hot and there isn’t an on/off switch on the appliance so I do have to remember to pull out the plug after each use. The lead could also do with being just that little bit longer but that again is a personal thing.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBought to replace similar which lasted for about 10 years! probably longer but mine got lost on holiday. this one is almost exactly the same as my old one – its a winning design. Very simple thing, its a heated brush, that’s what it does. There is a release button to loosen the brushes in case you get it stuck which is handy. Its on or off, hot or not. This has no auto-shut off so, you need to remember you have it on! it does have a good bright light so you know its on but, if you leave it on and forget it, it stays on until you remember! comes with some spare brush panels too. Quite a small brush profile. Love this thing

I buy these for someone else and they use the styler every morning with steam. I know they wouldn’t change from this make and model. Ideal for refreshing a loose perm or natural curls, or indeed creating new loose curls and ringlets in straight hair, and of course in dealing with bed hair. The steam shot adds extra curling ability and the pull-release is also easy to master. Looking at when I purchased the last one of these, it was 2015. So these seems to last a good 6 years if being used with steam. What breaks is the steam button at the end – the spring goes rusty and the plastic perishes. This is even with emptying the brush of water and hanging it up to let it fully drain each day after use, as well as drying off the steam push button end. But 6+ years is a good life expectancy for an item which in 2022 still costs less than 17, particularly when it is being used every day. Buy this styler first if you’re in the market for one. Cheap, reliable, long lasting, easy to operate, and it really does work.

Bought this to replace a Calista model that I loved but which is no longer manufactured. It is easy to use and the barrel size is perfect for my short bob hairstyle. Would have given it 5* rating if it came in a bag and had a little stand to rest it on. Little niggles that don’t detract from the overall ease of use and satisfactory results, but would be useful.

I have been using one of these for years. My last one fell apart so had to have another . This one is not as good as my other ones, the barrel keeps slipping round so I have to hold the end of it, the barrel should only move to release the hair , having said that, I still can’t be with out it.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI usually curl my hair with heated rollers and bought this brush for quick tidy ups. I now prefer the results I get just using the brush, much longer lasting and more natural looking.
I have only deducted one star because there is no curl release function despite there being a button that doesn’t seem to do anything.
I’ve become tangled a couple of times and had to unplug the brush to prevent it burning my hair while I try to disentangle. I now make sure I don’t try to wind too much hair at a time and problem avoided. This brush is an excellent buy at a very good price.

Golden Review Award: 103 From Our UsersI’ve tried using straighteners and curling tongs, but always seemed to burn my fingers, especially when trying to curl the hair at the back of my head. However, because this is a brush, I can touch the prongs without being burnt, which makes it much easier to use.

It takes a few minutes to heat up if you want to use the steam feature, but to save waiting I turn it on while I dry my hair. The little water reservoir at the end is simply unscrewed, filled with water and screwed back on and when it’s hot enough the end is pushed down to release some steam. You need to be careful if you have the steam styler near bare skin, but it’s a relief not to have to worry about burnt fingers any more.

I find the technique for using it easier than the technique for using curling tongs, because with the Flexibrush the hair is wound from the ends to the roots (like you would wind on a hair roller), rather than winding the hair around the barrel with your fingers.

There is a button for releasing the hair after curling so that the bristles swivel around the barrel, but it’s a bit stiff and doesn’t really work on my hair as it’s so thick and coarse, so I just carefully unwind the flexibrush instead and leave the curl to cool. When I was curling the back of my hair, at approx 1.75cm the cord wasn’t long enough for me to be able to see in the mirror, so it could do with being a bit longer.

Pros – lightweight, easy to use and less likelihood of burning fingers, barrel size good for shorter length hair, swivel barrel, comes with a second set of different length combs for the barrel for thicker/longer hair

Cons – takes about 5 minutes to heat up with the steam feature, the hair release button is a bit stiff, and at only approx 1.75cm (69 inches) the cord could do with being longe

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad one of these several years ago which was indispensible – but then time took it’s toll and it passed on to hotbrush heaven without reincarnation – until now!

Fond memories flood back of the occasional burst of hot steam that scalded the ear or scalp when the curl was wound too tight, but those temporary blisters were a badge of pride and small price to pay for the 80% success rate produced on very stubborn, very straight, and very fine hair (hands up if you know exactly where I’m coming from – I bet I wasn’t the only one to bear those battle scars)!

Dear reader, with such fond remembrance, you may wonder why only four stars have been awarded? Well the worry is that the combs supplied with this reincarnation seem more rigid than the old ones, making me think that they might just become brittle fairly quickly if the styler is to be used on a daily basis……anyway, I’m off now to see if I’ve lost any of my ear-burning proficiency over the last decade or more. Welcome back steam flexibrush.

I was extremely pleased to find this on Amazon and it seems to be identical in all but the colour. I wanted a replacement as the previous styler had been very reliable, over about 5 years and is still working, although a few pieces are now broken. I wanted a styler that works efficiently on different voltages when using a plug adaptor. This one works very well in those circumstances, heating up quickly and to the same temperatures as it does at home. I have used other products in the past without that same reliability- they can take much, much longer to heat up or they never get to the same temperature and therefore your hair doesn’t style as well. It is easy to use, the hair stays round the brush and it is easy to clean. I don’t tend to use the steam part of it but that does work well although the water does tend to get used up quite quickly. All in all a good purchase and not expensive compared with other products on the market.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis hair styler was very inexpensive when compared with other stylers. I bought it for this reason and because it had very good reviews. I would describe it as a simple, basic styler in that it had no fancy features. Unlike other stylers it did not offer a choice of different size barrels or different temperatures. It was very simple – you plugged it in and off you went. Basically you get what you pay for. However it is sturdy and well made. I found the use of steam very useful and I feel that this makes the effects longer lasting. The barrel is quite small so you will get curls with it. The barrel is too small to straighten hair or smooth it out. I would say it will work best on shortish to mid-length hair for someone who wants curls rather than a smooth finish. If this is what you want then it is a very good buy and I recommend it for this purpose. If you are looking for additional features then be prepared to spend more on a more complex styler.
