For the price, it’s not a bad toy. There are 4 as batteries supplied, and a screwdriver to get the cover off. Two batteries go in the remote, the other two in the car. It’s a nice little car, in shades of mostly blue, with some red. It’s reasonably sturdy, but I don’t think it is going to last long, chiefly because taking the cover off the care needs care. Rough handling will crack it. However, again, it’s not hugely expensive, so you do get what you pay for. It comes quite well boxed and would make a good gift.

It was easy enough to install two AA batteries in the remote control, although you do need a small screwdriver (supplied). However, installing the two AA batteries (four AA batteries are supplied) in the blue and red monster vehicle is not that straightforward.

The instructions in the leaflet inside the box are very basic and in the end we worked out what to do by using common sense, although we later realised there were some basic directions on the outside of the box. We are a little worried that the catch at the back might not stand the test of time if you are a little heavy-handed in removing the top of the vehicle to install the batteries.

The vehicle is about the size of my hand (adult women with small to average-sized hands). It is blue (with a flashy red graphic) and has four chunky wheels and moves well on both carpet and smooth flooring; we have not tried it outside and I don’t necessarily think this toy was designed for this purpose. The overall quality is acceptable but the monster vehicle cover is a little flimsy in my opinion (although I’ve seen worse), after our experience of installing the batteries.

Once you’ve installed the batteries, there is an on/off switch you need to put in the ‘on’ position; you know you have done this as two red lights will light up on the base of the vehicle.

The remote control works by pressing one of the four buttons: forward, backward, right or left. In fact, the latter two buttons move the wheels either right or left but you then need to press the forward button to get it to drive in either direction — or at least, that’s what I observed, but we could not have mastered it yet!

This is recommended for 3 year plus and depending on the child then it might be appropriate to gift it to them to play with at a older age e.g. 5 years plus. The compact box is quite attractive and suitable for gifting.

We think this is a nice remote control toy for a child, especially for one interested in monster vehicles, and are happy to recommend. It’s current price point at 11.99 seems fairly reasonable too, although if you shop around you might be able to find the same model for a few pounds cheaper.
