Look after your tyres and they will look after you and your wallet
Correctly inflated tyres make your vehicle more fuel efficient – cutting down on your fuel costs and reducing carbon emissions.
Correct inflation give the optimum surface area of the tyre in contact with the road, improving handling, helping tyres last longer and cutting fuel consumption.
With cost of fuel and motoring rising, save money by regularly checking your tyres’ pressure.
According to TyreSafe.org, 56.8% of cars on UK roads are underinflated by at least 4PSI. If every car in the UK had properly inflated tyres, it’d save 1biilion pounds of fuel a year.

This is so easy to use and when I got back into the car and drove around to read the pressure it was only off by 1 PSI so very happy with it and it’s really fast too
Bought this for my new car as it actually has a spare/jack and not a compressor (must say I prefer a real spare over the gunk that’s supposed to fix your tyre – never does!)
Used it to inflate a front tyre from 17-36psi after picking up a puncture and was surprised how quick this was on a 19″ wheel.
Set it to auto-inflate/stop to check all of them. Its pressures are repeatable, but I had to set 1psi above the required pressures to match the figure the TPMS displays. No great hardship… I don’t know which is actually correct, but it works for me this way.
How long will it last? Who knows – it’s a tool you like to have but hope never to use!
Works ok. Like the cut out when reaching desired pressure. Tyre adaptor lead could be longer as sometimes if valve at top of wheel then unit hangs in mid air. Not stable on ground. Retracting lead good idea, but do not see it lasting long as flimsy.
I purchased this after someone came to my rescue with one. I’ve always been intimidated by these and thought I might end up letting down a tyre rather than blowing it up, but this is so easy to use you can’t go wrong. The only fault is having to hold it still or the vibration bounces it along the floor!
Have used this a few times (one tyre loses about 10psi over a month, can’t find the hole). I like that the cable folds away and the airhose. It also has memory so when you unplug it, the previous PSI target is kept. Brase air connector too. I’d turn your car ignition on as these airpump seem to go quicker that way. Only negative is that the connector has to screw on to valves. I bought an adapter so that it is quick clamp on, which makes it easier if adjusting 4 tyres and less chance for air to escape. I will say the airhose is a bit short, for example if your valve is at the top point of the wheel, then it will be a bit hard to reach and be flat on the ground, but that doesn’t affect operation.
Absolutely the best and most accurate tyre inflator ive used
This is a good pump and easy to use. Set the pressure required, when reached it stops. I find it good value for the price.
Comes in a zippered pouch, great for keeping all components safe in the car. Easy to use, easy to read. Settings can be changed for different measuring rates, set your pressure and go. No squinting, guessing or random selection of figures, large numbers easily read. Auto stop when pressure reached. Cable winds into the unit, storage for air hose too. Feels robust, only upgrade which would be useful is a clip attachment for ease of fixing hose rather than threaded one but that does not affect the use of this excellent inflator. Included are multiple adaptors for airbeds, footballs etc. Highly recommended.
Swift dispatch. Arrived quickly. Plugs in to cigarette lighter in car. Works well.
I Really like this compressor, it’s a step up from my old one where you have to keep coming back to it to check the pressure. This one is a breeze, pull the cable that is inside, connect up, light on if it’s dark, put in the number for what you prefer, in my case PSI, press the button and it turns off when done. And turn the dial on the bottom to retract the lead inside it when finished. Very pleased at a good price. Easy and very convenient. It comes in a box but it would have been great if it had a case or bag.
Great car tyre pump best ive have, spend more and get quality thats why i bought ring number 1 in the top 10
ice and compact Powerful enough to pump my Van ties up ,turn your engine on if you want it to pump up quicke
No complaints here, performs as you’d expect. Turns off when you reach the desired psi, you can also save settings, which is a great help.
Overall happy as a pig in manure.
Used this several times and it does the job well, inflates a tyre much quicker than using a footpump. It packs away neatly, is easy to set up, the hose attaches to the tyre valve well, seems to be accurate in setting the desired tyre pressure and overall very pleased with it. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it’s a bit noisy, but to be fair it might not be any noisier than other pumps.
Easy to use and solidly built. Haven’t used the light so cannot comment on it. A good buy.
Tyre inflator is easy to use and long cables does mean that machine can be on ground when inflating tyres rather than having to hold which was the problem with my old tyre inflator. Inflated pressures seem to be identical on all tyres. Only used once but if works the same next time then I will be happy with the purchase
I purchased this compressor a few months ago after having two different tyre inflator that wasn’t satisfied with… This is a doddle to use a child could use it… I pump my tyres up on the car.. You set to the p.s.i…and it’s bang on, as I checked with a old skool tyre pressure gauge.. Spot on… So yes highly recommended this product… The actual case doesn’t look it take a lot of knocking about… But for the money all good in the hood..
Used every day for a few months until we said goodbye to the car with a wheel that gently lost air (dink in alloy).
It’s won best model in most car mags/RAC several years in a row, east to use, reliable, sturdy, digital display changes to bar/psi etc (whichever you use), decent connector, long hose, long lead to 12v point which winds back in. Comes in a bag with gloves and four spare tyre caps .
This replaced defunct15-year-old model. It’s accurate and simple to use. Do yourself a favour and buy screw on nozzle clips. (Yueming 3.99), makes doing tyres so easy. The wind-in lead was a bit stiff but loosened up with use.
Only used it a few times, so early days. The ability to set a pressure setting means you can use it unattended. The unit does not require a box as as it has cable tidies and valve converters built in. It also pumps up faster than my previous device.
Very suspicious about this type of product after my last RAC/AA purchase of such an item which took far longer than manual pumping to inflate tyres.
Did a lot of research this time and Ring products were getting really good reviews.
Plumped for the 1000 model because of the protective nylon bag.
Seems to be well made but I wouldn’t recommend dropping it as I think this would break it.
I’ve just tried it out for the first time.
The digital readout makes it easy to set the pressure and the pump switches off automatically when the desired pressure is reached.
I was prepared to be standing around for a long while but I t takes literally seconds to top up tyres say around 2 to 5 psi down. One of them was just 22psi but easily inflated within 10 seconds to 32psi.
I’m well impressed. This item costs more than many others but is well worth the extra.
You only get what you pay for is true in this case.
his is number two the first one just stopped working i think the cable has broken and the reason is it is very hard to rewind or pull out and sometimes it gets stuck. It is a good product but a foot pump is a much simpler thing to use , why did he buy another one i hear you say at 77yr’s old i just want the easy life.
I was recommended one of these & I’m not disappointed. Used it a couple of times on the car & campervan & it’s worked perfectly. If I had one improvement to suggest it would be make the power cable a bit longer – it’s fine for the car but using it for the camper is a bit of a faff.
Used it for the first time recently and it was pretty easy to figure out although I did read over the manual first. It’s pretty quick to pump up tyres. Pleased with it. Does what it says on the tin.
Really easy to use, quick and quiet.
The only downside I found, was the readings seem a little high when compared to a gauge at the Garage. (.5 Bar). It could be the Garage gauge and the instructions do say to check on an accurate gauge after using, but then that’s surly the whole point of being able to use this at home
Had this product for less than a year and it has stopped working. Not what you would expect. However, had it continued to function, I would have rated the product highly, as it inflated the tyres to the right psi without effort, but sadly can’t now. I have increased my rating by 1 Star as I contacted Ring via Amazon Website and they have provided a new unit without question. I can’t incresae the start rating further at this point until I have used it for a longer period without issue.
Best pump I have owned.
Quick compared to other pumps I have owned. Fairly easy to use, plug it in set your desired pressure, connect it to tyre, turn it on.
It turns off automatically when it reaches your set pressure, easy.
The pump draws the most power that can be taken from the 12v socket on most cars, so you won’t find a pump that is much more powerful than this one.
It states that it will inflate a tyre in 2 mins. My tyres are a little larger than the spec, so takes a little longer, but it’s still quick.
Display is a good size as you read it from the standing position, very good.
My only criticism is that the tyre connection is a screw fit and it only seals once screwed on fully. This means it leaks away the air once you start to remove the connector. This is overcome by setting the pressure slightly high to allow for it and unscrewing it fast. It would have got 5 stars if it had a lever connection like most other pumps. I would still highly recommend this pump, I am so pleased that I bought a second one for someone else.
Had previously purchased similar item which proved very reliable for several years. This new item has been updated making it easier to use. The valve connector seems a better fit and the length of the cigarette connector lead is excellent for all tyres when fed through either of the front windows. All in all very good value and uncomplicated .
Very easy to use. Both leads retract. The 12v lead is long enough out of the front left & right windows. The air line is long enough not to be annoying and the valve connector looks very good & long lasting. The thing is very straightforward to use. Middle button for Units and left/right to set cut-off. It defaults to psi so good for me. I was surprised how quick it was. Even quicker with the engine on – that’s how I’ll use it going forward. Unit is compact so easy to store and didn’t appear to get warm with use. I should have got this, or one like it years ago!
This is a compact tyre pressure tyre inflator. Seems to be accurate. Only used to test so far! But great to have the preset feature for pressure. Fits neatly into the boot of the ca
Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. However, if my valve is at the top of my 19” wheels, the air hose is about 6” too short and I have to hold the compressor off the ground.
My car had recently developed a slow puncture, pinging up the warning light every 3-4 weeks and prompting a trip to the local supermarket or filling station for a top-up. It had a habit of going ping when I’m commuting to work early in the morning, never the best time. So I thought I’d invest in a tyre inflator to keep in the boot of the car so I can top up at my leisure, at least until I inevitably have to get the tyre repaired.
There are dozens of tyre inflators available, some with digital readings and some with traditional analogue dials. What very few of them do is have the safe-guard feature of being able to set the desired pressure and the machine turns off when it reaches it. It is this functionality that swung me towards the Ring RTC1000.
Ring, not to be confused with the Ring who make smart doorbells, are something of a specialist in the tyre pressure market so I was confident in the brand. The inflator arrives in its storage bag that also contains some protective gloves which are ideal for protecting you from the filth on your wheels and valves (although I’ve long been an advocate of just wiping my fingers on my jeans but that’s just me). Opening the bag you find the inflator, and at a quick glance you could mistake it for a defibrillator. It has a large blue digital display that shows the current pressure reading and your target pressure, plus a status indicator across the middle. You set the desired pressure using the yellow dial below the display, pressing it in to confirm your selection. At the bottom of the machine is a big “On” button, which begins the inflation process. In the centre is a button that illuminates the light found on the right-hand side of the device, and a moulded depression for placing your valve caps. On the left is a recess which contains the inflation tube and connector, and on the underside is an enclosed reel that tucks away the 3.5m long power cable which can be quickly wound away when finished.
In operation, the Ring RTC1000 is easy to use and although noisy as you would expect from a pump it isn’t offensively loud. As you’re likely to be running your engine while operating the inflator it’s not much worse than the sound of your car. Both the power cable and inflation tube come out quickly and easily. The power cable is easy to wind back in, but you need to manually manipulate the inflation tube back into the recess. On the end of the inflation tube is a screw-on fitting that attached to the valve on your car’s tyre to enable a hands-free inflation. Just behind the fitting is a pressure-release button to allow you to adjust the tyre pressure without unscrewing the inflation tube.
There is always going to be a question mark as to how accurate the reading is on these home inflation machines. When you first screw on the inflation tube it’s important to wait a few seconds for the display to finish taking its initial reading. Occasionally I found that the inflator would go up to the desired target, and then drop down by half a point. What I tend to do is set it for half a point (PSI or Bar) higher to compensate, and allow for any loss in pressure when removing the inflation tube. To get an idea of accuracy I compared readings on the Ring RTC1000 with those on my trusty little Rolson digital tyre gauge. Typically, I’ve found the initial reading prior to inflation to be identical, but 0.05 Bar higher on the Ring after inflation. My photos show before and after shots of readings from both the Ring and the Rolson. I would caveat this by saying I have no idea of how well calibrated the Rolson is either, it’s merely for guidance. Whatever, I’m satisfied that the margin of area is acceptable.
Other notes I’d make is that realistically you’d never store your valve caps in the depression on the device as they’d fall out the moment you moved the whole lot to your next tyre. Also, a minor quibble, the light for me is on the wrong side. As a right-handed person I would crouch with the wheel to my left so as to bring my right arm across towards it (in a forehand-tennis shot approach). The torch is therefore shining in the wrong direction as I’d need to have the tyre on my right side (in a backhand approach) which doesn’t make it as easy to screw on the inflation tube.
In summary though, I think the Ring RTC1000 is a very good digital tyre inflator and does everything I’d ask of it. A few minor points remind me it’s not perfect, and it is quite expensive compared to others, however the auto-stop function to me is a valuable safety feature and if I had my time again I still believe I’d buy the Ring RTC1000.
