Very pleased with these. Have worn them in all weathers over the past couple of weeks & often forget I’m wearing them – until I stop riding and they mist up. They seem to handle going from sunshine into a forest quite well.
Brought these glasses to wear when out walking or driving, advised to wear sunglasses by my optometrist due to onset of cataracts. Found fixed colour lenses too dark at time but these are perfect for me, I wear then out when walking the dog or driving in all lighting conditions never too dark
Very light and comfortable. Saves having to use interchangeable lenses and can be used in the lowest light when they are clear or in the brightest sunshine. Change can be slow moving from sunlight to dark shade but since i’m not a racer it doesn’t present too much of a problem
I have worn these a few times now. They are comfortable and are great for those days with mixed weather. Good value and very practical but if you want to look very cool then a pair of Sun Gods at 5 x the price!
During for mountain bike trails – perfect while riding and they react well to light and dark areas of the trail. Fog up slightly when u stop but it’s no issue for me
REVIEW ON PREVIOUS REVIEW:- these do work, no good for driving though as glass is UV protected so glased do not change shade, they are in fact fine outside.
Bought these for driving, I’m a Class 1 driver, the shade change is minimal, they are ok if you want classes for bright but not sunny days, or as safety type glasses, not verified, so crap really
I’ve had these for 2years now and whilst not my main glasses are a good addition for low light, changeable and gravel rides, typically once or twice a week or more. They are maybe slightly slow to change when its a sharp change from direct sunlight to dark but on the whole they aren’t bad, have been robust (stood up to initial gravel bike falls without damage) & were good VfM. They save carry a spare pair of lenses. Sorry for all the selfies but I think the show the transition best. They are also ones over the last 5months (this year) and hopefully show the lenses have stood up well.
Bought these for my work commute as I was using a pair of sports sunglasses which were too dark at times. Value for money they do the job and as we are into autumn / winter mornings they are more than adequate for giving a bit of eye protection as well as protection from the sun. They do darken as the light increases but do not go terribly dark, which suits me, but come the summer I suspect for some people they may not be dark enough. On the winter sunny mornings though they are very good at preventing dazzle from the low sun. Impressed with them and would recommend for the the casual cyclist like myself who only uses for work commutes.
*Writing this review based on one bike ride*
+ Lightweight
+ Comfortable
+ Was not squinting at any time (although it was not the brightest of days)
+ Lenses changed in good time and was not waiting for them to catch up with any change of light
– Did steam up, BUT this was only noticeable when I had stopped. As soon as I started moving again this cleared up
All in all on their maiden 46 mile ride, I was happy with them and at no point thought I wanted a different pair. So far, so good
So, I got these for cycling but I will use them for kayaking too.
Personally I think they are great for the money.
Photocromatic coatings are expensive, I think they are sprayed on.
There is no cheap version, but it depends how much is put on.
I suspect this manufacturer will bank on many 1000’s being sold to make a small profit.
A lot of reviews seem to complain about how light or dark they are.
It does state the %age from – too and I would say thats what you get.
I also think most people that leave these reviews have maybe not had any expensive lens to compare.
They are not necessarily quicker, but the % will change as, the more coating the darker you make them.
Also one reviewer said it disappeared with alcohol, quite possibly as, again in more expensive lens, there will be more coatings and maybe a protective filter coating, maybe these dont have that, but for how much you pay, if they last a year or two, is that good?
If you paid hundreds, what would you expect then?
I cycled with them today in varying sunlight and I found they did alter the transmission of light throughout the ride.
Given you get, a cleaning cloth, a soft and hard case, a lanyard, a prescription holder, 3 different coloured side parts, I think the value is good.
So, my photos are taken straight from the box and after being left in shady sunlight. The time taken is pretty irrelevant.
I was going to get some more expensive ones, but for what i use them for, its a risk using these in sport damaging them easily, I thought i would try these and I am impressed, for up to 100, i dont think you would gain.
I haven’t yet tested it in a very bright day (still waiting for the sun to shine hard) but it worked already a little by overcast days.
They’re too small to offer a real wind protection, especially when it’s cold (you’ll still get wet eyes).
Because of the design, the edges of the glass have some pieces a bit distracting as they are visible on the edges of the peripheral vision – kind of like having pieces of clear tape stuck there.
It came with a solid case and a thing pouch, and two set of plastic clips to change the colours of a little part on the branches: black fitted, silver and red as replacements.
When used in the dark, it’s vey clear and it doesn’t impede the vision, no deformation either.
No issue with the nose clip. I had to pinch it a bit to make it fit tighter. Those glasses are lightweight, so no issue with comfort.
Now days are getting darker I wanted some glasses to protect me from wind/rain and offer some sunlight protection. As I have a wide bridge I wanted an adjustable nose piece as well.
These are quite comfortable but the arms are a little too large so sit on top of the headphones rather than besides. The lenses also refract some led headlight beams possibly due to lack of polarisation – it’s just presented as smaller lights near the car and not too distracting.
These niggling aspects aside, they sit close to the face, don’t impede visibility and protect my eyes are required. They do tint slightly as well.
If you’re a casual cyclist who wants a cheap pair of cycling glasses for fair/poor weather then these will do the job. If you want a Photochrommatic polarised pair of higher quality then I suggest you pay more.
