We are using these to control hot to views on the farm. We are trialling one currently, but aiming to install for each of our three hot tubs to control both on and off time and a the product with you timing schedule. The app is really easy to use, may also install to control freezer power use. Well done to the R&D team for coming up with this product.
Bought to power garden waterfall and filter about 30 feet from the house. Easy to set up and connect to Alexa via the Alexa app. Simple to install. Only gripe was that it had no waterproof cable grommet in the box. Luckily the socket i replaced had one.
The external plug socket is of good quality and was simple to install. I set the device up using the Tuya App rather than what is recommended, then used the Local Tuya integration to integrate into my Home Assistant project. This functionality works really well, the sockets can be independently turned on and off via Home Assistant automations. Total Current, Voltage, and Power for the two sockets combined are also fed into Home Assistant, allowing energy consumption by devices using the socket to be monitored and recorded. It is a limitation of the device that this data is provided as a total for the two sockets, it’d be even better if it was available for each socket independently but this does not negatively impact my usage.
Very happy with this outdoor socket and even happier having wifi control as I can have it that it won’t have power supplied, only when needed so nobody else can use it.
We got an electrician to install the socket. However trying to connect to wifi very tricky. I contacted support and the very helpful Peter talked me through it, and now all up and running.
Decent quality light switch which can be used outdoors or in a shed/outbuilding.
Easy to install if you know basic switch wiring with a common and switched live set-up.
Unusually this socket does require a neutral connection if you want the LED light to come on but works perfectly well without it.
Big button makes it easy to find and feels very solid.
I have bought a few smart outdoor sockets but this is the only one that I can say is of excellent quality. It works very simply with Smartlife or Tuya too which saves adding yet another app to your home automation.
Nicely built IP66 switch with a very postive clunk when operating.
LED comes in very handy if the clunk is not enough to remind you you have turned it on.
Bought to replace an older switch where the outer membrane had split, wish I had fitted this 6 years ago instead.
First tried to use this for the pond but the Wi-Fi wouldn’t reach that far so had to relocate it to the patio area where it works really well. The app allows you to set multiple on/off times for either of side of the socket so no need for a separate timer, or just turn them on and off manually I don’t use Alexa or anything similar so can’t comment how well it works with those gadgets. Very pleased with it, would buy agai
I replaced a single outdoor socket with this device on my patio. Almost a straight swap over as looks the same manufacture. Just had to be careful to make sure the mounting holes lined up. I did test it first to see how easy the set was. I use the smart life app and it was very easy and simple to set up. You can set timers individually for each socket – monitor the power usage – and have a common on off. You can also just switch them on from the switch if you havent got your phone. The switch is a pulser like a doorbell so feels a bit strange to use but operation is tactile and device generally feels good quality and waterproof. Fun to play with and show off – Now the novelty worn off just works and the lights and water pump just do there thing and all is good
This is a great product; well-guarded and secured against rain or other weather conditions, easy to set up, stable WiFi connection.
The application has pretty useful functions telling the power usages and so on.
Funny thing is that as in the second picture, the image of a green robot like the Android logo shows up when it gets dark. I believe this is not intentional though.
The reason I took one star is that the small plastic caps are easy to fall off. I have not use any glue as there must be reasons for the opennings.
Initially tricky to set up. Firstly, you don’t need to re-name your WiFi SSID to two separate frequencies as suggested by some reviewers. I’m on Sky, so I unchecked the ‘syncronise 2.4ghz and 5ghz’ on the router login in the 5ghz tab. This meant that only 2.4ghz was being broadcast so the smart socket could see it. Once it did this and registered it, it worked fine. Then you need to re-check the synchronization of 2.4ghz and 5ghz so that your other devices can still use 5ghz.
I purchased this plug to remotely control garden lights. It was installed by an electrician and appears to be waterproof. Pairing was another matter I have tried for 6 days to pair this to my WiFi but it would not pick up the signal the socket fitted at the back of a 4 bed house the router in the hall in the centre. I have had to buy a WiFi extender to enable the socket to pick up my wife. Moving the router nearer the socket worked however this compromised the wifi signal to my office at the front of the house. All in all it now works well not I’ve paid an additional 60 for a WiFi extender. Having also paid am electrician to fit thus socket and the purchase of the wifi extender it has worked out to be a very expensive outdoor socket. Had i known I needed a WiFi extender I would have just purchased a normal outdoor socket with a manual timer which would have been cheaper.
Good
Great quality, time will tell on life
Good black finish to blend in with other black outdoor fittings
Easy to install
Has ability to lock with a padlock to prevent access
Bad
Not bad, but be warned if using unplug Ring camera into. The ring camera has a stupid plug where the cable exits at about 45 degrees instead of being inline. Makes closing the socket box tricky as the lid touches the plug. Gently but firm pressure just about does it, but could see a forceful approach could easily break the lid.
