This is a fantastic piece of kit! It is really sturdy and feels amazingly strong. It’s not what I’d call ‘lightweight’, but I didn’t buy it for that. I bought it because I wanted something that I could lean on without fear of it breaking and this appealed to me because the head is so well fixed to the shaft and I never have any concern about it bending like so many others which have a ‘stalk’ linking the two pieces together.
It does a great job in the garden and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Why oh why have I not had one of these before? Now I know why Monty Don, Alan Titchmarsh, Adam Frost etc all use one. More power than a trowel but smaller than a spade and perfect from standing or kneeling.
Perfect for perennial type planting and division at autumn/spring. It’s sturdy, great to use and looks like a quality tool. Really recommend S&J products and this is a great addition if you’re a keen gardener.
I bought this to use in a raised bed, particularly to earth up potato plants. It is a sturdy little spade which does the job perfectly.
