Bought this for the family as I was looking for a cooperative game. We played with 3 kids (all under 8) and an adult and everyone absolutely loved it! The rules are simple to follow and the kids understood the concept of “we all win or we all lose”. The riddles presented on each roll is really cool and gets the kids thinking together to solve it. The events are a nice touch, really bringing the movie elements that I remember when I was a kid, it gives the game that immersive experience as we need to think and act quick to respond to keep the game going. Lifelines are neat, you can share lives among the players and my kids noticed without direction, by sharing lives when one of them is getting low will keep the game going and gives a chance to win.
Some feedback, but doesn’t change my 5 star rating, is to have a fully wood set (box and character pieces) and also unique character pieces (they’re all rhinos). I would also say to have maybe a built in container to keep all the loose pieces inside. If there was a special edition that had these elements, I know I would be quick to purchase!
Only one bad thing is there is no volume, so the sounds are pretty loud, but it was still a blast! Get it!
I bought this game as a requested gift. The boys age 6 and 9 found the game a little difficult – especially the 6 yr old but did play with from time to time.
Ok I really love this board game and listen to me very carefully. Keep the pamphlet that comes with it!! Or you’re not gonna know what to do when you start hearing the drums!!! Dumb me threw it away…. Don’t be me. Other than that. It really is quite lovely. But now when the green dome starts crackling and hearing drums..we just gotta skip that part.. cause I threw away the dad blame instructions.. lol it lights up just fine and it is really fun to play.. just keep all your pieces!! Pls learn from me.
This game has easy-to-follow instructions and is so much fun! We had a lot of laughs as we completed the different challenges. We loved the sound effects and the colorful game board. I highly recommend it!
Great movie and big fan of the original. So with this one with the interactive sounds and real window in the middle, brings back alot off great memories. Amazingly good time with family and friends.
This made a very nice game gift, especially for anyone that has watched the movie . The wood case was very nice and looked just like the version in the movie. The game is fun to play.
I was skeptical as I bought in a sleepy 2am scroll
But I do not regret thus purchase at all we had a game night with friends and it was the most I have had on game night in a long time .
It is interactive and because you are all on the same team it makes for a team building type deal.
Highly recommend!!
My 9yr old loves this game! It’s super cute and easy to learn. The tasks are pretty funny at times, so even the two teenage boys and my husband got a kick out of playing. Definitely recommend!
This game felt intimidating at first, but once you dive in, it is NOT difficult at all! It is so much fun with the kids! This is one of the best games I’ve played with the grandkids!
I bought this for my 6 year old grandson and it was his favourite Christmas present his little brother was convinced it was the real game!
If you like to have family board games to have, you will totally enjoy this board game to have, to play with your family and friends !!! Is a great and fun game to have to play !!! You’ll have a great time playing this game, and you won’t be disappointed when you play it ! I would recommend that you get this board game !!!
Got for playing at Xmas seems like fun looks good and great value
We have played this about 6 times so far and we love it! The drums when you open it make it so exciting and nostalgic. The challenges are a lot of fun, especially since they get you to act things out and move around. My 4 yr old loves getting involved in the pretend play! Great for the whole family!
Let me begin by saying that my cousins and I are all around the age of 30. This was bought as a Christmas gift for my oldest cousin last year, mostly out of nostalgia for the film. We decided to try the game out after he opened it, and right away we were blown away by the quality (it looked so much like the real thing, I half expected an elephant to run through the living room while we played); the interactive button in the middle is so cool, and the game was easy to play once you got the hang of it (I like how everyone has to work together to win instead of being single players/on separate teams). I don’t remember the last time I had so much fun playing a board game! We laughed so hard while watching each other, argued over the answers to the riddles; even the older adults got in on the fun after a while! I highly recommend this as an addition to your own board game shelf or as a gift to someone. Just make sure you have enough open space to perform the tasks! (Trust me on this!)
Never played a game that is team work until you don’t need your team. Object is to not run out of lives and if you do everyone has lost so those playing can offer you a life if they have to spare so the game can continue.
The charades are just fantastic and silly
The riddles are actually trivial and not obvious.
Sound effects and pop up effects when you click the button are on par
My only complaint is the plastic case. For the cost it should have been something other than cheap plastic.
As the title says, take a trip to jumanji with this, just without like being eaten, which is beneficial. It’s very realistic and fun to play with my children. It’s limited obviously, you can’t wrestle alligators but still great! The challenges can be hilarious to take part in and I love the centre piece that displays the riddles just like the movie. It’s built well and is standing the test of time with my lot!
This is absolutely amazing, my grandson loved it so like in the film , his face was a picture , well worth the money
The board works well enough, but there are 4 player totems and 2 of ours are the same colour – not sure if this was a factory oversight or a design oversight.
There are dozens of categories of card but only 4 of each card, so cards are quickly repeated.
Each game is also very short, maybe 10 minutes, and it’s hard to lose a life, it seems the instructions are a little convoluted yet the rules exist to make it easier for small kids to stay til the end.
Not recommended for grown up fans of the show as it really is too easy making it difficult to be engaged.
Wish I had this when I was a kid , lol. Kids love it thank you!
A little confusing at first but a good family game to play.
The original came and the middle didn’t work, amazon replaced It with no fuss,
The game is so much fun, highly recommended
The game tries to provide you a “real” Jumanji experience, and it’s probably as close as you could possibly get.
It’s pretty good fun. The riddles are not too hard to solve but are not too easy either and the challenges can be quite amusing.
The sound is fairly loud, but I think it’s a good thing as if it were too quite and hard to hear it would take away from the fun.
Game time for 2 players took about half an hour, so it’s not a long game, but obviously with more players it will be longer and it probably also depends on how long you take to complete a challenge or riddle too.
This game is amazing. It’s for Xmas for my son but I had to have a play, it’s going to bring so much joy to my 6 year old as it looks so magical x
– The size is similar to the one in the movie (the previous electronic prop replica was smaller)
– The player’s counters were figures, which is more realistic in comparison with regular colour counters
– The box plays drums and music when you open it
– The central dome iluminates and riddles appear randomly when you press it like magic
– It includes a deck of challenge cards that makes more fun to play
– The tokens that emulate the lives players have like the Jumanji sequels.
– Nice carved artwork on the box
However, there are details that could have been improved and left down the overall evaluation of Jumanji deluxe:
– Box being made of plastic instead of wood
– The carved artwork would have looked amazing painted in colours instead of a brown uniform tone that only emphasizes the fact of being plastic made
– Tokens are not very sturdy and perhaps could have been made of a more durable material ( or maybe interactive cards that you could change the number of lives on display. I think the collectors edition has this)
– Symbols on the dices are not very clear what they are and there isn’t any description of their meaning on the instructions.
– The counters were a bit of disappointment because when they did well in making figures, they failed when giving all rhinos figures in different colours. They should have made a different animal for each colour like the movie ( monkey, elephant, rhino and crocodile). So we are not playing with these but with a replica set of figures we bought from an independent artist.
– The deck of cards is a plus, but a bit messy having all cards extended on the table to be able searching for the right one to solve the riddle. It takes too much room.
– The packaging box where the game came it doesn’t have a plastic cover and is open which is not very convenient for storing the game away and prevent scratches when piling up with other boardgames, so you have to find a place for it that doesn’t involve putting something on top.
Saying all this, I’m still thinking this version is much better than the electronic mini replica, the classic boardgame with the manual decoder, or the previous wooden deluxe version with the decoder). The best proof of this is my son convinced that it is the real game of the movie. He was very impressed with the sound and the dome effects. However, it is difficult to complaint if you consider the price you pay. In summary, I would recommend this deluxe version for those who want to experiment a real feel of the game like the movie without breaking the bank. But if you are after a more faithful replica, I would definitely pay 3 times the price for the collectors edition which is more accurate.
