My new car had loads of stickers on it, tried every solution to remove them – this was the only thing that works! Well worth it! Great little tool to have!!
Stanley 0-28-590 593OC Plastic Window Scraper Compatible with Plastic
Haven’t use this yet but I know I will need it soon, so I bought for that time to come hopefully.
It’s seems OK to me only one issue so far and that is the cover seems to ealily come off, which means I have to be extremely careful because that blade is very sharp.
This tool is a good value for money. Even though it is only made out of plastic, I don’t see it being a problem unless you are being too heavy handed with it.
This tool is super useful when scrapping off old silicone from tiles instead of risking cutting your fingers when just using a stanley blade the old fashioned way.
I had one of these years ago and now with re-decorating needed I bought this for a bargain 1.50. Hard to see how it’s economic to have such a cheap item shipped from Europe to my door – even with Prime! I can confirm that ir still does a fine job and easier and cheaper than using masking tape
Good value for money. It got rusty even after i let it dry (after few uses) but i believe you have to change the blade after some time anyway. It doesn’t scratch the surfaces.
Tried & tested for many years &. I’ve tried all different makers & models but I ll never stop using these as they are so well made very durable & out last any othe
No problem with the items but I disliked the amount of unnecessary packaging for these three small items….way over the top with the plastic bubble wrap plus paper plus a cardboard box.
I needed to remove some old stickers off inside my car. This done the job perfectly without any scratches. And with some elbow grease of some isopropyl alcohol. Highly recommend.
I had been looking for a scraper for a while. I saw this one and being Stanley brand I was confident it would do the job- and it did! I had tried using scrub pastes like pink stuff before, but it just wouldn’t budge the burnt on stuff. This removed it in seconds with minimal effort. As you can see in the before and after photos, it looks almost brand new!
I’d struggled to remove glue (from the back of Gorilla tape) I had used to hold polythene on my conservatory windows – I’d stuck it on to get the wooden sills to properly dry after I removed paint before I re-painted it. The project took much longer than I expected so the gorilla tape was on the glass for months.
No amount of rubbing with cloth soaked in spirit would remove all the marks.
But these scrapers worked a treat – really quick and a perfect job. Also then used to straighten the edges where I’d accidentally painted onto the glass.
What a fabulous little tool. I decided to paint some old pine & glass doors (that had previously been varnished many years ago). I’m not a professional decorator so there was some overpaintung on the glass and this wee tool is just simply fabulous at removing paint (and decade old varnish!). It’s super simple to use. And very therapeutic to see your mistakes come away with ease. It loses a star because of the design of it, it won’t let you get in tight to the edges. If you look at the pics you can see the plastic is cover is longer than than the length of the blade. Therefore can only get within a few mm of the door frame, which is where most of my mistakes happened , therefore not able to get every painting error scraped off. But it receives a strong 4 out of 5 stars because it’s cheap, easy to use and works well on the areas you can reach.
I have had window scrapers in the past, i use scouring brushes and basically anything with a solid edge to scrape stuff off of materials i am working with or about to work with. I picked this up because its Stanley, a well known brand, the reviews are good, i like the idea of just replacing a stanley blade which i always have a lot of on hand for Stanley Knives and its a really decent price point.
– The handle seems nice and durable, after a couple of months use i have had no issues with it, i actually bought two because the price was so good. Theres been no breakage or cracks, it must be dropped on a daily basis!
– Blade insertion is swift and easy, as others have noted do be careful when changing them out, maybe wear anti cut gloves or certainly use a thick cloth to protect your hands, its common sense really.
– When scraping i would advise to try and be even handed so as not to gouge out any grooves or make scratches at the ends, if your putting lots of pressure on in the middle and using on something like say plastic then this is possible.
– Ive included a couple of pictures of a before and after, this was where masking tape had been left on steel and then soaked with water, the residue is a pain to remove but the scraper really helps, i use detergent and water as well as a fair amount of elbow grease as well! But this is typical of what i use these for.
– So far i have used on plastic, steel, glass and also bits of bad sealant jobs in bathrooms and have had no issues. I bought two because they are such good value and also i really was expecting one to break quite quickly but ive been surprised, both are still working just fine after a couple of months and they are regularly ‘loaned’ from my tool box so they must be ok!
Overall, be careful as you would with any sharp blade, use on the right jobs, be careful with how you apply pressure and this is a great little addition to any tool box or kitchen drawer!
Five Stars.
