Great to be able to get at everything without scrabbling in a closed box. Looks neat, and easy to carry
Had the older version of this for many years and was very happy with it. Gave my old one to a family friend, very glad to find that it is still available almost like for like with the original version. However, I do think it is pretty expensive for what it is. That said, if it lasts as long as and as well as my last one, I won’t complain too much. Overall very happy.
Love this just have to watch for theveing as its open.
Found it useful and easy .
Bought to replace an old roll up tool bag. The bag is sturdy and has plenty of space to store the tools I need. Material is great and it feels robust, worth the money
Lots pockets, strong enough to handle heavy tools , quite good quality Recommended
Lots of storage, beats using the odd box to carry my tools around i
Great for transporting hand tools. Lots of pockets for screwdrivers etc. Seems extremely tough and well made. Typical Stanley FatMax quality.
Extremely well made product.. would totally recommend if you want a strong well constructed bag.
Bought for my 14 year old who loves helping out with the odd jobs around the house. He transfers any tools he needs for a job from his tool box, and this is perfect.
Great product have a few types of Fatmax.. this is good for household use chisels, saw, level and hammers etc
Have bought similar products before and the handle has busted within a few months (admittedly it does get used most days) so time will tell re sturdiness & value for money but seems like a great product, plenty of room to fit everything in and pockets to store smaller items
Pretty much the same as the older style apart from the strap that holds a saw in place which would loop around a piece of metal securing a saw in place, now it’s just a Velcro strap which will not last guaranteed, as soon as dust gets into the fibre of the Velcro it’ll just fail, bit disappointed about this as I use it to house a saw and will be used daily.
Happy with everything else though, these particular bags are tried and tested.
I use this to hold car detailing products, perfect for what I use it for. It’s robust and well made with a hard plastic base so contains any spills and easy to wash out.
This bag is so much better than a tool-box. I was looking for one for ages and this one came up and was cheaper than Screw-fix so I hit that order button. Now when I am working around the house, out-buildings and garden I’m not lugging tool boxes and separate tools around and backwards and forwards. I prepare it with everything I need and crack on with the job. Happy DIYer!
This is great for what I need, and as it was on offer, it was a great price, (almost double the price in my local hardware store!)
As for the design, the elastic straps inside to hold tools could be better designed to hold your tools. Pockets on outside of bag could be bigger!
I bought this to replace a canvas tool bag.
It lives on a shelf in my hallway cupboard and it’s too heavy to lift out. This is the perfect solution as it has plenty of pockets so the contents are easily seen. It’s strong, durable and I’m pleased with it.
Great product but,and this is a big but.the packaging was an absolute disgrace.the whole box was open from end to end.either it left the factory like this or the driver opened it to see what was inside.if it had been an expensive item I have no doubt it would have been delivered empty or it would have been lost in transit absolute disgrace.its not the first time its happened, and because of the pandemic, the drivers knock the door and are back in their van before you have a chance to open it or to even check the packages appalling
One of the best purchases ever for me.
Its light , tough , flexible and therefore well able for being stuffed into a van without getting damaged (unlike a toolbox)
If kept organised it’s very easy grab the tool you need.
The 1 negative (and I was aware of this before I bought it ) thing I would say would be that the saw carrier is totally pointless as it’s for a small sized saw. I have never used or bought a small saw . I mean , why would a tradesman buy a tiny little handsaw? I only mention it because it’s such a ridiculous issue for such a well designed item.
I have tried a few different tool storage options but always come back to these open tote style for visibility and accessibility. This Stanley Fatmax design appeals because it has a saw holster (which most don’t have) plus a really good selection of loops, pockets and holders for a very comprehensive kit to be accommodated. I also have the smaller size version for the more day to day and most used tools and this big guy then holds the more specialist secondary stuff. Both are great for taking to the job and avoiding trips back and forth for forgotten items. Also recommended for quality and durability vs. price. There are some great options from American suppliers like Husky and occidental but they are much more expensive and harder to find in the UK.
I purchased this bag some time ago in B&Q for 38.00 for a colleague who has trouble ‘maintaining’ his tools. He has had it now for 3 years and tosses it into his van and has massively over loaded it, be it dusty, it is in as good as condition as it was on day one. So I purchased myself one
* Quality is very good considering the price now on Amazon at 25.00 rather than the 38.00 I originally paid which makes this a steal. Stanley has out done themselves in this department. Every corner is riveted and the handle is double riveted.
* Very useful, the inside is lined with slots for tools although better suited to smaller hand tools such as pliers. The inside ends have elasticated parts although it is difficult trying to put anything in. One outside end pocket has a strap for securing whatever you put in there. The other side has a pocket and a drill bit holder (useful for putting pencils in) The level holder is also not a gimmick and incredibly handy for fitting a 60cm level in. Outside sides have a tenon saw holder and other side lined with pockets.
*Durability- I think this is the main concern when buying any kind of tool holder as it is generally subjected to heavy weight and abuse which mine has certainly been for a prolonged time and it is incredibly strong.
*Other brands? I’ve had Dewalt, C.K, Makita all are much more expensive and they flex and buckle when this has not.
Very happy with this tool bag, it’s no suprise it’s the best seller.
This Stanley Open Tote Bag will keep your tools in one place plus ensure they are easy to access thanks to its open top design. A lot of thought has gone into the design which includes a shoulder strap, saw pocket and numerous additional pockets including a one for drill bits plus straps for a spirit level. Rigidity is provided by a hard moulded plastic floor pan and steel handle and the canvas type sides are reinforced at stress points with metal/leather. This looks and feels like a durable product for day to day use.
In use the bag is easy to carry but in my view it’s a bit rigid and “broad of beam” for getting into narrow doorways in new build “rabbit hutches” – I think a less rigid floor to the bag would have made it easier to manage in confined spaces. Also, although marketed as an open tote, I previously had a similar version which featured a light cover for protection from rain etc., it would have been nice to have had that facility. Overall, though for many people this will be a convenient tool carrier offering capacity, protection and easy access.
In general, everyone needs a good tote bag. I didn’t realise this until I got one and then wondered how I coped without one. The answer is a had about 3 or four different tool boxes with lots of kit mixed up in each and I would need to have all of them out for most jobs. The open nature of this bag and the good mix of rugged pockets means its my one stop shop for most jobs. The opening is big enough to lob in bits of kit as you finish using them to keep relatively organised. Handiest pocket is the side flap on the outside of the tenon saw pouch – the perfect home for drill bits and drivers which I need for most jobs. Knocked it down a star as you can get similar bags from screwfix rammed with steel forge tools for about the same price.
I am a carpenter, working Monday-Friday and sometimes weekends, this bag is with me at all times. it’s left in all weather conditions. i must have least 20kg’s worth of kit sat in this bag, and ain’t failed on me at all. odds/ends that you use a lot stick in side pockets, tons space in center, that does include sds, impact drivers jigsaw’s anything you need. it will probably fit in this bag. also want to show my appreciation for the shoulder strap, use it all the time carrying it up stairs, around house’s etc. it’s perfect and hardly a scratch on it, amazing piece of kit, well done Stanley.
Just some advice on other bags.
Tape measure holder, mmm debatable
card holder. ain’t ever seen anyone use one. ever. sizing’s of pockets. i would consider maybe more detailed analysis of what sizing are, and what for?
the saw holder, I may have this wrong but is that a tenon saw holder? seriously?
ask how many trades men use that? that’s a whole side of one bag wasted to that, a hack saw fair enough. jack saw fair enough..but tenon?
either way i love the bag and for the money I paid. well done.
re-make this bag stanley. can make a hell of a lot of good money off this guy!
p.s annoyed about your 10 sale, i didn’t get another one :*(
I’ve used the stanley fatmax tote for 6 months, everyday as a plumber and it’s not let me down. If you keep your tools in specific pockets (of which there are many) you’ll never lose anything. It makes finding the right tool easy and stress free! My only complaint is the pocket for the saw is to small, essentially making the one side of the tote useless. This seems to be a fault from all makes though not specific to stanley. The build quality is exceptional with a sturdy base, handle and pockets. I’ve had problems with the handle on other totes before (which I’ve had to replaced with a bit of pipe) but the handle on the stanley is as good as ever. It would have gotten five stars if it wasn’t for the jack saw pocket. Nevertheless I would highly recommend this over other brands and at around 30 its a serious bargain.
I bought this to replace an overflowing plastic toolbox and several extra carry-cases for screws, an electric screwdriver, drill bits and so forth. I’ve since kicked the hell out of it carting it around the place, and it looks the same as the day it arrived. It’s very solid and tough, and has an incredible number of pockets, elasticated pouches, lashing straps, etc. I have clamps, screwdrivers, hammers, drill bits, spanners, a saw, and any number of other things in it and it’s still perfectly luggable without the shoulder strap (which you get with it anyway).
The end pockets are perfect for storing a few pencils and receipts, and the metal mount for a tape measure is something I appreciate about fifteen times a day. I’m sure this thing will last for years, and the open-top tote is much easier than a box when you’re doing anything more complex than putting together an Ikea cabinet. Can’t recommend it highly enough; it’s a no-nonsense tote that will carry a ridiculous amount of stuff and keep it organised. Save yourself the headaches (and cut fingers) of scrabbling around for your tools in multiple cheap plastic boxes, and get this.
